I was told that the European version of FRLG in the eShop is 39 MB, while the American version is 40 MB. Why is there a difference? I suspected that the Game Corner might be censored in the European versions, but it's NOT.So why is there a difference at all? Does anyone know?
>>58993258Americans are more obese
>>58993258US sends telemetry to Nintendo
>>58993258americans get more hidden rare candies
>>58993268>US sends telemetry to NintendoI think all versions do, not just USA
>>58993258I already bought the European version of LeafGreen, so now I'm worried I'm missing out on something because of that 1 MB difference.
I hope someone knows the reason for that 1 MB difference because it's really annoying me. Any information would be much appreciated.
>about to buy >see this>goncernAlso, I know you can move pokemon out of these ports, but can you move stuff in or trade? I want firered but I really want a sandshrew
>>58993429I already bought LeafGreen and now my OCD is fucking me up because of this 1 MB difference.
>>58993461Someone might have to ask a dataminer or those people that decompile/take the code apart for fun on twitter or something
>>58993429>but can you move stuff in or trade? You can't move Pokemon from Home to FRLG. You can trade over local wireless.
>>58993481>you can trade over local wirelessOh well, that's nice they included the option but now I'll have to see what friends are getting it.
>>58993481>>58993489Oh and thank you for the response anon
>>58993493You're welcome bro!I just hope someone can answer the question in the OP. I'm literally considering buying the game AGAIN, but this time from the American eShop, if there's more content in the American FRLG version.
>>58993517I hope someone can answer it too. I just checked the store and while the uk english version is 39mb, the german, french and spanish versions are 38mb.
>>58993399It's against the GDPR in EU. They cannot legally do it without asking your consent, which they don't.
>>58993738Oh really? That might explain the 1 MB difference! I hope so. This would (surprisingly) make the European version the superior version, especially for players who don't want to be "spied".
>>58993559>while the uk english version is 39mb, the german, french and spanish versions are 38mbWtf??? This is even more confusing.
I saw a someone saying the nugget glitch is patched on the german version, is it possible the burger and jap versions still have it in and might partially explain differences?
>>58993804That's possible. I hope someone can confirm it if true.
>>58993804>>58993847If we're talking about the Nugget Bridge glitch, then it's still in the English release, I farmed 25 of them last night for shits and giggles
>>58993804>>58993924I can confirm I did it on Japanese version
>>58993924That's the one, burger english or bonglish? Just to confirm>>58993962Interesting.So if we take that german at their word and they arent doing it wrong, we have a confirmed version difference.
>>58993977I'm a burger, so that's the one I got
>>58993268>US sends telemetry to NintendoThis is actually the best guess sofar in this thread. It explains why the US English ROM is 1 MB larger than the European English ROM.But it still doesn't explain why the Spanish/French/German European version is 1 MB smaller than even the English European version.
>>58994337>But it still doesn't explain why the Spanish/French/German European version is 1 MB smaller than even the English European version.Words, maybeMore or less words depending on the languageAnd the difference between US and EU may be something related to Game CornerSeriously, did absolutely no one buy the EU version?
>>58993924Nugget bridge is fixed in the German version. So it‘s probably a version with bugfixes and shit.
>>58993804>>58993977>>58994671The Nugget Bridget glich is fixed in all EU version EXCEPT the english one because it's a straight port of the US version.
>>58994640>Seriously, did absolutely no one buy the EU version?Euros tend to have higher IQ than Americans, so no, nobody bought it.
>>58993804Wasn't it fixed since GBA releases for non-US versions?
>>58994701>EXCEPT the english one because it's a straight port of the US versionAre you SURE that the English European version is a straight port of the USA version? If this is true, and the USA version is still 1 MB larger than the European English version, then it really must be larger because of Telemetry, like another anon said here earlier.
>>58994971Just tried it on my EU english version. It still works.
>>58995188So the American version and the English European version really are the exact same? That's a relief. It means that I'm not missing out on anything from the American version. Thanks!
>>58994866>Wasn't it fixed since GBA releases for non-US versions?Anyone?
>>58994866I think you might be right, because it doesn't make sense for them to only fix Spanish/German/French but not the American version.
>>58993738In the USA this would be pagan, demonic, satanic, occult, socialist, communist, feminist, democratic, anti-God, pro-nature, anti-man, and Jewish.
>>58993738Windows 10 and 11 don't allow you to opt out officially. All you can do without going out of your way is to select "Required data only". Minecraft has telemetry that you need mods for to disable. On top of the launcher's telemetry. None of that is explained to the player outside of the privacy policy before data is collected. Companies don't care about the GDPR and Nintendo is not known for consumer friendliness or playing by the law.
>>58996096Not that anon, but what he said makes sense I think, because the American English version and the European English version are identical, yet the European English version is still 1 MB smaller (40 MB vs 39 MB). So, the lack of telemetry in the European English version because of EU laws could explain this?I think this is the best guess in this thread. If it's not the telemetry, what else could this extra MB be, considering that the Game Corner is intact in all versions?
