>If a mon uses a special move while its last one was physical, it catches the opponent off guard and gets +1 to its critical hit rate for that turn>This means that if the mon can cumulate two other critical hit rate boosts (scope lens, super luck, high crit rate moves, or just focus energy which is a +2 boost) it will get a guaranteed critAre mixed attackers less shit now?
>>58930508>If a mon uses a special move while its last one was physicalForgot to mention obviously this also applies to using a physical move while the last one was special.
>>58930508Just remove the phy/spec split from the games. It was a massive mistake.
>>58930518Thread's shit now.
>>58930518Stallsrael post
>>58930508>Landorus used earth power ! Landorus used Knock Off ! +1 Crit rate !>Greninja used Surf ! Greninja used Shadow Sneak ! +1 Crit rateIt will change nothing
>>58930525>It will change nothingIt'll also fuck in-game playthroughs and make Pokemon like Camerupt and every slow Ice type Pokemon somehow even worse there as well...Wouldn't put it pass Game Freak to pull something retarded like that.
>>58930508First, give it prioritySecond, make a move that uses your weaker stat doubled
>>58930508Not having a good offense isn't what makes mixed attackers bad. It's that the stat investment usually makes them slow, frail, or both. They don't get enough opportunities to attack. The way EVs work kind of breaks mixed attackers for example. EVs reward focusing on two stats. If you want to use mixed attackers in the way they were meant to be used, they become even more noticeably slow and frail, or just perform sub-par to more specialized Pokémon at offense if you invest in their bulk or speed instead.

>>58930552True but this would give them a chance to do something others can’t doCritting more often can make up for less offense investment For example a Lucario that’s invested in speed and special attack could still use physical moves to fish for crits and make up for the lack of investment
>>58930567>For example a Lucario that’s invested in speed and special attack could still use physical moves to fish for crits and make up for the lack of investmentOFC fucking Lucario gets to benefit from this.
>>58930518It wasn’t even good without the split.
>>58930508Here's some items>Gold Scale: If the Pokemon's Attack and Sp. Atk stats are identical, grants a 50% boost to their Attack and Sp. Atk.>Silver Scale: If the Pokemon's Defense and Sp. Def stats are identical, grants a 50% boost to their Defense and Sp. Def.
Why are r/stunfisk niggers constantly spamming their shit on this board? Go back.
>>58930661That might be pretty good
>>58930661Or maybe one time use item that delays damage until the end of the turn
Camerupt has those stats because it got diddy'd by the Mossad.
>>58930552This whole idea just came out of nowhere. Pokemon aren't built on a budget, you dont have to buy stats or anything like that. They get the stats that they want them to get. There is no "whoops we overspent 200 on atk and spatk, guess we'll have to cut corners for def and spd :("
>>58930518All the Hoenn shitmons would still be shitmons, and in fact would be shittier since they can’t even decide to use physical or special attacks.Even the new Pokemon that got the Hoenn Special were bad back then in a significantly less powercrept generation.
>>58930661This is a neat idea. Also if you have an IV that's just off by 1 you have to account for that with EV training, which isnt a bad thing just a nice intricacy. Are there any mons that are NOT mixed attackers who could realistically benefit from this with the right nature/IV/EV spread?
>>58930518Okay grandpa, let's get you back to bed
>>58930796>filenameSometimes I think it's confirmation bias, and other times yeah I think so.
>>58930508Let’s do a hypothetical.Say Camerupt got a massive BST buff to 770 to match Primal Groudon. That’d be about a x1.67 increase to all its stats. So it’d have 117/168/117/175/125/68.And to make it more even, Camerupt gets Desolate Land, but has to hold the Red Orb too.Would you rather use Primal Camerupt or Primal Groudon in this scenario?Camerupt is way better than its original form, but in most cases Primal Groudon is still better. Not only is it faster by a good margin, but its also way more physically bulky too. Additionally Groudon’s Atk is higher than Camerupt’s SpA do it hits harder assuming same BP and target having symmetrical bulk. You can point out little advantages both sides have, but the underlining problem with sfma is that they aren’t good in any departments. And also keep in mind that as BST grows, the better a mixed attacker gets since they are faster and bulkier. 117/117/125 is pretty good bulk on its own.
