I saw on another thread that pokemon day celebrates the anniversary of the release of red and green. The years add up and it sounds about right, but I'm not gunna pretend to know for certain.
Releasing ports of fire red and leaf green makes sense. Let's face it, they were better than the original red and green.
God willing we get remasters similar to BDSP
