Are you ready to return to red and green on the switch?
I already own these games.
>>58930142You have to buy the new one. It's new.
People don’t know what’s coming. It’s R/G remakes in the original watercolor art style. It’s the games as originally conceptualized with full orchestrated music.
>>58930161the delulu is insane
>>58930156If it's the exact same game then no.
>>58930117>khuck said it so it's real!kek every time. see you in 11 days when it's reveal that khuck was lying as usual, just like the unova game that ended up being za or the pkhex feature in sv
>>58930117i was pissed that slowpoke wasn't in firered
>>58930117i'm not a slop eater, so no
>>58930187It's fun that Slowpoke is ONLY in LeafGreen. Out of all the gen 3 games, that's the only one you can get that dopey line in.
At this point FRLG is so old. Cool if it’s part of GBA nso. But they’re not going to make people pay for a direct port of a game that looks like total pixelated shit. It’s the 30th anniversary of a billion dollar franchise. Please have higher expectations.
>>58930223It's staggering how few people understand this is going to be a remaster/rebuild of FRLG in a Switch-friendly engine and not in fact their childhood put back up online for spergs to enjoy. But /vp/ is criminally stupid regarding Pokémon, even when they're told what's happening (Game Freak's reveal roadmap pointing to zero involvement with any potential FRLG project, EU and SK laws regarding gambling in media being a hard 18's rating unless proving it's not actually any form of gambling like Balatro using blackjack as the success/fail roll instead of win condition by placing bets on the outcome of the rolls meaning they won't add the old roms to any ecosystem they operate under), so no wonder they expect literally just the roms of them to be put up officially, instead of being used as a base to extract the maximum amount of gamesales(thus revenue) possible. I expect it's gonna be a Switch 1 version too. might have an upgrade patch, but no way are Nintendo going to miss out on selling to 100m+ Switch players rather than barely 20m S2 owners with a kanto redux.
>>58930142you can't conviniently put those pokemon in HOME
Morons, Idiots, and the rest. Wanna know what we’re getting? We’re getting a stand alone game & watch with FRLG on them. Nintendo did this for Mario and Zelda’s anniversaries and you’re gonna get them for this too. I just hope there’s bluetooth or better yet an Apple lighting cable to trade over. Get hype tards.
>>58930142I don't
>It's a port>It's a remaster>It's a G&W handheldOk but why would I want any of this
>>58930264Because it's set in KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>58930261>tidepod challenge was 10 years agocrazy
>>58930264BECAUSE IT HAS PIKACHU BEFORE HE DID OZEMPIC
>>58930259*sighs* Fine, I'll go listen to the Zelda II soundtrack again.
>>58930117If RSE don't come this year too I'm gonna be laughing my ass off about it for a good while>>58930180It's been corroborated by the guy who leaked all the Mega Dimension trailers & Alpha Zard mystery gift so it's like 90% true.
>>58930230ironic, indeed you were literally told there is no potential FRLG project yet you believe there's secretly some remaster in the works, criminally stupid>b-but the gamblin-they can easily just make it so you can't interact with the slots, either through the emulator or the simplest ROM edit, also balatro was changed to a pegi 12 rating, the exact same rating the 3DS virtual console releases got, so this point gets way more overblown than it should>b-but the sale-they can still just sell them individually on switch
>>58930223>It’s the 30th anniversary of a billion dollar franchise. Please have higher expectations. We are getting gen 10, Champions and Pokopia, plus many non-game related releases and events. Releasing a port of Kanto is just a celebratory bonus and they did the exact same thing for the 20th anniversary.
>>58930230I hope whatever flavor of autism you have isn’t contagious.
>>58930117nope causeemulated versions probably mvgg them, its very often the case
>>58930230How about an upgrade to Pokemon Sleep to call your mom when you wet the bed?
>>58930191Gale of Darkness was blantantly aiming to be a dex completion aid for people who only own Emerald and either Fr or Lg but they forgot Slowpoke.
>>58930117But does it come with the rad wireless adapter for GBA like the original? I'm not buying it otherwise.
