please share images of zoomies experiencing gen 3 for the first time
>zoomiesI played Emerald when i was 8 downloading vba on Windows XP
>>58996345>zoomies27 and leafgreen was the first pokemon game i played thoughever
There's being retarded, and then there's posting insanely bad RNG. This man is posting the worst fucking RNG imaginable, I don't know how you could possibly think this is being bad at the game. It's like somebody posting the shiny Geodude or whatever exploding on them and complaining they're bad at video games.
>>58996363>leafgreen was the first pokemon game i played thougheverI'm sorry you didn't play the originals and played the gayer version first
>>58996345Zoomer here, played FRLG for the first time in 2005, sorry I didn't take pics back thenBut I can tell you that Poison freaked me out with the glitching effect
Moron just switching and getting other pokemon put to sleep instead of waiting for wake up
>team full of freshly caught shitmon and squirtle starter on Route 3>is surprised the early game lethal joke is bodying him
>>58996358>>58996363>>58996435you're an early zoomeryou try to push the "zillennial" memeof course this doesn't concern you
>>58996378>bad rnglevel 3 Jigglypuff only knows Sing. All you do is stay in a wait to wake up. they're either severally retarded or trolling
>>58997384this is a completely fair reaction, I've played FRLG several times before and the elite 4 is a legitimately left-field difficulty spikesame with hgss elite 4 and bw postgame elite 4
>>58996345>zoomiesThe average zoomer is closer to 30 than 18.>t. 1997 baby and Yellow was my first game
>>58997580average zoomer intelligencethe last zoomers were born no later than 2009—aka, 17 years old
>>58997577DP also does this.
>>58996427I was born in ‘97 and don’t miss gen 1/2 all that much. I liked the atmosphere in some ways a bit more but going back on the 3ds and trying to play them is a slog. The PC system and lack of boxes in particular really threw me for a loop. I guess when you’re like 4 or 5 and it’s all you know it’s fine but with all the quality of life improvements since gen 3 it makes it hard to go back. I still don’t understand why they didn’t add the day/night cycle in hgss all the way through, they just added a filter that makes it look like it’s cloudy instead.
>>58997577>this is a completely fair reactionNo it’s not, I’m mid 30s and I haven’t even beat Erika yet. Haven’t done any grinding at all even, just battled every trainer I come across once and even went out of my way to put most of my high level pokemon in the pc to evolve low level mons along the way. My Raichu would be that Raichu’s level if I didn’t put it on the sidelines almost constantly.
>>58997577>b-b-but i NEED to be the same level as the other guy!the ai is at an inherent disadvantage, just play betterif the level wasn't visible this wouldn't even be a discussion
>>58996345>Pikachu named Weedle>Kakuna (caught as a Weedle I presume) named PikachuDid this dude think this was funny?
>>58996358Same for me but with a rom emulator on my phone.
>>58997734I fail to see how your post is relevant
Why don't zoomers just stock up on Full Restores and Revives like everyone did in 2004? What are they even saving their poke cash for?
>>58997384my highest level entering victory road is 44, and I'm running a team of 5. Although I would not run a dragonite in gen 3 in general without a lucky egg.
>>58996358>>58996363>>58996435>>58997315I finally feel represented
>>58998099>using items(You) didn't beat the game.
'nons, both my Blastoise and Kadabra are HP Grass, but I've only got the 1 TM, who should use it?Blastoise: Surf, Hydro Pump, Bite, Ice BeamKadabra: Psychic, Shockwave, Teleport, Calm Mind
>>58998475Don't bother with Hidden Power, on random IVs you'll be lucky if its base power is stronger than 40.
>>58998490Oh shit, I didn't realize it had a random BPI thought it was like a flat 60
>>58998496Only in gen 6 onward.
I can’t understand how people behave like this but fromsoftware games are among the most popular on the planet
>>58997384This is rarely mentioned for some reason even though it should be obvious but it also depends on which mon you're using. Like if your team is mostly comprised of underleveled shitmons, of course you'll have trouble against fucking Gengar
>>58996345Despite how much outrage the FRLG rereleases caused last week I've hardly seen anyone talk about it now that they're out.
