The worst game in the entire series. Only BDSP rivals it.
I still can't believe you can't battle wild Pokemon in this. Insane.
>>59010520Game so braindead it forces you to have a grass/water type for Brock so that they can make sure you know how to sweep him.
i hated swsh just as much, if not more.with the marketing of lgpe, they were very clear about it being an easy game for little babbies, to get them into the franchiseswsh was supposed to be THE mainline title for hardcore fans.
>>59010520it worked pretty well desu. saying that, i wouldn't exactly want it again
>>59010527SwSh definitely did worse for the direction of the series, and a lot of it was following from LGPE's direction (which was a surprise because people had initially thought LGPE was a spinoff, not one of their official mainline remakes). But if I had to do a replay of the series I'd still pick SwSh because there's at least unique content while LGPE is just a worse RBY and worse FRLG. SwSh is the worst new generation games for sure though.
I had written it off as a lazy cash grab, but some anons had said it was actually made with care, so I've been looking up some videos and yeah it does look pretty nice. Still think they should've had some original optional content for people who aren't dumb babies, but I get the game was made for casuals and Pokémon Go fans.
I'm surprised this was well liked on release. I skipped it initially but thought it would be a fun game to play with my nephew. We just got sick of all the weird roadblocks it added, requiring you to play the exact way it wanted you to, and decided to just play Sword together instead. The co-op battles felt like they were added as an afterthought anyways, there's absolutely no balance, you steamroll everything. Taking turns in Sword was literally superior.
>>59010567>I'm surprised this was well liked on releaseIt wasn't theres been a ton of revisionism about the game since then from KANTOOOOOOfags but it was hated at launch. Nowhere near as much as SWSH and SV but those games were generational fuck ups while this game was obnoxious more than anything
>>59010581I don't think sw/sh or s/v are great but they actually function as a single player Pokemon experience.Let's Go both poorly sets expectations of the series AND fails to deliver an experience that even scratches the same itch as playing the mainline games.
>>59010557looking nice is the only thing it has really. Even the riding Pokemon gets dumb after a few screens and you have to use those specific riding Pokemon if you want to go faster.
yup
>>59010514Worse than BDSP
>>59010557It's fun for what it is, a Kanto walking/catching simulator with a little bit of battling. I'd definitely a Johto version.
>>59011277which is trash. This "game" was full price. People's main issue with ZA was the price and ZA is a million times worth this online flash game tier slop.
>>59011283I got enough hours out of it to justify things. There's plenty of shit to do. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but it wasn't a buggy mess and was fun for me.
>>59010520Be honest, you don't battle wild pokemon outside of the first few routes. By the mid-game you are spamming repels or just running from all wild encounters.
>>59011277This was my expectations for the game and it's why I didn't enjoy it. I thought it would be a relaxed experience, but there's all these added checkpoints that require you to meet catching quotas and it ends up just making it less chill than playing the originals or FRLG, and makes it just feel like the Go simulator is the entire reason you're supposed to play.
>>59011309Nah I take every opportunity to get experience when going through an area
>>59011309It was essentially the only way to grind and try different Pokemon for your team in the original games, besides rematching the elite four.
>>59011341The only time I use repels is when I’m backtracking in a super early area where the EXP gain is ultimately trivial
>>59011309Unless you only used one team for all of r/b/y you essentially had to grind with wild battles.
>>59011290I'd take a buggy mess of new content over a walking sim of nothing tbqh.
>>59011318Yeah, battling every wild Pokemon as they appeared was the perfect level balance for me as long as I didn't backtrack too much. Catching wild Pokemon in LGPE just didn't feel nearly as satisfying or balanced, not knowing when to stop when they keep popping up, and chains of 40+ being encouraged in order to get EXP at a decent rate. And then you have to release all those bums, perhaps keeping some that happened to have a unique trait. It's all just a lot of unsatisfying busywork compared to the tried and true battling and defeating enemy encounters.
>>59010514It's one of the best Pokemon games despite its simplicity. That's just how bad most of the games are. Here's the key difference to most of the switch games - it's fun to play, at least for a while.
>>59011512The catching mechanic gets old after your first chain.
>>59011548I'm not trying to chain 40, it's clearly simplified for an even younger audience. I just played it for a while and enjoyed running around and having battles, which normally I hate running into every NPC along a route
>>59011512No it's trash. Every other Pokemon game is better and more fun to play for longer periods.
>>59010514BDSP was awesome other than the absolutely shit artstyle in the overworld. It fixed all the problems with DP and added some much needed QoL features.
>>59011570Nothing changed in that aspect. Every trainer you were originally forced to fight you still have to fight. In fact, later games had you capable of avoiding more trainers. Continuing to reveal you don't actually play the games, lgpissfag.
>>59011548Reminds me playing on the Nintendo Wii. It got boring after about five minutes.
>>59011603If only it had the platinum stuff too
>>59011603To some degree, I agree BDSP are overhated (for one, they're better remakes than FRLG), but there's no reason to play them when Platinum does the exact same thing considerably better. I get the impression that there must have been some corporate or creative meddling (eg. muh "faithful remake") that prevented the dev team from making something interesting.
>>59012824>I agree BDSP are overhated (for one, they're better remakes than FRLG)This is clearly bait
>>59013222I wish I was kidding, but no. Both are shot in the foot for trying to be too faithful to undercooked foundations. It's just that DP provide slightly better grounds for a remake than RB.For the record, I like the original RBY and do quite enjoy them. It's just that once you take away the unique gen 1 battle mechanics, there's not a whole lot going for them.
>>59011327>>59011356Which they clearly also thought sucked because the VS Seeker is significantly better in FRLG. Wild Battles sole purpose beyond the first encounter with a pokemon has only been shiny hunting since Gen 3. It's fair if you don't like the catching mechanics but complaining wild battles themselves were removed is stupid.
>>59013362FRLG is one of the best games in the series, and the Sevii Islands are so unique.
>>59013453The Sevii Islands are definitely the highlight of FRLG, but I don't think they're worth slogging through the rest of the game for. If anything, I wish they added more new content like it to the main game.I'd credit them for setting the series standard of giving you things to do after becoming champion, but GSC had Kanto.
>>59013453Wish you could evolve Gen 2 Pokemon earlier and not be missing several Gen 3 held items as well as being unable to evolve Espeon and Umbreon but on its own it's certainly a very enjoyable package, much more than LGPE. And its modernized mechanics much more fluid than BDSP though BDSP does have more content than FRLG due to DP having more.
radical red is the best kanto experience
>>59011603How about the forced Pokemon Amie buffs?
>>59014773this
>>59011271I can see that.
>>59015205nah
>>59015277really?
>>59015444Nah
>>59016725Lol
>>59014753based
BDSP is over-hated, they are solid remakes of solid games with improved graphics and QOL
>>59018098Other than basic QOL like faster animations, something that could be achieved in an emulator, only thing it has are the postgame rematches. Everything else is 1:1 or also watered down like the contests. The new underground sucks.
>>59017296This
>>59010514well if you want to count side games then that would be pokemon masters for character gachaing up the franchise to a disgusting extent
>>59018813Oh if including side games there are way more to count lol. Even Go itself.
>>59018751
Can you still buy it lol
Lol
>>59021081Hopefully not
the great debate
>>59010514It should have just been a POV remake of Yellow.
>>59021742The left is the real general consensus. The right is a known psychotic gimmick schizo who’s only obsessed with Eevee, not even realizing the game he’s shilling doesn’t have half of the eeveelutions.
Hmm