>>58930348>pokémon is only game freak guiseExcept we know ILCA is a thing and absolutely would be roped in for this kind of port job *coughBDSPcough*. Go be a retarded secondary elsewhere please.
>>58930396I'm not ignoring the real-world, adult-enforced rules they operate under. Reminder they flat-out stopped adding gambling dens in Gen 5, couple years after EU and SK started limiting exposure to children through mandating stricter game ratings, rather than make them for Japan and burgers, then making hugboxes for the EU and others where it was seen as problematic. One source code, fit to all regions, meaning they're not just going to shit out FRLG's GBA rom for some faggots and not for others (because they're not releasing an 18's rated pokémon ever), making an actual $60/$70 w/ upgrade title the reality. With the gambling den cut out and with the new additions to the series since 2002, like the phsy/spec split, Fairy type and shortened shiny odds. Because as much as they're for saying "LOOK AT KANTO, BUY IT NOW!", it's also aimed at the modern iteration of pokémon fan and the recent child entrants tot he thing, thus will absolutely need to be modernised to fit the era.
>No RSE>No Colosseum or XD support>No e-Reader support>No save states, rewind, button remapping, or anything else offered by NSO>No cloud saves/backups>No HOME support>No event items>Possible censorship of content like with Virtual Console versions>No fixed Roar glitch with Raikou and Entei>No fixed 0 IVs glitch with roaming Pokémon>At best, there's multiplayer support for local wireless in place of the link cable, and you probably can't even guarantee the Wireless Adapter will be supported>$30 each>You don't even get the game in other languages, it's like Gen I and II on the 3DS where you have to buy your language>It's just two ROMsThe Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection shits all over this in every conceivable way.>$20 during sales>Contains 1, 2, 3 Blue and White, 4 Red Sun and Blue Moon, 5 Team Protoman and Team Colonel, and 6 Cybeast Gregar and Cybeast Falzar>Contains hundreds of pieces of concept art for every game, including spin-offs and mobile games>Online battling and trading chips, all rebalanced with online matchmaking and ranking>All 499 e-Reader cards included and supported despite never releasing any outside Japan>All event chips released>Built-in dual audio and in-game language without changing system settings>They brought back the original anime voice for Mega Man in both English and Japanese, appears in a unique menu and has context-sensitive voice lines>Entire OST available with some new remixes>Nothing censored>Fixed glitches>All Japan-only content restored
>>58930117I don't doubt that this is happening, but I also don't understand why. Assuming these are remakes and not just being made available on NSO. Couldn't they just do a lazy switch 2 edition of the let's go games instead? What could possibly differentiate these releases enough to justify revisiting KANTOOO again?
It's just FRLG... Like i like those games but it doesn't make sense for them to hype them up as a rerelease for the anniversary unless there's a catch to it
>>58930487>not just being made available on NSOBecause Nintendo don't pay a license fee to put old non-nintendo games up on the NSO and won't make a snowflake GBA emulator version, coded to be hidden under parental controls, just so they can put GBA-era pokémon up on NSO just for faggot adults too poor, spergy or otherwise afflicted to just buy a modern take on the series. Their whole partnership with the Pokémon games is funding them to sell consoles (BDSP doubled the Switch's weekly sales in Japan the week it launched), if any your suggestions don't actually offer a way for games and consoles to be shifted in large numbers, they're not going to happen and frankly if it came to "re-releasing an old rom for an emulator on subscription" vs "making a newer system game title to then sell at full price", they're always going to take the option that sells the most full price game prices AND most amount of console units.
>>58930547I agree with all that, I don't think it's just going to be made available on NSO for all the reasons you stated and the much more obvious reason that it isn't even the 30th anniversary of FRLG, so it's kind of nonsensical in concept to release those on NSO but not the actual games that are having the 30th anniversary. What I'm asking is what could they possibly do to differentiate these new editions from the KANTOOO remake that already exists and apparently still sells because I still see it everywhere 8 years after release.
