E4 and Champions weren’t just presented as OP, they were presented is basically invincible until they NEEDED to be able to bleed in Journeys, or in Kalos’ case when they wanted to show off Ash's special form. Geeta was treated more reasonably for the story, strong but not incapable of being overcome, even then it took all 3 of them to barely eek by a victory.Titles like Champion and Elite 4 retain their meaning because they have full teams of 6 which the cast haven’t battled yet. I also see it as a refinement when it comes to the same type. Fighting types are meant to be skill fighters who uses techniques and martial arts to defeat their foes. Considering that Tera boost a pokemon STAB from 1.5 to 2. Since Pawmot is already a fighting type and this one mainly uses fighting type moves, it does make sense for it to be on a level of a mega since all of it moves are MUCH higher level than before.
