why are E4 members type specialists anyway? they would make more sense having personalized teams. they're the endgame boss rush, having them type themed still seems like a waste
Because Masuda shat out Pokemon games in 2 years modeled after Kanto just to give Nintendo more Pokemon content slop. There was no time to make "themed" teams because they ended up always cutting half the content planned for each game just so they could be made in the first place
>>58947601Gen 4 tried themed teams and everyone sperged out
>>58947622I got Flint's team except for Lopunny.
>>58947636i didn't get the steelix
>>58947601The champion is meant to be the one with a good personalized team and as such has a team that's not as easy to counter compared to the elite four who are meant to be really good specialists. At least that's how I've figured that it was ever since Red/Blue.. thought this was common sense. If the champion/final fight is too specialized though that's bad.
>>58947601Because change bad. Must always conform to the same formula, otherwise that would be different, and different is bad.Must always have 8 gyms, must always have victory road, must always have elite 4, must always have type-themed gyms and elite 4. Must always have three designated starter pokemon given to you by the professor, which must always be grass, fire and water. Must always have a rival that ends up with the starter with a type advantage over yours. Must always release at least two games every cycle with minor differences.Any deviation from this formula will be met with hostility from the fan(atic)s. They want the same thing every single time. It's the same for people who eat McDonalds every day; if the taste was even slightly different they would get mad.
>>58947658i don't mind pokemon having a formula for its main entries, if anything its refreshing to not have a vidya series that keeps veering off in different paths and becoming incoherent over time like zelda or sonic
>>58947622I like that they provided a little more challenge than just mashing the same super-effective move 5 times.Did Gen 8 fans sperg out over Raihan's team?
>>58947622No they didn’t, they were forced to pick fillers for Flint because the dex was trash.
>>58947601Because it’s an RPG and they’re bosses.Like how it’s piss easy for a player to roll 6 deep with pokemon but so many trainers you fight have significantly less than 6. It’s just an rpg fight, not a battle amongst peers.
>>58947670If Pokemon games actually broke from its tradition in unique ways like BW or SM more often, people wouldn't hate the repetition. Subversion is what keeps a franchise fresh, but reinventing the wheel every time doesn't work and that's why Z-A hit a fucking wall>>58947694No, Raihan was one of the only popular Gen VIII characters
>>58947601Being a gauntlet forces you to think about your team build. This is why Wallace is a highly underrated champion, as he can easily fuck you over if you didn't reach him unscathed.
>>58947601Because that's not the point of those League challenges to have 5 Champion level opponents gang up on you. They're basically testing how well you take gauntlets and then you get to challenge for Champion for your trouble.I think any aspiring challenger is in trouble if they can't manage top type specialists at that point. Yes, I understand you mean in-game because it's easy for us but that's clearly not the case in-universe. Being able to effectively raise 6 strong monsters is considered special.
>>58947636Loppuny is hot, like fire
>>58947601I played a fangame the had E4 teams like that, one was baton pass, one was trick room etcWas pretty fun
>>58947694>Did Gen 8 fans sperg out over Raihan's team?raihan was still a cakewalk like all gen 8 but I appreciated they at least tried something with him
