No but seriously, what causes this?
>>58920384japs didn’t gaslight themselves into thinking those games are good
because people would like the understand the language, but for pokemon specifically i don't see why people care that much, i bought a japanese platinum with box for $30 last year
>>58920384Pokemon content with the older games still goes consistently viral to this day, you might think this is all collecting fags and "scalpers" but a lot of kids who genuinely missed out of these gens have grown up on an internet constantly telling them how much better these games are and they want a taste for themselves.By contrast, japan just plays whatever is placed in front of them and then promptly forgets it about it before the next game releases.
>>58920388even good games are cheap in japan
>>58920384I'm genuinely considering learning Japanese so I don't have to pay exorbitant prices for Nintendo games.
>>58920395it is absolutely scalpers who price fixed during the pandemic, and now prices won't go down because in America everyone is infected with a brain disease that compels you to try to make money off anything and everything you can.
>>58920384Nintendo products are far more limited in supply outside of japan even stuff like the DS and 3DS appreciate in value over time which is unheard of for hardware
>>58920411same here, especially to play never traslated games, but idk how much is it worth it
i like JP BW copies had a cardboard box like HGSS, make you realize how much they cared.
>>58920424The DS and 3DS appreciated because they offer console quality experiences (not in terms of graphics but depth and gameplay) and have no true successor, nor do they see frequent rereleases.Nintendo really should just make a 3DS 2 and reprint old games, they're sitting on a gold mine of nostalgia.
>>58920384hard offs had gsc for like $5
the only problem are the shipping fees if you use proxy sites
>>58920384japs rat eachother out if they try to rip eachother off. They'll report someone to the police for listing something with an absurd price tag.
>>58920451you still save money honestly, shipping would probably be like $40 depending on where in the U.S. you are but buy just 2 games and all of a sudden you're still paying less than half of what you would to buy those 2 games stateside.
>>58920416>muh scalperNo its called the long term effects of fait currency.
>>58920384B/W used to be the fastest selling Pokemon game in Japan, if not one of the fastest selling in general; of course the after market is better.
>>58920439This was the Switch lite. They wouldn't release a separate platform entitely, this would cannibalise the more expensive Switch consoles and games.
>>58920600the switch lite is a successor in the affordability sense, but it does not carry the torch of the DS line
>>58920388They didn't need to. They already liked them
>>58920411Just don't be like me and overwork yourself
>>58920384Western retro paypigs are notoriously retarded and regularly cave and buy from scalpers.
>>58920384Americans were raised to worship JewsJapanese were raised to have morals
literally just hack your 3DS
>>58920384Because everywhere outside of Japan stopped giving a shit about pokemon from generations 2 through 5. Nobody bought this shit because pokemon wasn't cool at the time, so the scarcity on these games is much higher than you'd think for the 'biggest IP in the world'. It wasn't until GO around gen 6 did Pokemon pick back up in popularity globally. That is why all games gen 6 and up are still dirt cheap.
>>58921348GO started just before Gen 7 (GO launched June '16, SM Nov '16), people got back into it then.
>>58920384Less scarcity plus no scalping mentality
>>58921348And they're still cheap because there's still new stock floating around (I got a 2nd copy of US factory-sealed a couple years ago), as opposed to the very limited legit copies of older games, long out of print and ex-warehoused stock, on sale online, because they're either kept by fans who play them (don't have any gen 3 games, but got everything I bought in every Gen from Gen 1 to current), long-since lost or kept by collectors/"investors" until they need to get rid of shit because their woman wants to de-incel their living space.
>>58921351>before Gen 7so gen 6
>>58921369Yes, but incredibly facetious to try and claim Gen 6's performance on it. XY did well because it was the first Gen on a new system and performed equal to other new Gen/new hardware pairings. SM did just as well however, unlike the other times follow-up Gens appeared on the same hardware (GB and DS) which was in part due to GO and the 20th bumping awareness.
>>58921348Gen 6 was also the first generation to have a full global release at the same time. I think they started making way more copies of the games because of this.
>>58920388fpbp
>>58920384It's not unique to Pokémon, used games are just cheaper in general in Japan. Actually to be honest, pretty much anything used or secondhand is mega cheap over there, both online and in physical shops like BookOFF/HardOFF. If humans hands have touched it once, unless it's a mega rare collectors item, completely mint condition, or has very specific history to it (eg. certain doujins that got cease and desisted by Nintendo, Konami, etc), the price will usually be low. I think it's a cultural thing as I've bought a lot of used books and clothes over there, that are pretty much flawless, but the sellers will always list them as in mid condition unless they're literally still in the original packaging.God forbid an item has a scratch on it, then they usually sell it as junk/buy at your own risk
>>58920384It's because until last year or 2 years ago (I forgot) XY could still be downloaded without needing to buy a cart. And also because Americans are the fucking worst people to ever exist.
>>58921553spermcope is unreal
>>58921658coping at what exactly?
