I waited for months to get HG and Platinum but in the end, they were only able to get HG so I got a completely new and sealed copy of HG and had to get a 2nd hand platinum copy

What are all the shiny hunting methods in HGSS and are they any less frustrating than FRLG?Wanted to SR for a shiny starter but with the 8100 chance and nothing to make it easier, I got frustrated pretty fast by the second day of just soft resetting.So far I'm aware of SR a starter, just wild encounters and Masuda Method and apparently, unlike the other Gen 4 games, there's no poke radar here to chain encounters.Will a PokeHex'd japanese Ditto work fine?When SRing starters, do you have to go to the Summary screen to check?
