I can listen to these songs on my phone for free unc
>>
I want to know its price. I'm thinking $100, easily.
>>
>>58972822
Why would we? We can already play the RBY soundtrack on YouTube for free. This is a cute but useless product.
>>
NFFFFFFFFFFF I MUST CONSOOM KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>
>Not available from Pokemon Center Germany
Then why the fuck is there German writing on the Pokemon Blue box
>>
It's a trinket, that's it. I mean, cool as a gift, maybe? But I had Hit Clips as a kid, ironically enough back when I was playing GB Pokemon the first time. Meh.

Also there's no price yet, it's only available on scalper central, and it's sort of fake nostalgia, like nobody was playing Red and Blue on an original Game Boy, they were huge movers of the Color and the Pocket had put the DMG out of production by 1998.
>>
No wonder they release FRLG. They clearly think their fans are retarded and will literally buy anything. Anyone can listen to any of these songs for free on youtube or anywhere else just like anyone can play the roms for FRLG for free on any device. But there will still be a lot of idiots buying
>>
>>58972822
For a second, I thought it was one cartridge that played all the music, NOT FUCKING 45 OF THEM FOR MUSIC THAT IS LESS THAN A MINUTE EACH. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
>>
FYI, the Japanese version is indeed Red and Green instead of Red and Blue
https://www.pokemon.co.jp/ex/gameboy_musiccollection/ja/

Priced at 9,900円 (63 USD, 53 Euros) although I don't know if that's one or both
>>
>>58972822
Going to buy this for my brother who has only played Gen 1
>>
>>58972822

>>
It will cost more than $20 so no. Even TPC wanted it over with, they just flashed the trailer with no explanation, and immediately moved on to other things.
>>
>>58972918
I played them on a DMG, because my mom already had one from before I was born.
>>
>>58972822
Yeah
It should have been 0, 1 or 4 cartridges only

Lol, lmao even

Real question is if the Red and Green version has the original Lavender Town music or not.

Pure e-waste. I might buy one to sell for $5,000 in 10 years but it is dumb as fuck.

That looks like something someone would buy purely for display purposes.

Looked at the website and it seems like no matter which one, they both contain cartridges for Red and Green
So for now I'd say 9.900 Yen is the price for either one, containing all cartridges
>>
Can't find it on the Pokemon Center website. Was curious to the price, but can't even find a listing.

>>58973056
I don't think even The Pokemon Company could get away with selling shitty-quality versions of Pokemon songs and not include all of them.
>>
>>58972822
why does each song require a seperate cartridge, couldn't they just make it a dedicated mp3 player that had all the songs preloaded and even a simple screen that cycled through screenshots of the games
>>
>>58972996
Fair enough, but that's pretty much an exception, in 1998 the Pocket was out for years, and a lot of people upgraded from the original at some point because of the batteries/screen. I expect that Red and Green on DMG was a much more common thing, of course, since the Pocket wasn't out yet.

I understand why they wouldn't have made two mini GB units, one resembling a Pocket for the west, but it's a bit disingenuous imo
>>
>>58973136
inb4 the cartridges just push down some buttons in the slot and everything is already loaded onto the main device
>>

Looking at past gens, yes, it's common knowledge that Pokémon fans have no standards and will buy anything
>>
>>58972969
I didn't think it could get any stupider, but holy shit, that is monumentally retarded. It's one thing for it to be blatant nostalgia bait, but this is just too fucking inconvenient for any actual use. How many people who will buy this will actually use it to listen to that music?
>>
>>58973244
>re-release
I am jealous though because the standalone FRLG soundtrack is insanely expensive.
I would have taken a box set of all the old CD soundtracks over this Gameboy thing honestly, the DS ones are rape-priced second hand, and my RS discs are starting to corrupt.
>>
>>58973314

Scalpers will buy every single one the second western orders go live.
>>
I thought they were going to be rereleasing Red and Blue as actual cartridges for a moment.

$60 is not bad for a gimmick like this.
USA version price is absolutely gonna be $99 or $199 because fuck NA lol
>>
>>58972822
If it was a more premium stand with one four carts Red/Yellow/Green/Blue that had many songs and slides each, it could be kind of neat. The one song per cart thing and cheap look makes it look like a gimmick thing not even worth owning as a novelty.
>>
>>58973258
>>58973378
I'm sure Nintendo forbade them from making any kind of device that could potentially be hacked so that people keep paying for virtual console.
But this has me thinking that a soulful product could have been, like:
>mini Game Boy models that plug into a TV
>with mini cartridges that have the corresponding classic game on them
>can link together via link cables

Not that pricey, I found it in Osaka when I went there last June and it was 11k yen with the obi (used obviously)
Compared to the DS soundtracks…
>DS ones are rape-priced second hand
Yeah, look at the 21k DP and 30k HGSS soundtracks…
I ultimately splurged and bought the HGSS soundtracks at 23k yen from a different Osaka shop; and I kind of want to search for and see if I can find DP slightly cheaper when I go to Japan next because BDSP is clearly not getting a soundtrack at this point so there’s little hope of DP being reprinted via a BDSP soundtrack….

Actually, when I was in Tokyo they still had it new and in stock (….and I just realized that they had a sign up at top right explaining that the DS soundtracks are OOP and impossible to find for a decent price anymore)
>>
>>58973626
They've dropped some over the years I guess, but still I find it hard to justify buying a soundtrack for almost $100. And the FRLG soundfont is kind of hit or miss for me, I can understand why the RS one is more expensive now.
The HGSS one is so expensive because it has the Game Boy tracks on it too, right? Were they the actual GS songs or just the Game Boy Sounds versions?

I’m not too bothered by RS or FRLG because those discs were reprinted in their entirety as part of ORAS and RG soundtracks so at least I still own those discs in a way
>The HGSS one is so expensive because it has the Game Boy tracks on it too, right?
That and HGSS, like DP, has not been reprinted yet unlike RS and FRLG so there’s no other way to get the discs (at least that’s what I think), that in addition with the DS era and HGSS being nostalgia bait for a lot of people probably jacked up the prices
>Were they the actual GS songs or just the Game Boy Sounds versions?
The GB Sounds versions; which were actually brand new arrangements made specifically for HGSS because the DS couldn’t perfectly recreate the GB sound chip
The translated interview here:
https://dogasu.bulbagarden.net/features/interview_hgss_sound.html
Explains it all better, it’s really worth a read
You can find the raw scans from the booklet (and interview) here too:

>>
>>58973999
Kantykes and their undying nostalgia can be squeezed for any amount of money.
>>
>>58974137
Yeah more than anything I like the jacket art for the Gen III soundtracks, getting a hold of the discs cheaper is pretty nice though.
I wonder if the DS ones will ever be reprinted? BDSP seems to be buried and forgotten already, but I thought they might do some Sinnoh set for Legends...

>GB Sounds versions
That's what I had always thought, which is cool in its own way, but I wish they would just release a proper GSC soundtrack.

Well technically there was a box set of sorts, back in 2024 when they first came out, if you bought all of the Sword and Shield/Legends Arceus/Scarlet and Violet soundtracks together from the Pokemon Center you’d get this exclusive box/case that was meant to fit all 3 soundtracks smoothly. By the time I went in June 2024, the box was gone
Although I already own all 3 of the soundtracks, I kinda not regret buying it second hand at pic related price (which I think is decent for getting all 3 + the exclusive box)
