>It's Ash's fault that he lost the indigo league because he didn't try to train Charizard. How exactly was he even supposed to do that? In the games, you do it by winning all the badges. Ash already had 8 of them.>He didn't even earn half of themOkay, it's not like he asked for pity badges. I'm pretty sure he initially turned them down but the gym leaders insisted on it.>He should have proven himself as a worthy trainerBy this point, he beat Blaine's powerful Magmar during the one time charizard decided to listen to him, and managed to make it to the top 16 of the pokemon league. He's certainly not an abysmal trainer going by results alone.>He should sorted out Charizard sooner. It's a 7 foot tall fire breathing dragon. There is only so much a 10 year old can do about that.
>7 foot tallHow do we tell him?
>>58934133Lmfao zard is a manlet. Legit 5 foot
>>58934143>>58934180Yeah the anime Charizard is definitely not 5'7" unless the main characters are all 3 feet tall.
>>58934133Charizard only cared to fight opponents that looked strong or anger it. Though it made an exception for Ritchie's Charmander, once it was switched out Zard stopped giving a shit.
>>58934133Shudo was a hack, its just that
>>58934189>Main characters are childrens He is
>>58934189Remember most charachters are like 10 year old Japanese children so mons will look bigger. Find me a zard next to a grown man. Preferably Western. Otherwise I'll go ɓy the dex
>>58934239Surge could bench press Charizard easily, god damn.
>>58934247Most people could like me
>>58934247He could Batista Bomb that lizardlet
>>58934241Let's say Ash is around average height for a Japanese 10 year old (4'7"ish). whenever they're standing side by side, charizard is approximately 2 pikachus taller than Ash. So that'd put him close to 7 feet tall.
>>58934247>>58934276Someone should draw this
Excuses, the kind a shitty parent makes. Ash doesn't even try to deal with Charizard's unruliness. He just acts like there is no problem and continues to rely on it. He's a nice trainer but that's not the same as being a good one.
>>58934133>It's Ash's fault that he lost the indigo league because he didn't try to train CharizardYes. He had months between the start of the league and earning his 8th badge to train but instead kept fucking around going on adventures. He’s such a shitter that he needed Brock and Misty to coach him in his matches and then he loses the one match he isn’t allowed to have coaches anymore.
>>58934299Yeah him being reliant on such an unreliable pokemon was his fault. But how exactly was he supposed to deal with its unruliness anyways? The thing straight up refused to listen to Ash no matter what and repeatedly breathed fire in his face. Saving its life like in the Orange Islands saga was a circumstantial situation that wouldn't pop up in a normal training routine. The only way I could see Kanto Ash getting Charizard to listen to him was if he straight up turned into Paul and had his other pokemon abuse Charizard until he finally started listening to Ash.
>>58934376I wouldny have had a problem with Ash losing if it seemed like a legitimate loss. One where he was genuinely outmatched. But Team Rocket's shenanigans leaving his team half exhausted by the time of the battle, weird calls like a sleeping pokemon being declared a loss (so a Jigglypuff or a Parasect that is tanky enough to handle quick attack would solo the entire league?) cheapened the lesson they were trying to convey. Made Oak and Misty seem like insensitive assholes.
>>58934133Early Pokémon league was a mess, like early world cups. The haka VAR declares sleep condition was allowed to still fighting.team rocket were total assholes too, the exhausted pidgeotto almost evolve by that time and should beat butterfree and Charmander, I only agree with the Charizard training fail from Ash, since he wasn't the original trainer he should make more effort on it
Because Ash is a shit trainer, he's basically a silly version of Red if he had a character. He's kind to his monsters, but he's not a prodigy like Red is canonically, he goofs off way too much and doesn't take training seriously outside of his high-flying goal of wanting to become champion. Also doesn't help that the anime doesn't follow game logic, having all badges basically means you're good enough that all monsters are willing to follow your lead, anime Charizard was just a convenient way to make him lose the league.
>>58934133>It's a 7 foot tall dragon. Shitzard is neither of those two things lol
>>58934401It could've been written better, but the point very much remains that he would've won had he fucking trained his zard instead of spending all that time before the league dicking around with filler plots.
>>58935691And the point very much remains that it was obvious that he was gonna win if Team Rocket hadn't interfered.
The original show wasn't really shitting on Ash for not being good enough yet, it was just showing you if an actual kid had to deal with all this shit, it wouldn't all go perfectly. It didn't want to hold the audience to impossible standards, it wanted Ash to be someone they could relate to. Someone you could project your own childhood struggles onto. Not a generic limit breaking shounen hero. Then they turned him into exactly that in X Y and everyone clapped (until they rug pulled him). So I guess the nuance was wasted.
>>58935832>ignoring the fact that prior to XY, fags had been spamming "ash more like trash lmao" and constantly droned on about how much of a failure he was for never winning a league
>>58934133By asserting dominance (having sex with your pokemon)
>>58935832One day people will realize XY, not BW or SM, was when the show lost its soul, started its downward spiral, and sealed its fate.
>>58935890Something which XY didnt up helping with in the end.
