could have been decidueye if they correctly predicted it would be more popular than incineroar but since they goofed and let it slide we don't have a great fit right now. Meowscarada is kind close but not there. Sceptile is pretty solid popularity-wise but not enough to take the cigar. And I doubt Browt is going to do a better job with it becoming a fat bastard instead of a coolmon. Wait for gen 11 or gen 12, we'll probably get a grass starter built from the ground up to be the new face in one of those gens.

It's clearly Decidueye. The only fully evolved Alola starter to have a regional form, it appeared in the Scarlet and Violet DLC before the other two, and is also in Unite, Pokken, Friends, and Pokopia. Furthermore, if Browt evolves into anything that doesn't resemble any other bird starter, they'll start comparing it to Decidueye (in an inferior way).

Meowscarada, if it had been created 2-3 generations earlier, would have had a chance.
