So with Gen 10 looming I've been thinking a lot about this again and have some thoughts. The subject of this thread is broad - feel free to share any hopes you have for Ground-type Pokemon.
Anyway, here are a couple to get started:
>picrel
It would cure my symmetry OCD if we got a Fire/Ground starter that wasn't as bad as Camerupt and less restricted than Groudon. That being said, I haven't liked a lot of the starter designs we've had more recently so I'd be okay kicking this can down the road.
>Bug/Ground
We need more representatives of this type. I don't even care if it ends up an early route Bug shitmon. Maybe a trapdoor spider, maybe a mole cricket, maybe a millipede or an earwig - I don't care too much. I just would really like to see something.
>Ground-type support mon
This is a big one for me. As someone who likes making entirely Ground-type teams, the lack of supportive Ground-types is a constraint on team composition. Moves like Trick Room and Gravity are very useful for Ground-type Pokemon but the Ground-types that can actually learn them is extremely restricted. Similarly other more generally supportive moves are extremely limited or non-existent in Ground-types. So it would be pretty nice for a design or two with a lot more supportive options.

A broken ground and fairy type mon, preferably something looking like a pink incineroar, which we need to tolerate for the coming 3 gens in VGC.

This thread is about things you want, not things you (justifiably) expect

I want to see a Ground-type birdmon

I'm still surprised we haven't gotten a bug/ground mole cricket. I'd also happily take that one spider that rolls down sand dunes, or a trapdoor spider, or just a literal anthill colony mon.
I'd also like to see a Claydol evo, it was left behind the very next gen and it has room in its design and BST for a third stage. It'd be sick.
And can we PLEASE get another Ground/Rock type? I get that we have several, but they're either only an NFE, a cross-gen evo, or ALL from gen 1! Give us some new ones! Even just regional forms would be fine.

I hope the regional bird is Ground/Flying this time. Make it a ground-nesting bird, maybe base it on that one from that video where it stayed on its nest even as a combine rolled over it.

They will never do a material secondary type other than Fighting for starters ever again. You will enjoy your Fairy Ghost Dark trios forever.

it's really strange how autistic they are about it. I was excited to see Rowlet was Grass/Flying and thought the people talking about it changing types to Grass/Ghost because of the stilt owl were insane, because why would they change it from Flying-type?
Me personally I hope we get a Steel-Ground-Ice secondary type trio at some point.

I want something that’s even half as cool as Garchomp. It’s been 20 years

fun fact: Grass, Ground, and Poison is a near perfect type triangle, only Ground breaks it as it doesn't also resist itself. I could see maybe a pure Grass starter and the other two having Poison and Ground as secondary types. I think Venusaur is still the only starter that is part Poison-type.

>even in this trio torterra BTFOs both
HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS
