I don't get it. Everyone here creamed themselves over the 3ds distributing the Gen 1 and 2 games. Why is it suddenly a problem?
>>58942833Huh? Where is Nintendo selling the NES Classic currently?
>>58942833Bad faith rage baiters, goal posters and a generally lower global IQ will do that
>>58942833They had immediate compatibility with Pokemon Bank, you could catch Celebi in Crystal, they cost pennies (or literally nothing if you got the bundled version with New 3DS systems), and the important part your retard brain isn't processing, you got BOTH Gen 1 and Gen 2, not just FRLG.
>>58942833Zoomers are poor and are mad they have to make phyiscal contact with other people in order to get Gengar/Machamp.
>>58942833>Everyone here creamed themselves over the 3ds distributing the Gen 1 and 2 games. It wasn't as popular to hate Nintendo around that time. Nintendo has made some mistakes in recent years, these days people disagree with everything they do.
>>58942833I am le poor and that game is le oldplease price it to $10.
>>58942833emulation is a lot more common along with emulation/fpga handhelds becoming more popular so its a lot less impressive. I have multiple more comfortable emulators that can do this for free. also the switch has absolutely none of the soul the 3ds had
>>58942833Even iPhones can emulate GBA games now. The value proposition was already sketchy back then, today you literally just have to hate money to buy this shit.
>>58942847>you got BOTH Gen 1 and Gen 2For a higher price than FRLG if you're counting them together.
>>58943062That is simply untrue. You could get one Gen 1 game and one Gen 2 game for the same price as just one of these.
>>58943104It cost slightly more to get both.
>>58942833>>>/v/
Crystal was released before a billion economic apocalypses made luxury-spending a thing of the past
>>58942833They weren't 20 bucks. Crystal also had Celebi to entice people into caring.
>>58943053>just emulate on a phone bro!No.
>>58943157The Switch versions are 50% cheaper than the original release.
>>58943171Imagine any other company selling a 23-year old game with no changes except that it's now half off.
What you are seeing is due to too many people on the Internet that have a very vocal opinion when the general opinion is that this is ultimately a good thing for those who want to buy it for the purpose of playing it with others and sets a good precedent for re-releases going forward. You're just reading all of the negative things. If it was $15, you'd be hearing about how it isn't $10. You will continue to hear that these games are $40 because people will act like you need to buy both for some reason. You were hearing that people genuinely thought that they'd price these at $60.If it doesn't come with the mystery gifts exactly how Crystal VC introduced Celebi, then you'll hear about that. If they're locked behind amiibo because GameFreak saw a way to introduce that, you'll hear about that fact for possibly the rest of the year. If two-way transfers don't exist despite the 3DS games also not having that, you'll hear about that. Just stop trying to respond to people that are trying to do their best to make you less satisfied about the news.
>>58943196A lot of them do.
Thought that said thermite from the thumbnail
>>58942833They're 5 dollars
>>58943162He never said bro retarded zoomer
>>58942833On the 3DS and Wii U Virtual Consoles, Game Boy and Game Boy Color games were priced around $3~$6, whereas Game Boy Advance games were $7~$8.While Pokémon spinoffs were at typical prices, Gens 1 and 2 on 3DS VC were higher at $10 each.Nintendo DS games were also cheaper on the Wii U VC, $10 each for most. You could purchase Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky on the Wii U or Yellow and Crystal on the 3DS for the same price they're asking for FireRed on Switch.>>58943171Not quite. FireRed was $34.99 at release.>>58943235$10 for it would've been ideal, $15 would be acceptable, $20 is gouging compared to VC titles from a decade ago, but still more affordable than secondhand copies of the GBA version. It's also the best mainline Pokémon title on Switch now.
>>58943162Emulate on your anything. On your PC, your watch, your fridge, there's no piece of modern technology that can't emulate GBA games.
>>58942833People are more jaded now than they were ten years ago
Still not buying. Keep crying.
>>58942833Gen 1/2 games lacked transfers to later titles, and came with Celebi. Everyone and their mom has already emulated FRLG and transferred up multiple teams from it. The least they could do is add the Deoxys event, but this is Nu-NuGamefreak instead of just NuGamefreak, so it's unlikely they will.
>>58942833why is nintendo being portrayed as the mindless npc in this comic if they're supposed to be in the right in this scenario?
>>58943288>Previous Virtual Console GBA games were sub-$10Just that, really. $10 for FRLG with day one Home support and the event tickets would have been consistent. More prominently there is nothing here that merits $20. Sony sold you PS1 games for $6 with the 2~3 GB formerly multi-disc games at $10, granted that was coming up on 20 years ago now.>>58944640I read it as:"You can't download free ROMs of our old games.""Then make them available again.""...but I AM."
>>58942833There are more bots on the internet now compared to then
>>58942833>>58942842>>58942876If it was capcom releasing those games you would have gotten all 5 of the gen 3 games at $50, with additions and online playthen again its gamefreak we are talking about so it needs to be the sloppiest and most disappointing release possible
>>58944687>you would have gotten all 5 of the gen 3 games at $50this is functionally 2 games for $25 each, as opposed to nintendo selling 1 game for $20
>>589446972 games, one "DLC" and online playmeanwhile this $20 slop is still inferior to the original release and emulated versions by the sheer fact you can't trade with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald nor any of the DS era games
>>58944697Are you retarded?
>>58944711>fire red or leaf green>emeraldNo reason to play ruby or saphire when you have emerald. No reason to play the other copy of the kanto remake either.
>>58944720So you are retarded, got it. Also, still not buying. Keep crying.