>>58998549Post your team, anon
>>58997712you're a retard
>>58996345This is the result of sleep clause smoggietards instinctively switching out the Pokémon every time it gets put to sleep instead of trying to wait it out.
>>58997712>HGSS night looks uglytrvke
>>58996345Holy fuck people still suck at the main playthroughs? The AI never switches, just spam Twave or setup sweep and giggle
>>58996345you can literally cheese this game with squirtle alone. how is twitter so bad with this game?
>Get to E4>Remove all pokemon except Raichu>Spam E4 runs until Raichu can solo the first one>Add next pokemon>RepeatTactics? Never heard of em.
>>58996519>>58996566>>58999294>>58999410The Jigglypuff is level 3, the zoomer is clearly trying to catch it.
>>58999457This is exactly the best way to scout/beat the elite 4 in any pokemon game, the first time you play them.
>>58997384The correct response here is "suck it up and git gud, or otherwise waste hours grinding". Those are the options, whether one likes it or not. If there's one place where an otherwise mellow RPG has the chance to show some teeth, it's the final boss gauntlet.
>>58997384>stratlets can't handle winning fights at a level disadvantage anymoreSad!
>>58999457Oh yeah I forgot to mention buy tons of full restores or whatever so I have no liquid cash to lose during my spamathon.
>>58997577>same with hgss elite 4Claire prepares you for the HGSS e4 well in advance
>>58996363same brudda
It's been shocking to see the decline in intelligence among my fellow zoomers as this generation has progressedMost of my (2003) peers are pretty retarded, but it seems to only get worse by the year for the ones born laterAt least it can be amusing during situations like this
>>59000480>2003you're pushin it yourself. you're basically a broccoli head frfr no cap zoomer.
>>58997577>>58997694Correct. It's the only legitimate way to make the E4 hard which is understandable. The solution is always immediately obvious for any kids playing which is good too. It's just boring having to grind it out when you're accustomed to the modern games that speed up that up for you.
>>59000496>broccoli head frfr no capAs a 26 year old, surely it’s only the young zoomers (under 20) who look and act like that? I’d be very concerned if anyone older than that did it too.
>>58999457>All this effort when you can just be good at the game lol
>>58999457You don't get it. Zoomers HATE losing at vidya. Back in our day, when we lost, we would just try again until we finally won, and THAT would be the ultimate victory. That you FINALLY overcame the odds. Zoomers, on the other hand, have grown up with save states, speedup and rewind functionality, none of which these FRLG ports have. That's why there's so many tweets of them having a meltdown over what was once considered to be bare minimum difficulty.
>>59000611But my number go up, so I win.
>>58997384>>58997577>Replaying FR last year>Set style no healing items in battle as usual>Wipe a few times against Lance>Devise perfect strategy>sacrificial Arbok spreading status and intimidate, Scyther barely outspeeding key mons, Dewgong just bulky enough to tangle with Dragonites>It is time.>Make it to Lance (again)>His Aerodactyl somehow hits FOUR CONSECUTIVE ANCIENTPOWER STAT BOOSTS>Every ounce of strategy and resource planned for the Dragonites is spent on this fucking skyterror>The dactyl is dead>So am I
>>59000674They also grow up with competitive games and single player games like Dark Souls where if you die=you lose/suck. There's also the rise of speedrunning, which shows them 'this is how you play the game'. It's easy to see why they don't think of ways to beat a game besides trudging along and hoping it works out
>>58999457>>58997577>>59000727E4 rematch is the actual difficulty spike>no easily viable way to even grind to match the levels outside of Pickup for Rare Candies, maybe Seven Island rematches but you have to go against near whole ass teams>every single fucking physical attacker is running Earthquake>champion just straight up has a Tyranitar and summons sand>Special Attackers after Lorelei have all of the coverage neededGranted I am trying to use a Magnemite and a Dragonair, but still.
