I know you guys are busy with your honeymoon phase and the fact that the windmill doesn't run at 10fps but...
I just don't think this is the right artstyle for Pokemon, the Pokemon themselves don't blend very well and stick out like sore thumb
They NEED to stylize them more or use less realistic visuals like the 3DS games used to do.

I agree. It doesn’t really have an art style, or at least a strong direction . They ditched the sprites and sugimori’s watercolor/monster stuff.

They just want to compete graphically and sell toys instead of make something genuinely memorable.

I mean superior obvious comparison but look at Monster Hunter Stories for example, everything from the background, characters and creatures fit togheter nicely, and it's still high quality

With the newer games it doesn't look like we're entering the world of Pokemon, it looks like Pokemon are entering our own

Add voice acting or remove long cutscenes with dialogue. They're the options. As it is, I feel it has to many languages to do voice acting but hell maybe thats why its coming out next year.

Voice acting isn't required to make a game good, in fact it ruins games more than makes them better.

My biggest concerns are if it actually runs in what anybody would call an acceptable state, if the draw distsnce is higher than 20 meters, and if its actually released in a finished state. Graphically it looks alright to me. But if it chugs ass like S/V and is also made as lazily its a non starter for me.

This is also a big concern. I ak not gonna sit through 10 boxes of awkward dialog about friendship while the NPC clumsily animates talking. Make it short and sweet AND hire voice actors. Shit AI the voices for all I care, I just can't be put through another "pierce is apparently playing music and singing" cutscene.

The Pokemon designs in the OP are 30 and 24 years old. As far as the designs go, they're set in stone.
That's just me being snarky. I know you mean stuff like texture/materials, which yeah, true.
But these aren't the sort of changes that should wildly sway the world art style; they can be tweaked as necessary.
The art style should reflect the vibe of the game, and, even though it definitely looks like a tropical archipelago, I'm not convinced it'll go the extra distance to "feel" like one.

This honestly looks too bright and realistic, and would most certainly clash with the Pokemon designs.

Wind and Waves are much more stylized than OP is making them out to be. The colors are fairly earthy and cool, light and contrast is emphasized in a more painterly way, texture work is somewhat subdued and colors have a solidified, pastel look to them. It's not cel-shaded and is obviously grounded in realistic environments but there's a good visual consistency here.

I've always been of the opinion what Pokemon absolutely should never go for is realism. Pokemon designs are so cartoony, putting them in a photorealistic environment will always look off. Gen 7/8 are way better directions to go in. Like, I thought gen 8 looked pretty bad but the art style was never the issue, but purely the very low quality assets (see: N64 trees). Some cel-shading could do wonders.
But to be honest I think these games look good. Way better than Scarlet/Violet in any case. However, the bad thing is BECAUSE it looks much better than I was expecting, the natural expectation is now that it will run like absolute molasses. If it runs just as bad as Scarlet/Violet I swear to god