>>58930259>FRLG sold standalone for Switch with HOME connectivity, events activated after becoming Champion. RSE games sold at a later date, their events will be active too.>G&W with Gen 1 versions available, wireless trades between G&Ws and no rewinds or save states allowed. Bonus Mew when you get your Diploma from GF office at Celadon
>>58930666The Zelda one had 4 games on it. Could very possibly be Gen 1 and 3 plus we know Gale of Darkness is dropping on pokemon day to complete the set. LOLZ for Mew. I’m gonna guess secret battle with Prof. Oak under the Truck.
>>58930259>>58930666What would be the bonus Game and Watch game they include? Mario came with Ball, and Zelda came with Vermin.
>>58930587>normal battles vs enforced GOshit>RG/FRLG remakes as opposed to Yellow re-imaginingNot hard. Plus as you said, KANTOOOOOOO for the 30th, it'll sell regardless as new kids, spergs like me (didn't play FRLG on release, but did play RB and will re-buy it to replay it for shits'n'giggles), and casuals who've played either the two but lapsed the fuck out until they saw the things announced on social media are a thing. They don't need to try their hardest to convince (You) to buy it. Just to convince the casual masses to buy in.
>>58930264Because it'll still be better than every Pokemon game that's on the Switch
Just made a collection with>RGB>Yellow>GSC>Emerald>Platinum>BW and the sequels>USUMWith home compatibility
>>58930142Like 80% of Pokemon fans never had a GBA or were too young when these came out.
>>58930722>j-just cater to povvo retards who don't understand how the world worksOr they could just remake the core pairs endlessly for full-price sales, than give up so many games for one buy-in price.
>>58930117>Switchborts when they find out the game has no cross gen/regional replacements in it
jothosisters…they skipped us for kanto again…
>>58930235Yes I can. Takes me like fifteen minutes to move from gen 3 to 4 to 5 to Bank to Home.
>>58930117I have roms sweety
>>58930875Hear me out.FreeFireRedLeafGreenHome integration, mythical with dex completion. Paid Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald (?)
>>58930711I know so many people from school who dropped the franchise like a bag of rocks as soon as online multiplayer on the 360 became the norm, they would unironically buy the games on switch in the same state they were released in back in 2004 without a second thought. A lot of them probably bought a switch for their kids, so it'd be an easy pick up.If it's as the leakunts say, then it's literally just to pull people back in temporarily for the 30th anniversary, so maybe they'd also spend money on merch while they're mesmerized by the nostalgia of GBA games. It's unabashedly soulless and greedy, but it'll print money, so they'll do it. They don't care that the sperglords like me who've been attached to the franchise since the start can tell they're pulling a fast one, because they're going to dangle the shiny set of keys that is Gen 10 to keep us occupied.
>>58930888They would have to put in a lot of effort to let you catch everything in game since the 3 legendary beasts for example you only got 1 in either fire red or leaf green and it depended on your starter or some shit.
>>58930991yepif you chose bulbasaur entei will roamif you chose charmander suicune will roamif you chose squirtle raikou will roamunlike in later games you can't respawn the roamer at all. due to a glitch all roamers in gen 3 have 0s or 1s for their ivs, and due to another glitch if a roamer uses roar it's considered defeated and will permanently despawn. both entei and raikou know roar.
>>58930977Whole point of its potential announcement (can see it being a summer release, if not sooner) on pokémon day would likely be to get the returnees interested, before dropping Gen 10 later in the year. I also think at this stage, it'll be Switch version, with a 2 upgrade pack. Easier to pitch to 154m than asking them to shell out top-rate for the new system with anything less than a new game.
>>58931014>unintentionally pandering to 'zardfags by virtue of using Crystal's learnset for Suicune meaning only they can respawn their BeastI know it's because Game Freak did shit coding, but it's actually funny how even when they didn't even try, they still punished people for not picking the shillmon.
>>58930761The collections usually sell well(Megaman legacy collection, AA , FF pixel remaster, suikoden,...)
If we didn't already know ahead of time that Gen X is also coming this year, the idea that fucking GBA ports being the coup de grace of the 30th anniversary presents is simultaneously hilarious and depressing.
>>58931035And you know it won't be fixed.
