I fucking hate this mechanic like you wouldn't believe>25% chance of not fainting>20% chance of recovering from status effects>Increased chance of dealing critical hits
>>59022322>>20% chance of recovering from status effectsFucks over guts & poison heal strats in playthroughs too.
>>59022322BDSM was the first game I used herb medicines over normal heal items
>>59022322Then use the herbal medicine, it's been there since gen 3. It's not anyone else's fault you don't know about 20+ year old gameplay mechanics.
>>59022392>Yeah bro just spend all your fucking money on herbs and waste an hour forcefeeding them to your team at least a few times per playthrough that totally solves the issue
That's why I played modded versions of LGPE and BDSP.
Them mixing friendship and affection together means that if you decide to use herbs you better not want a crobat or umbreon lol
>>59022322Agreed. Anybody who defends this shit is giga retarded.Same for the removal of infinite TMs.
>>59022395>waste an hourJust use it instead of potions or Pokemon centersIm playing through it right now and my Bidoof "dislikes me" according to the girl at the Pokemon fan club house
>>59022322just use bitter herbs dumbass
>>59022395>Yeah bro just spend all your fucking money on herbsEnergy Root is as good as a Hyper Potion and costs significantly less. Same for Full Heal.Revival Herb is the only buyable Max Revive.I hate the forced friendship and affection merge without a cap here, but at least you have ways of fighting it.
>>59022654In LGPE you are fucked as soon as you take a Pokemon out of the ball to walk which is so screwed upNow that I think about it both are Masuda games arent they? SwSh and SV aren't like that so it was his call
>>59022935Yes, Masuda stated he makes the games easy because kids are too busy on their smartphones.
>>59023015he said this 15 years ago u gotta let it go
whats the point in trying to nerf her so much
>>59022392>>59022380>>59022541>>59022654What if I don't want to use healing items
>>59022392>Yeah bro just betray the core principle of pokemon by making your mons hate you
>removed grinding with the game-breaking exp share and wild mons match your level more closely now>removed needing to evolve non-level up evos since you can just find them in the wild now>removed any challenge against npcs with broken friendship mechanics, lower level gaps, nerfed crits, constant out-of-battle heals, and no forced battles >removed all sense of adventure and discovery because the story is just the same recycled "you are chosen by the legendary to save da world with your fwends!!!" plot>removed villains who are actually just evil for the sake of being evil because "we can't go teaching kids to hate people for their views, they're just le misunderstood outcasts!!! btw blm and drumpf le bad!!!"Genuinely, what's the point in playing modern Pokémon?
>>59023650Oh and I forgot to mention how money and resource management is basically worthless now because you get millions of it just by walking around and they never bothered to update the cost balance apart from nerfing healing items which just means you use them three times instead of twice to get fully healed. Infinite TMs are retarded too, that's the one thing Scat/Vomit did right. And don't even get me started on the mobile PC which should 100% be a post-game item.
>>59023617>core principleIf you played the games in the past several years you'd know happiness does jack shit. Happiness evos don't apply to 99% of Pokemon and Return doesn't exist anymore. That's why they added this affection bullshit nobody asked for.
>>59023650>btw blm and drumpf le bad!!most based gamefreak/thepokemoncompany has ever been
>>59022396>moddedwhere
>>59023650Now generalise that across all modern vidya gaems. Corporate bullshit peaked sometime 5-10 years ago, we are going through the hard decline stage where every power and institution goes senile and gives in to clueless maximising of market metrics like engagement or whatever at the cost of anything anyone really wants. What's happened to PKMN is that it's not being made for people anymore, it's being made to satisfy some ghoulish idealistic system of what a "good release cycle" entails.
I don't understand how people have a hard time making pokemon challenging. Just don't over level, the difficulty slider is right in your face.
>>59022322The mechanic is fine and should be in all games. They should also take out the herbal medicine as well or make it increase friendship instead to prevent you guys from trying to get around it
I get why they did it to make the pokemon feel real and personal to you BUT it makes the game too easy. In SWSH the amounts of time I should have fainted and was saved by 1% HP or a massive crit was a ton. Toward the end of the game the game basically is saving you it’s so cheap feeling.
>>59024074If you're genuinely good at a game, it's difficult not to overlevel. I'm a Paper Mario fan and this is my issue much of the time with replaying these titles>avoid easy filler battles>wipe the floor with mandatory encounters>receive massive overdose in EXP/equivalent>level up a bunch>next level challenges are guaranteed to be easy again because of thisIt's impossible to avoid, outside of the most contrived and unpleasant playstyles possible.Furthermore:>never use items>end up with a massive inventory full of powerful items you never use>sell them until you have G you cannot spend>96% + of the game's economy is meaningless to youBetween that and avoiding ordinary and optional encounters, you have to ask yourself if you're really playing the game at all if you're cutting most of it out or torturing the rudiments of it just to get a modicum of challenge. You have to accept that you have either mastered this game and move on to another, or that the entire exercise was ideal for your younger self and similarly young people today, you are now overgrown and should take on the mature stance of surpassing it rather than dwelling in childish idleness. Or you can demand the devs make the game *harder*, rather than easier. This is physically doable, but in practice the mainstream will alwayds go the oppostie direction because that creates and retains a bigger audience. The only solution the market has created is fan-made and indie pseudo-variants of the game with more bite to the mechanics, which generally do well but have their issues.
>>59023650>he grinds in pokemon>he thinks there was ever a challenge in pokemonDidn't read the rest cause my sides hurt too bad
>>59024134I played through Shining Pearl similar to how you mentioned - no grinding, mandatory trainers only with a couple optionals on accident. I mainly used Kazza, which gets a trade exp boost, along with 2 other Pokemon and wound up critically underleveled in the lategame. I also had to use Palkia for the E4 and use items strategically to make up for the missing levels.
>>59024134Except you can 100% avoid overleveling in pokemon because you can just pick up a new team to train. Like, fuck, I had this issue solved when I was six because I tried to balance training every pokemon I caught
>>59024323>dude just stop using those pokemon you likelmao
>>59024323It's already easy enough not to overlevel, stop battling the optional trainers and use more Pokemon. I would be surprised if all the retards here were conditioned by some faggot 15 years ago to play it the same way.
>>59022392Or they could made affection optional like in gen 6/7
>>59024473>I would*I wouldn't
>>59023322No
>>59023384She was not that's hard
>>59023691Cuck
I find funny how even with forced Amie Cynthia was still filtering the fuck out of people.
>>59022380It's not even enough half the time. Each herbal medicine only reduces a few points. I ended up sitting in front of poison or fire types waiting to get burned, then just spamming energy powder turn after turn, or rematching some of the stronger trainers and letting stuff faint and alternate revival herbs. 10/10 game design
Why in the fuck are you playing vanilla BDSP? Even for a Pokemon game, they are ass. Play:https://luminescent.team/
