I decided to hunt for shiny Articuno. I'm around 720 encounters deep so far and I'm already pretty bored. I have a turbo controller and the first move of my first Pokemon is out of PP, so when I set the controller to mash A it breezes through all the intro stuff and then gets stuck trying and failing to attack. This means I can devote less brain power to the hunt, which is nice.A very big downside to this hunt is that the shaded sprite that slides in always looks shiny to my eyes, which gives me a strong jolt of excitment that swiftly gets shot down when I see it's a normal Articuno.
I'm considering getting ZA for easy shinies and preparing for Champions. How does forced autosave not impact shiny hunting? How difficult is getting the shiny charm in ZA compared to Arceus? I pretty much gave up trying to finish the research tasks for every Pokemon in PLA.

I just gave up with Fire Red's shiny hunt, there's no tech there like PokeRadar or Shiny Charm so you're really just at the mercy of those 1/8192 odds which no sane person should ever pursue.Instead I decided to just Masuda some favorites on my SoulSilver cart except I don't have access to GTS so instead I'll improvise a dumb plan to avoid cheating as much as possible:>get MelonDS and a japanese SoulSilver rom with a save that's at least in Goldenrod City>catch a "legit" japanese Ditto there>back up my SoulSilver's cart save data on my 3DS with homebrew>take that save to my PC, get a USA SoulSilver rom>trade the japanese ditto from the japanese rom to the USA rom with my save>inject the save back in my cartIt's dumb but first, I'm not sure the Ditto with the hex data changed in PKSM is actually working and I prefer to play it safe this way.

Does anyone by chance have a shiny Maschiff on Legends ZA? I just lost my 800 hour file when the best buy employee messed up my data transfer. Upgraded to the switch 2 and lost it all. Started shiny hunting legends in ZA on a whim. Didnt think I'd event get any but already got shiny Virizion and Terrakion. So might as well get the rest too once I get those scans

>>59023873The legendaries in ZA are generally pretty easy to hunt (except Latios on Switch 1, which I’ll probably make a video about how to do effectively). There’s even a method to afk shiny hunt Terrakion which I wish I knew about before I got mine.
You just gotta pass the time with other stuff. Compared to the newer games Gen 3 hunting is a lot more passive and I actually feel like I can pay attention watching stuff while getting in encounters. So just gotta accept it's probably going to take awhile to happen and just get in the encounters while your thumbs aren't doing anything else.