>>58930991>both versions free>get the one you like the most to play>reset the other one two times>????
>>58931046And remakes sell upwards of 12m at full price. Collections need to be made for lesser series, because they can't get the sales for successive releases. meanwhile Pokémon and FF are shitting out new versions of old games for the current system, with FF splitting their remake into three whole entries as their collection.Pokémon doesn't need to care about you faggots. They earn money off every release from kids and that's without even factoring in oldfags buying too.
>>58930161Tropium overload
>>58930117How will the national dex even work?
>>58930856well yeah hgss wasn't designed with a single screen in mind
>>58931158The "I don't care you can't access certain content" route that they took with Stadium: Nothing happens, Nat Dex unlocks and they won't care that you can't complete it. If they do care a bit maybe HOME integration will let you transfer them, hopefully they autowrite for you any moves not compliant with Gen 3 movesets. The other route: They release RSE too and you they enable events to complete most if not all Nat Dex, bonus points if HOME integration available to ease some pains.
Everyone's talking about how if they're just ports, then they better have all the event Pokémon available, but the real test is making Altering Cave work properly.
>>58931399That is absolutely not happening.
>>58931182>Touch mini games may prevent us from getting proper ports...
>>58930142you're not the target audience
>>58930707They’ve been going chronologically so since Flagman was skipped,(because it’s lame). It would be Fire. Which makes sense cause Fire red. So I bet it’s falling Pikachu or nurse joy and two chanseys bouncing pokemon out of the building.
>>58930117I'll believe it when it's confirmed. I don't trust Khu and I especially don't believe this necro felipe nigger but I hope to god they're right
>>58930117No, we already have Lets Go Pikachu, so another return to kanto would be a huge waste.
>>58930430Funny how my daughter is addicted to the gaming corner in heart & soul. "I'm going to get more money so I can go gambling and one day I can afford a munchlax".
>>58930264
>>58930478yeah, but it's Mega Who vs Poketheman
>>58931599universal problem with DS games desu
>>58930478At least wait until the ports get announced so we can criticize it instead of making up problems to whine about it
There's no point if there's no e-reader support like there was for japanese version. What these re-releases need is online connectivity, e-reader support for trainer tower & battle basement in seven island, unlocking events like birth island, navel rock & altering cave. Also gamecube connectivity.
>>58932780What they really need is wireless link support, as part of trainer card completion is to get high scores in Pokemon Jump and Dodrio Berry Picking, which almost nobody has played because of the extremely specific requirements.
How difficult would it be to add full HOME support (as in, two-way transfer) to FRLG from a development standpoint? Poke Transporter on 3DS only let you transfer an entire box at once and it was only one way, but I don't know if that was a limitation caused by Transporter or the original games' code.
Are they remaking Let's Go PIkachu/Eevee?
>>58932780>e-reader support for trainer towerI thought the western versions integrated those trainers into the tower since e-reader was DOA there.
>>58933015The gen3 games all worked with Pokemon Box which was essentially the same thing, it shouldn't be difficult at all.
>>58933058Kind of. The release we got in NA was right in the middle between not having it at all and what the original Japanese versions got.The international releases ended up being static teams presented in a single challenge for each mode where you compete for the overall best time, but the original Japanese version saw each individual trainer have a full team where they'd pick however many Pokemon they'd be using based on the tower mode. They'd also be randomized based on the order you scanned them in. This also calculated and swapped around the target time and prizes as a result.FireRed and LeafGreen were also compatible with the battle-e cards that were originally released with Ruby and Sapphire with that old woman on Seven Island who had one of those houses with the plants blocking the stairway. It sucked even more that eReader functionality was patched out of these games with that going too, because unlike the Trainer Tower cards, you could potentially have the battle-e cards for the NA releases like I do but you can't use them outside of Ruby and Sapphire.
>>58930142Based, me too.
