>>58958252Really one of the main reasons people were excited about the Gen 3 and 4 remakes back in the day were transfer mons after the Gen 1 and 2 dexcut. Emerald and Platinum are better games for their respective gens because they were actually made from the ground up around the new mechanics instead of shoehorning stuff into decade-old regions while keeping all the wild encounter rates and NPC trainers virtually the same.
In terms of features its god tier but the actual game just sucks as soon as the Radio Tower battles are over.

It is, it's just not the best JRPG. Playing it more like taking part in the Pokemon world is the way the game is best enjoyed, Morimoto even went hard on adding even more of that type of thing on top of what GSC already had. If you want a hard JRPG play the GameCube titles or USUM (you will be bored out of your mind in the latter but trust me it's really good), if you want a solid adventure with questionable combat play RSE or Gen 1, if you want an okay but incredibly standard JRPG play BW (you will also be bored out of your mind for most of it). Just be glad you're not playing something like DP, XY, or SS, where there's nothing good to get to and it's just the boredom.

Platinum gives you Gligar after two badges, Houndour after four, Yanma can be found without swarm gimmick. But HGSS just keeps the same dull poke spread as the originals, unless you want to play safarislop after five badges (good luck getting Missy in the ball and the dusk stone is locked in kanto anyway). GF couldn't even take their own hints with this shit.