>>58997384I don't know why this is considered such a hot take, if you're playing blind you're guaranteed to have to grind at some point. Or even if you decide to change up your strategy for some particular reason. I think all of you have just played the gen3 games to death and have every intricacy ingrained in your memory so you tend to forget this. There's a reason pokemon streamers (especially nuzlockers) tend to abuse rare candies and emulator speedups.
>>59000596There are signs of it in my age group, but you're right that we're not totally mindrotted
>>58998460>not using itemsYou didn't even play.
>>58997384desu fair. I stopped playing my leafgreen copy as a kid because the grinding needed for the e4 was just boring to me
>>58997384Giovanni is level 41, you mean you only gained 4 levels in all of victory road? Smells sus.
>>58997384Will never understand people who feel the need to grind in a Pokemon game. This shit is not hard even with a 10 level difference. Same people would shit their pants when fighting Red
>>59001233Is that something that happens often in your life? That there are things you don't understand?
>>59001264When it comes to dumb people making dumb decisions and being upset about it? Yes.
>>59001284So there are often things you dont understand, and also you have trouble understanding other people and their actions? This seems like pretty severe autism, by the symptoms.
>>58997384all you do is buy as much shit as you need in the shop at the elite 4 pokemon center then die over and over if you're too shit but you also get tons of exp and level faster than anywhere else at the same time so you catch up fast or get lucky even if you can't beat it
>>58997384Each Elite 4 member being much stronger than the last was a good feature.
>>58997384>My DragonairSo this retard hates grinding but he's using a Pokémon that needs more EXP to level up
>>59001291Cute armchair diagnoses. Seems like you have firsthand experience with living like the aforementioned dumb people. Sounds worse than severe autism. My condolences
>>59001329It's not, but thank you for your concern. I'm sorry that this conversation was yet another thing that you don't understand in life.
>>59001333>It’s notIt is but can’t expect an idiot like yourself to understand. Being dumb is the worst fate in life. God bless your parents for raising someone dumb. Now do tell why you need to grind in these baby games?
>>59001360I don't know how I can be more clear to you than this but "I get irrationally angry over little things and struggle to understand social situations, but I am better than children at a children's video game" isnt the gigachad stance that you think it is.
>>59001329>>59001333You two are fucking embarrassments, arguing like children over grinding in Gen 3. If all you're going to do is smugly accuse each other of being autistic, then clearly you both ran out of steam with the argument pretty quickly. Now drop it and stop making this board more faggy than it already is.
>>59001368>Avoiding the question Typical idiot. Try not being dumb for once and answer the question.
>>59001373Don’t think I asked or need your approval to post so nah. There is no argument. You don’t need to grind to beat these games. That’s an objective fact.
>>59001373If that's what you thought I was saying you should read more carefully. >>59001384I was never talking about the games, your question is irrelevant. You're not showing me that you dont get irrationally angry, though.
>>59001400>I wasn’t talking about the gamesSo then your posts are irrelevant and off topic?
>>59001420Man, 100% of my replies to you have been about you. Are you only just now realizing because I spelled it out for you? Is this another thing in your life that you struggle to understand? This list is getting pretty long.
>>59001423So is it off topic? Classic idiot deviating from the topic at hand. Why do you have trouble following the rules?
Whenever I get that itch for pokemon I just beat the original red or blue again in about 3 hours using glitches instead of wasting my life doing retarded shit.Retarded shit such as:>grinding for anything>hunting shinies for 1000s of hours>ev/iv training>breeding perfect pokemon>caring about keeping my pokemon my whole entire life and having to pay a subscription for home.
>>59001434Its a twitter ragebait thread and I'm here to mock people who get ragebaited by this. You'd see that it was on topic if you weren't so spun up in ragebait. I guess it's just another thing that you don't understand in life.
>>59001445Now that's some quality bait.
>>59001458It's not even supposed to be bait unless it angers you that I love the original games and don't have the compulsion to grind 1000s of hours in the newer games doing stupid shit.
>>59001466Okay man, I already spotted it, another pass isn't going to get me lol
>>59001451It’s not on topic though. None of your posts are talking about zoomers playing Gen 3 for the first time. Now answer the question you’re too scared to answer.
