As I play through LeafGreen, it makes me realize that these are the Pokemon games I engaged with least. I owned it as a kid, but I was kind of burnt out on Pokemon and did the bare minimum of beating the game and a quick run through the Sevii islands. I'm playing Ruby for the first time in 20+ years (but in Japanese) on mGBA. I found I can just load my save on a Sapphire ROM, so I can get version exclusives just by renaming the save which is cool. I'm also creating save states before certain points so I can get Pokémon through trading (starters, Groudon/Kyogre, Latios/Latias, Deep Sea Tooth/Deep Sea Scale).Problem is that when I open a multiplayer window, mGBA doesn't find any save files to load, whether they're .sav, .sa2, or whatever, meaning I'd have to start all over again. Anyone deal with this?

How often do romhacks cause bad eggs? I remember back when i was a kid i played a Emerald improvement hack (just stuff like day/night circle and graphical adjustments, not a massive overhaul or new game like Light Platinum) and when i got to the post Elite Four content my Pokemon started turning into bad eggs so to this day i'm scared shitless of playing anything hacked

Just beat the Champ. Had to grind against the E4 for a bit. Venasaur hit level 52, other 3 members in the 40's. Probably won't bother with the rematches, just post story on the islands then shiny hunting Deoxys.

Gen 1 was designed as a traditional JRPG and in gen 3 that still was the case, multiplayer (PvP) was an afterthought, a cool thing you could do but the games weren't designed with that in mind. TMs are the equivalent to weapons, strong or unique weapons are rare, this is also why most of the gen 1 level up learnsets are absolute ass but TM learn list are amazing
