I would love it if NPCs had different reactions based on how badly you beat them. A different comment if you only just barely won vs. If you completely thrashed them.If you want a gameplay effect maybe make it so that if you beat them badly you get a bit more cash.

Make that tied to a online player profile so they can be showcased as originally envisioned for people you find in something like a PSS/Y-Comm/Terminal etc.>new-ishamiibo support for cards where you can save a team on them, have the card itself be a trainer card template or something, and make them relatively inexpensive ($2 per card should be reasonable). The cards can then be used as rental teams for battle facilities and the point of them is that you trade your cards with your friends so you can get a physical collection of teams. Official tournaments could also use these for validation in competitions and giving people the option who may not have phones but train Pokemon the ability to still battle, they'd just need a version of Champions that has an interface that allows Pokemon to be scanned in. The general idea comes from the Sword and Shield Trainer Cards, which allowed you to swap them like sports cards in game. This would be a physical version of that with some good uses. Also for whatever introductory game you have these in, have a special facility where you collect and go against the trainer cards you scan in with NPCs. Basically like the Trainer House with the Pokewalker or the IR reader in the Johto games. This would also make it so that you could just have people buy these for $2 and not need more to give you if they do not want to, there's just a scan option available.

You meet them in various locations doing random stuff, once they walk in grass saying they're catching a Pokemon, other time they trade you one, or even randomly walk through your screen without noticing about you.

Low power moves are more prevalent and it takes longer for the power of moves to creep up. Starting at 50 power just seems silly.HMs are back but they're all good moves that you can only have on one team member at once. More varied types that are beneficial to have eg. Cut could be flying type and has the potential to have good power, maybe scales with something so it isn't overpowered early on. Surf's overworld effects simply change with badges to allow waterfalling, whirlpooling and diving without taking up every move slot on an unfortunate water pokemon. Maybe a similar thing with combining rock smash + strength? I suppose the most fun would be to cut the number to 6 and give more leeway on what can learn them so each party member does something outside of battle. Basically, I like HMs but think they need to be a boost in battle rather than a burden to your party's overall coverage etc.I like my pokemon helping me traverse the terrain.
