Why did plza fail to recapture the magic from pla?

ARMPITA

Stealth was the biggest thing they needed to expand upon and they went backwards instead and wild zones were shit. If anything the wild zones should have been safe zones and the rest of the game should have been full of wild Pokemon.
>>
>Improve character writing
>At the expense of the actual game

Why even consider Z-A a "Legends" game if it barely has anything to do with Arceus, it should've just been called Pokemon Z-A
>>
>>58937863
retarded plot constrained to a single city that sticks you with a genuine retard

Arceus was actually onto something and they just failed to realize that they should have just adjusted and improved on what was explored in that game. I don't particularly care about the setting or time period, I just wanted them to expand on how the monsters actually felt like unique beings in a wild setting that behaved in different ways. Like how the Machoke would come and flex at you asking for a fight, some others would just come up to check you out and play with you, others just wanted to pick a fight with you. They could have just taken the Arceus engine and assets and just expanded on the things that mattered like the monsters and gameplay, but no, they had to create something entirely new from scratch that had little to nothing to do with the previous Legends game for some dumbfuck reason, and of course it came out half-baked like every other project they have to get done on a time crunch.

Who said Legends had to have something to do with Arceus?

I liked it a hell of a lot more than PLA, but Z-A was very half-assed. It felt like just about everything in the game didn't get the time it needed to be fully realized.
>>
The fundamental problem of PLZA is that it was not a finished game, it was a massive draft/beta.

Even the character writing that >>58937946 mentions isn't really an improvement, because there is no evolution, there is no story. The characters are even interesting, but nothing about them matters.

Dumb example, Naveen. "He is an aspiring fashion designer, slowly earning a reputation in Lumiose City as a designer shrouded in mystery." this setup would flow perfectly into us meeting Jacinthe, because he could design dresses for the meeting, where they would impress the SBC leading to him achieving his dream.
Instead nothing of this happens and we get the clothes from a random npc.

Game should of been set in the past, at least it would have been more intresting than a time skipped XY that they barely did anything with.

>Game should of been set in the past
I thought that was going to be the whole point of the Legends series until ZA.
>>
>>58938348
Its going to stick out like a sore thumb if the next two Legends games are set in the past (Legends Galar and potentially coming back to a Legends Johto in the past)

Distant future couldve worked too like another 200 years into Kalos's future instead they had a 5 year timeskip with... 4 returning characters

>Sinnoh has a large amount of mysteries and lore to work with that PLA allows the player to experience directly
>Also allows GF to create a playable pseudo-event to make up for the Azure Flute never being officially distributed
>Kalos has mysteries and unanswered questions like the ghost girl, the power plant, Volcanion, and of course Southern Kalos
>ZA doesn't answer any of these, doesn't go far enough back or forwards in the timeline to be interesting, and inexplicably narrows the setting down to one city that's already been explorable front-to-back
>You just fight Volcanion in a fucking untextured basement

Arceus was such an anomaly that it single-handedly reinvigorated my interest in the series. ZA feels like it was fucked from conception. Let's not build on anything that worked in Arceus lets throw it all into the trash. Set it in one boring city. Like, I just don't understand what the fuck they were thinking. ZA should have been the easy win they needed, especially after the SV disaster. They should have set it in Unova during a wildwest period.

What magic? Watching bidoof fart 50 times? Empty fields?
>>
>>58937863
Because PLA had the intend behind Pokemon games in it aka going into the wild to catch and befriending Pokemon. PLZA literally gives more of a "do illegal dog fights in the back of alley" feeling than anything else
>>

>single city
If they were going to do that, they should just set games in the anime exclusive cities. The land they are in is vague enough to be excused as to why it's standalone unlike Lumiose where we know what's out there, they just barred us from seeing it.
Like shit, it'd be cool to go to pic rel or the Venice inspired city from Heroes
