Hau is a great rival and fits the theme of the game perfectly. The Island Challenge is about a coming of age story, not about conquering a league. Hop giving up always seemed fucked up to me because he's essentially the closest a supporting character has gotten to main character status in the mainline games.He literally plays an equal part with you in saving the world from Eternatus, and has just as much connection with the opposing box legendary as you do your own. Before that the only character who got that close to the top with you was N. And he was directly opposing you. Yet Hop still feels so insecure compared to his brother that he doesn't even want to fight back anymore. It's fucking sad.