>>58944722>i'll gladly pay more for games i won't playOr>i'll gladly pay more to replay the same game with a minuscule amount of version exclusive pokemonIt's not a good look either way.
>>58944687Capcom literally released 12 Megaman Battle Network games for 20 bucks thoughbeit?
>defending this cashgrabbahahahahahahahahaha
>>58943117>>58943062Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, $10 apiece, you could grab any four for the price of FRLG.
>>58943171The original release came in a box with a manual, a fully physical cartridge, and a cutting edge wireless adapter accessory. This new release has ZERO PRODUCTION COST.
>>58944811Then buy it physical?
>Gen 1/2 3ds releases>cheap>had old events that were only IRL enabled>bank transfers>LGFR switch>price comparable to most higher quality indie monster catchers>pretending that the Sevii islands weren't part of the original games and are special content>anything that alluded to possible HOME compatibility has been scrubbed from the listings
>>58944863They aren't selling it physically, so the comparison becomes selling a rom for $20 for literally one of the top 5 most pirated video games of all time
>>58942833It’s only a problem because it’s too expensive for a low effort rerelease of a multi-decade old game. If it were a bit cheaper (and had online) I imagine there would be a lot less backlash.Keep in mind that those complaining absolutely can afford it, they just don’t think that it’s worth their money, rightfully so.
>>58944810Why are you picking up both FR and LG? Dishonest anon...
>>58944733It's normally $60, but currently on sale for $20.For $20, Pokémon FireRed or the entire Mega Man Battle Network series? I think the answer is easy.
>>58944962>HOME compatibility scrubbed from listingsMaybe they wanted to announce that "surprise" during Presents video
>>58942833Every other company typically puts them out in a collection with improvements, at a total price cheaper than 40 bucks.Nintendo/Pokemon puts out 22 year old games (From a console where the prizes of the ones on the predecessor console were even lower) for over DOUBLE the price, on their own.Buying it supports the practice of allowing them to artificially jacking up dated products over their own pricing history. Fuck the excuses of "But muh inflation", with any other IP you get more than that on average.
>>58944733>>58945316>b-but muh unpopular ignored 80'sboomer series1Yeah, they have so many games included for such a price, because they'd suffer BADLY trying to release them all individually AND get a sales reception for each. Pokémon never had that problem, 12m fuckheads bought FRLG because they were too fucking young to have played Red and Green/Blue, the studio changed their whole studio priority in Gen 6 to make hoennnigs a remake and cancelled a rehash project. You have gotten chapter and verse as to why they do this, even fucking helped write some of its sermons yourself and yet you still can't understand why they succeed while shittier IP's fail and have to grasp for a market.
>>58945398>every other series typically does not have a fanbase the breadth and depth like Pokémon does>no other company issued remakes at such a rate as Game Freak OR succeeded as heavily as Game Freak did with their remakes>entitled retarded secondaries wonder why a far more popular and wide-reaching franchise can not only sell old games individually, it can profit heavily off this eventuality
>>58945398>But muh inflationI'd honestly have more sympathy for them if they were putting the money toward their games, but it's exceedingly clear they are not. I'd be willing to paypig a bit more if I knew they had good intentions, but it's looking like Nintendo is settling back into their old yakuza faggotry more and more.
Switch 2 is new and hot off the debate about game prices going up so the narrative leans stronger in the "wow Nintendo is charging way too much for things" direction. That said, relative to the 3DS releases, these ARE more expensive, though, not by an insane margin. The Gen 1 and 2 games were more expensive than other Game Boy games on 3DS but that was primarily due to them having unique features (Home transfer). Those were $10.The Game Boy Advance games on Wii U were typically $8, so even being favourable, assuming both inflation AND the increase due to unique functionality, $15 would be pretty reasonable I'd say, though that's only to someone who cares about Home functionality. $20 therefore feels like it's a little absurd. Also all of this is coloured by the fact the GBA is probably the single easiest to emulate console of all time, so getting these games for free is trivial.
>>58942833We want physical game not digital
>>58945464So go play it for free then. You know this is aimed squarely at children who don't know what the fuck a Kanto is? Be interesting to see what its uptake is, VC Gen 1 only sold 1.5m but then again, it WAS a 209 year old game boy game sold during an era where kids had XY, ORAS and SM on the same system. Might have only been us oldniggers who bought it to relive our initial experiences with the era.
its jewish
>>58945481>we want to pay for a game key card! You shitheads are bitching badly about doing that already, why take the extra steps (and lock yourself into needing the GKC to ever play it in the future) by screeching for it now?
>>58945485>You know this is aimed squarely at children who don't know what the fuck a Kanto is?Oh, you're talking about Let's GO now?
>>58945485Anon, I'm going to be buying both versions specifically because I want them on Switch 2 and want the Home compatability. You're talking to someone who agrees with your sentiment. Those who want to emulate can do so, this is for people who don't want to or want it on the specific platform/with the specific features, I agree.
>>58945464you could buy gba games for $7 on the Wii U eshop in 2023, inflation hasn't been that extreme
>>58945489That was for babies. This is for kids, given it's not even got the Phys/Spec split, meaning there's going to be a LOT of filtered fucking babies crying over it.
>>58945498Please read the full post and consider the full context.
>>58943162>mobile filenameHuh?
>>58942833Don't you fucking bring 3D All-Stars into this. That was a sham.
>>58943235>people criticize shitty thingsyou don't say
>>58945347lol fuck these faggots, they blundered, they're going to print money by retards who go allllllllll the way out of their way to get fleeced like a retard
>>58945437Pokemon sucks compared to Battle Network