>>58993258>>58993420There is no difference. The US/JP releases were originally listed as 40MB, and the European releases were originally listed as 39MB. When they updated the eShop to re-add the "Home compatibility coming soon" line, they corrected the filesize as well to be 39MB on the US/JP eShops. All of them now list the game as being 39MB.The speculation about the European eShop release having the Game Corner slots removed is also complete bullshit. The US English/Spanish/French releases are identical to the European English/Spanish/French releases.>>58993738It's account wide, idiot. You opt into or out of sharing your data when you create a Nintendo account. That said, even if you do opt out, the games still collect your data, they just don't send it.>>58994866Yes, but that was the only thing that was fixed in those versions. It works in the English and Japanese versions, because there was never an English or Japanese release that fixed the Nugget Bridge glitch. The 1.0 Switch Release is based on the most recent release for each version of the game.>>58993771Different languages take different amounts of text to say the same thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>58996804>There is no difference. The US/JP releases were originally listed as 40MB, and the European releases were originally listed as 39MB. When they updated the eShop to re-add the "Home compatibility coming soon" line, they corrected the filesize as well to be 39MB on the US/JP eShops. All of them now list the game as being 39MB.So the US/JP Switch versions being 40 MB was a mistake, and they're actually also 39 MB! Thank you so much for sharing this info. My OCD brain can finally take a break from overthinking that fake 1 MB difference LOL. Still, I wonder why they were originally listed as 40 MB, but it must've been an oversight I guess. One more thing: did they fix all the same glitches in all versions? I imagine they probably just forgot to fix the Nugget Bridge Glitch in US/UK/JP versions then. I hope that's the only difference between games. My main concern is the Roar glitch.
>>58996859>My main concern is the Roar glitch.Roar glitch seems to be the only glitch that's fixed, at least as far as I've heard, and it's fixed in at least English, Japanese and German so I'd assume it's fixed in all languages.
>>58996868Source for this claim?
>>58996868They fixed the roar glitch but not the 0IV glitch?
>>58997538Source is "literally let them use Roar and check the Pokedex for their location afterward".
>>58997565Small price to pay considering they left all the fun stuff in (i.e. mail glitch for ACE)
>>58997789Sure, but it's still kinda crazy that they didn't fix it, when they DID fix it for Emerald. Your roaming Lati won't have shit stats in Emerald.
>>58997829>Sure, but it's still kinda crazy that they didn't fix it, when they DID fix it for Emerald. Your roaming Lati won't have shit stats in EmeraldDid Emerald even have this glitch to begin with? Maybe it was never a glitch in Emerald so they didn't need to fix anything
>>58997829>>58998621Emerald came out after FRLG
>>58998631I know that obviously. But my point is that Emerald maybe just didn't have a glitch there (with the Latis). Did Ruby and Sapphire have that glitch?
>>58999336>Did Ruby and Sapphire have that glitch?yes
>>58999350So the Latis in Ruby and Sapphire always had zero IVs? I didn't know because I've never actually played RS, I always play Emerald for the Gen 3 Hoenn experience.
>>58999423HP IV would act as normal.Attack IV could only be as high as 7 and every other IV would always end up 0 due to the bug.
>>58997565The Roar glitch fix is a simple flag reset if they use Roar, and can be done directly to the save data. The 0IV glitch would require a much more in depth fix that could cause other bugs elsewhere
Do people really give a shit about the telemetry thing? I really couldn't give a shit if Game Freak knows Im using Hitmonchan on my console I use for gaming and only gaming.>>58999423Basically the bug is that they fucked up the way the data for roamers is saved for encounters so it only saves the first 4 or 8 bytes or whatever which is why attack is capped and everything after that is 0. It IS fixed in emerald, and obviously doesn't apply to the eon ticket Lati or colo beasts so normal stats for these mons were always possible and not relevant to simulator play.
>>58999622>Do people really give a shit about the telemetry thing?Yes because it only exists so they can hardware ban your Switch.
>>58999712nah it's also there to see which pokemon you favor so they can figure out what to make for the next gen
>>58999791If everyone rolled a geodude would we get more rock pokemon?
>>58999797yeah but they would all be gay
USA english have more slurs to be filtered.
>>58999828if you can't figure out how to bypass a child-tier filter it's on youit took me all but 2 minutes
>>58999797If more people use geodude it means onix will be on the next dexcut
>>58999423It's only for the roaming ones. One of the Latis appears as a static encounter on Southern Island, that one can have any IVs as normal. Using ACE codes in Emerald you can respawn the Latis and re-trigger the selection event, moving the Lati you didn't catch to Southern Island to catch it as a static encounter to avoid the bug.
>>58999880can onix not be shit for once?
>>58999910It can't be shit if it doesnt exist.
dont be mean to chadix
>>58999712I hate to break it to you, but every single Nintendo published game since the 3DS has has telemetry in it. Including the VC releases of the Gen 1/2 Pokemon games. They don't use it to ban you, they use it to collect data on how you play the game, and if you opt out of it on an account level, they don't get to see shit.Take your tin foil hat off, nigga.
>>59000619I agree with you