>>59001486It is, I'm sorry you don't understand that either.
>>59001497It’s not. Sorry you’re unable to see that. Feel free to answer the question when you’re able to.
>>59001541I know you really want me to defend a position that I never took but repeating it isnt making you look at better here.
>>59001445This is why I wish Gens 1 and 2 got a rerelease on Switch instead. FRLG is more of a slog due to the Gen 3 movepools/abilities on NPCs, and there are fewer ways to cheese the game and complete the dex or have more varied playthroughs with glitches.
>>58997384You keep your EXP when you lose. You keep all your items too. The only thing you lose is the money you don't spend. Each attempt you come back stronger. It's literally impossible to not eventually win unless your entire team is so shit it gets swept by the first opponent.
>>59001614>Still avoiding an answerNot helping your idiotic look. Why are you so scared?
>>59001647Repeating things that someone smarter than you said isn't the same as being clever yourself.
>>59001475I'm confused about what you're even talking about.
>>59001651>Still avoiding an easy question Why are you so scared? The pseudo intellectualism isn’t fooling anyone.
Pokemon is unplayable without the Exp All
>>59001616at least they did it on 3ds I guess. but yeah you should be able to play those on switch 1/2 as well because I really doubt it's much effort just to put them on.
>>59001678Nah. Also I heard recent games don't even let you turn it off, which is lame.
>>59001672Sure man. Why are you gay? If you dont answer you're avoiding it, nevermind the obvious setup or cringe attempt to get an own in after being so deeply read.
>>58996358I was born in '06, and my first Pokemon game was Red Version on the 3DS VC.
>>59001706>Cringe attempt at an epic own>Using “why are you gay?” like some insecure middle schoolerAnyway, you ready to answer the question?
>>59001724holy based
>>59001678Huh that's weird it sure wasn't unplayable back in the day. What changed?
>>58997384>what? I can LOSE to endgame trainers?
>>59001769People getting dumber
>>58996345
>>58997384You don't need to match their level, they don't have EVs or badge boost. I do like to get my team to at least level 50 for the E4 but that is needed for my playstyle (first caught Pokemon, no items, no TMs, Set style)
>>59001727Pretending to be retarded is never the winning move.
>>59000596Broccoli hair stopped being a tred for a while, everyone's wearing mullets now, and even that is kinda fizzling outThis just goes to show how out of touch this board is
>>59001823Answer the question.
>>59001683Yeah it just sucks because the 3DS eshop is shut down now. I would’ve rather they released Ruby and Sapphire on Switch if they had to do Gen 3, since frankly they are better games than FRLG (especially if you include Emerald). FRLG are really tedious because you are stuck with the same wild encounter rates and NPC trainers as Gen 1, but all the enemies have Gen 3 moves and abilities, which means more STAB and annoying shit like Poison Point and Cute Charm. Lavender Town is particularly bad because you go from Gen 1 where you can use Dig on all the Gastly and Haunter to Gen 3 where they all have Levitate, and nothing can really outspeed+oneshot them with a super effective move aside from Kadabra. If you don’t oneshot them then you get to eat Lick, Nightshade, and Hypnosis repeatedly.
>>59000727And you'll remember that battle forever, unlike if you just stomped the E4 without a problem.
>>58997384I dunno I think Hoenn has the easiest E4 with Drake and Steven being challenge. Kanto is super hard cause the E4 also runs Johto. I guess Bruno uses Machamp for Kanto, Hitmontop for Johto. There's nothing you can do against Agatha cause old Gengar has no real weakness. It's just hitting the thing hard and hopes it dies. I didn't train when I beat them. I just gave Snorlax Hyper Beam and let its nuke everything while hoping my surfer uses Blizzard. The original 150 were actual monsters and not mascots.
Gen 1 milleniboomer here. Never played FRLG. Is it worth playing for the Sevii Island content?
>>59002110If you went this long without playing you have an answer already.