>>58933015They would have to check for non-valid PIDs and stat combos from non-original Fr/Lg games since there are many cases where backported Pokemon from newer gens would be invalid stat-wise. Additionally, they'd have to handle regions and ribbons from newer gens because some ribbon IDs in gen 3 specifically got remapped to different ribbons in gen 4. Basically for this at most they'd have to edit the ROM with>origin IDs text edit to match all potential regions>ribbon ID text and sprite edit to put in all potential new ribbons/marks>EV cap for an individual stat at 252 instead of having it at 255 like it was before gen 6>disabling of checksum for checking for invalid PIDs + IVs + shininess, gen 3 had no shiny rerolls unlike later gens>all Pokeballs, even if not all balls are actually obtainable in-gameMost of these changes would outright edit how Pokemon are stored and interpreted on the data level, and if this were the case, they'd also have to rework how Pokemon are generated and built upon too, somewhat. The easier option would be to just have additional error handling so that if an out of bounds or unknown region ID/ribbon ID comes up, it has a placeholder. Basically the same concept behind the Strange Ball, but for ribbons and origin IDs too. Moves have been evidenced to be handled by HOME automatically where if a move is invalid, HOME pulls from a list of legal moves at that level for a Pokemon, or just deletes the moves. If you are looking for non-transfer HOME compatibility where you can just use HOME like additional storage boxes only for those games, it'd actually be super easy since HOME can handle multiple sets and interpretation of Pokemon data, whether it be entire reworks or just other fields (BDSP contest stats, PLA ganbaru values, soon to be PLZA, LGPE and whatever those values were called).
>>58930161Don’t make me hope.
Honestly I'm more ready for champions and I'm surprised that despite something with red and green being teased, leakers have nothing for us for champions info
>>58932220Real Kanto has never been tried
>>58933453There's been so many kanto games at this point, I don't think it's time to do it again until they try other regions.
>>58933647I disagree so long as they actually do something substantial to the region on a revisit to make it on par with many of the other recent regions.
>>58933453Unironically a grimdark Kanto with the late 2000's piss filter as a result of the corruption and pollution would earn my 80 smackeroos
>>58930142ok boomer
>>58933684I have no clue what you mean, my last Pokemon was Sun/Moon, and I thought it was rather distinct and interesting. I wouldn't be opposed to revisiting that region, just have it feel a bit like Zelda Wind Waker sailing around to islands and we have something special. If you like kanto, there's Lets Go Pikachu, it's really awesome, and it's quite recent.
>>58934000>It’s really awesomeIt’s a casualized version that still plays too much like a gameboy game. Too kiddie. Doesn’t live up to what Kanto could be.
>>58934000Two main things come to mind, region-wise. Honestly I think a lot of these things would be solved with a full on revisit 10 years after the events of Red/Blue, or something like that. Maybe something in between the events of Red/Blue and Gold/Silver. A lot of it has to do with the fact that Kanto games were designed to be completed after Cerulean Cave with no other post-game (without Stadium).>There are no main attractions post-E4 for any of the citiesOther than maybe the Game Corner it felt that there was no long standing thing to do in mainland Kanto in FireRed/LeafGreen. Everything post-game was sent over to Sevii with the exception of post-game rematches. Have a story on the formation of the Trainer House in Viridian City, have the guy in Vermillion City finish whatever construction project he was doing and have it be something meaningful to the trainer, have the Fighting Dojo in Saffron host rematches again, turn the Game Corner into some multiplayer minigame hub where you can use your Pokemon akin to Stadium 2/Dodrio Berry picking, maybe throw in some newer things like combing the beach on Cinnabar Island for Bottle Caps (goes into my next point). LGPE's postgame just acted as a onetime victory lap around the region to find the species Master trainers.>The abstractions of the world map are running thin in remakesThere's no volcano on Cinnabar island until there randomly is, Pallet Town is like 2 houses and a lab which is really awkward for new storylines like LGPE's, Saffron City has never been depicted with a railway, Cycling Road was a landmass in LGPE which made the SS Anne locked into a lake for some reason, wtf is route 12 and 13, what the actual fuck is route 7, etcThere are so many opportunities to expand these routes and give them a sense of purpose as opposed to being esoteric abstractions of a certain thing. Is Route 7 a large park in between two large cities? Is the Underground Path a place where a lot of nasty people hang out?