>>58930661Base stats or real stats? If it’s the latter, you’re giving Toxapex and Ferrothorn a free Eviolite.
>>58930839Or Arceus
>>58930752Nidoking, probably. It's only a 20% bigger boost than LO, but getting to run Earthquake alongside special moves also sounds pretty good.
>>58930749>I…I’d have to actually put thought into my movesets and EV investments instead of dumping everything into one stat?>AIEEEEEE THAT MEANS THE POKMON WOULD STILL BE SHITMONScampaignshitter post
>>58930859No he's saying you wouldn't get to choose or make a unique moveset. You'd be even more stuck and one-note than you are now.
>>58930859Would you rather use Great Tusk or Camerupt, even assuming the phys/spec split was undone?
>>58930859UuuhNo?These pokemon are always better off picking one offense. You go mixed on bulkier things that can take hits, and hit back harder, like TyranitarNot frail things that are punching uphill because anything slower than them is bulky as fuck, and anything offensive that somehow doesn't oneshot them is switching, so they need to make the largest dent in an unclear target as possible, not piss away MORE stats making something impossible work.
Only way I can see mixed attacking working is if they introduce some of kind of range mechanic where a Pokemon in a disadvantage if it doesn't options for long range and close quarters moves.ZA kind of does that, except there's no actual benefit to close quarters moves.
>>58931398Honestly, I think PP should be heavily reworked to a point where it actually matters more often than not. Just have it auto-fill after every battle in game, so that you don't run out of buttons to press in the middle of a cave, but realistically no move should have more than, say, 15 PP.
>>58931398The benefit to close-quarters moves is usually their speed, which lets you quickly throw out several in quick succession for burst damage. Z-A felt like it was the closest to solving the mixed attacker issue because it gave pokemon more opportunities to attack and made each attack more unique, but battles still end too fast to really allow for anything interesting. Maybe that system would have worked better if pokemon were universally bulkier. I was thinking that putting EVs into one attack/defense stat granting a slight bonus to the other one might be good too since you can use speed as a dump stat for natures in Z-A, but that would probably just make pokemon that are already strong even stronger unless the bonus scaled negatively with BST
>>58931667>Maybe that system would have worked better if pokemon were universally bulkier.Considering that Legends Z-A already makes all trainer owned pokemon 30% bulkier by default (rather, attacks only deal 70% damage against player owned pokemon, I'm sure this somehow matters mathematically), and even that's not enough, including for multiplayer, we would be talking absurd levels of bulk.
>>58930518Shut up Banette
Mixed stats would be less of an issue if the game had DOUBLE AND TRIPLE BATTLES AS DEFAULT.Every other Jrpg has a full party of like, 3. 1x1 makes it so that the only thing that matters is being a fragile speedster glasscanon or wallstall, only minmax.
>>58930508How is its defense so low? Bros built like a tank. What kind of phisical attacks could this round slow loser even do? Throw rocks? So fucking stupid. Should habe been a sp attacker and the attack stat should be spread out between defense and HP. Its sp defense can stay low because it has no obvious shied or defense against such attacks. Bro is to dame slow to do much woth its type though. Slow fire types tend to suffer.
>>58933099>he doesn't realize that game freak is a retard when it comes to stats unless it's a pokemon meant for shilling or DLCNGMI
>>58930508Camerupt was good in gen 3 competitive thoughbeit. He could cook skarm with Overheat and destroy blisseys blussy with EQ. He could also beat up on Salamence too. Yeah he cant kill Swampert but thats not what hes there for.
A physical move's crit rate is influenced by the Pokémon's special attack and vice versa
>>58933099>What kind of phisical attacks could this round slow loser even do? Throw rocks?Pretty much, yeah. Rock Slide is supposed to be one of Camerupt's main moves, it learns it upon evolving.
>>58933099It’s a Hoennmon. Tropius is literally a flying Sauropod, but doesn’t have a single stat above 100.