>>59002110>Is it worth playing for the Sevii Island content?no, it is very forgettable.
>>59002110One of my earliest memories is seeing FRLG advertised at the electronics till in Woolwoths and thinking "what is the fucking point?"
>>59001932Do you even remember what question. And if so, have you realized why I compared it to why are you gay yet? Or is that something else that you don't understand?
>>58996358Same.
>>59002110No it’s pretty pointless to play it now when you can already play RBY on 3DS or LGPE on Switch. The only good Gen 3 game is Emerald.
>>59002110No, just look up pictures of Lorelei's house so you can laugh at her being a sore loser.
>>59002838Gen Z played gen 3 when we were kids. It's more like "casualfaggot tourists discover [blank]"
>>59002857Not to mention that Gen 4 kept poison outside of battle, with the sole difference being that it leaves you at 1hp instead of fainting
>>59002901I'm playing gen 5 for the first time now, though it's a romhack, and I noticed you no longer take damage from poison outside of battle. It's convenient but does feel a bit lame.
>>59002931It makes poison go from a legitimately threatening status (particularly early-game) to a nothingburger like the rest. I was never a fan of them removing that.
>>58996345who wants megakick?
I thought of chosing Leaf and her team from Pokemon Adventures, but I don't think it would work.
>>59002937between turning every cave/route into a hallway, getting rid of poison out of battle, and make tms reusable, they really did babify pokemon in gen 5.don't get me wrong, it's at least convenient being able to reuse tms. but it's definitely telling of the overall trend of the games going from already-easy to preschool mode because toddlers whined about Mt Coronet being hard or something.
Most of my team was around 50 when I hit the league and fighting the E4 just made them close the gap a bit more. Do these people just avoid fighting trainers entirely or something?
>>58997384>you can NOT argue that grinding wasn't intendedIT'S A FUCKING JRPG!
>>59002963Reusable TMs should have been a post-game thing, it's really silly how much of a powerspike they give you in the early game.
>>59003476All the good tms gen 5 were post-game anyway.Things didn't get bad until gen 7 where you get brick break before the first boss.
>>58996566>>58996345>Pikachu called Weedle >Kakuna called Pikachu Reminds me of a certain screencap of some VGC tourney from the early days of X&Y in which a Ditto named Zoroark was battling against a Zoroark named Ditto.
>>59001169>openly admitting to being this badlol
>>59000754Modern gamers view things like "grinding" or "having to see a game over screen" as being "disrespectful to their time and/or dopamine needs". If they have to stop and think, prepare, or do anything but hold down a button to win, then it's considered bad game design.
>>59002227I do. Now answer the question.
>>58997384Just paralyze it???
>>58999667To be honest, even as a baby I haven't struggled with the E4 in these classic titles, nor new ones save few bulky mons or rematch buffs using hyper offense kits.Gen 2 and 3 had enough filler TMs with strong enough utility and most E4 mons stats or level up movesets were nothing exceptional. Headbutt Hypnosis Stantler felt like a killing machine in Gen 2 and Gen 3 had enough cheese mons too.Gengar is a legit cunt, no debate, even if it didn't have special STAB back then, off type special coverage was enough with Levitate, it's all a matter of outspeeding and not using slow frail mixed attackers.
>>58997384Reminder that you do not need to grind for the e4 and this isn’t some sort of hot take.
>>59002963Gen V is the GOAT. Streamlined the bullshit, maximized the fun.
>>59004822the lackluster design of the map, routes, and caves wasn't really "streamlining" though
"Hidden" items now sparkling on the ground was a disgrace
>>59005080That animation only happens when you're on top of the secret items retard (The two Leftovers where Snorlax were sleeping and Macho brace).
>>59004617Hey there unc. Games are supposed to be fun not a second job that you sink hours grinding into for bragging rights.
>>58998055Might be a Pokemon Rusty reference.
>>59001208There are zero mandatory trainers in Victory Road.
>>59002108>old Gengar has no real weaknessIt's Poison-type, just click Psychic. Also the original Gengar in RBY didn't have Levitate so Earthquake was good too.
>>59002110The Sevii Island content isn't great, but if you loved Red and Blue, FRLG is pretty neat. Has an Elite Four rematch and the Switch version let's you get pokemon that were Nintendo event only on GBA after you beat the Elite Four, by just giving you event tickets. You can get Mew and Deoxys
>>58997384>Complaining about being underleveled despite being in the gen with the easiest way to level up pre-xp share changesDo people just not use the vs seeker?
>>59003476Disagree. If the TMs suddenly become reusable post-game, you are now encouraged to horde all of the TMs and not use them on your regular playthrough.
>>59005080>>59005188Not only that but you must actively use the Itemfinder for that animation.
>>58997734>I’m mid 30s and I haven’t even beat ErikaDamn dude I beat her when I was 8.
>>59005757I beat off to her when I was 8
>>59005714>You can get Mewno you cant. its ho-oh/lugia and deoxys. mew was in emerald
>>59005726You don't even need the vs seeker, I just went around beating all trainers and had a full team of lv 50 mons before the league and I had a bunch of other mons around 30-40 that I dropped at some point
>>59002838my first main series game was platinum and when i got poisoned for the first time i thought my ds screen was broken
>>58997384If I lost to Bruno that would be a very closely guarded secret.
I've defeated all trainers with no grinding and my team coming into the e4 is all lvl 50sI feel like having them have higher lvl pokemons is mandatory because I've been one shotting everything since route 2.When I was a kid my charizard was like lvl 70-75, one shotted everything and blast burnt Blastoise
saw some zoom-zooms quitting when they found out there was no exp all and tms weren't infinitely reusable
>>58996345lmao no fucking way this guy is struggling against a lvl 3 Jigglypuff >>58996566they ought to kys, we need the oxygen more than they do
Farming these Nuggets is putting me to sleep. How much money do I even need really?
>>58997577>>58997384>imagine being expected to play the game instead of being gifted exp like crazyI'm telling you, modern pokemon is poison for the mind
>>59006103Masuda was right though, about dumbing down Pokemon to stay relevant to the very real modern audience you see before you
>>59005822At least it doesn’t make you faint any more
>>58996358My first Pokemon experience was like this>be born in 2002>Dad hated Japs so initially grow up thinking all Japanese stuff is retarded>At my grandma's one day>My aunt brings my older cousin's GBC>Get bored and play Silver having no idea what I was doing>Cousin is at Morty in his save so I try to beat Morty>Get assblasted but there's a Togepi on the team>Somehow manage to win with Togepi just because Ghost types can't hit Normal types>Get curious about Red and start the game over, fucking up my cousin's save file>Have a fun time trying to beat Brock>Eventually beg my parents for Pokemon Platinum>Weeks later cousin is pissed about his save file and beats my ass
>>59001310Despite the levels climbing as you go, Lorelei is definitely the most dangerous gen 1 League trainer, and while there's more of an argument to be made to the contrary in FRLG, it still legit feels that way in those games too.
>>59006249Gengar having Levitate is so bullshit
>E4 is so difficult wtfI don't remember having any issue with ANY pokemon game barring colosseum as a kid. Those tide pods really did a fucking number on them huh
>>59006226deserved
>>59005646Challenges ARE fun, but I can see how challenged individuals that actually enjoy modern Pokemon would have an issue with having to use their brain or grind. EXP All rotted your brains.
>>58996363Same age. I got the DS lite for Christmas along with fire red.
>>59006254Gengar has 65 base Attack dude. Agatha's Gengars don't have any special attacks. If you're losing to Agatha's Gengar, you're losing to a Pokemon with the same damage output as Toxapex (65 vs 63). I don't care if it it's immune to Ground type attacks, you hit that fucker with anything neutral and it's going down.
>>59006226>>Dad hated Japs so initially grow up thinking all Japanese stuff is retardedbased dad
>>58996345>>58996566>>58997384When did this meme that Pokemon games are hard start?
>>59002110Definitely not. I grew up on FRLG and consider them the most boring Pokémon games I've played.
