Do you think the various battle gimmicks will be rebalanced around each other in Champions?
Take Gen 7 and Gen 8's gimmicks for example. The former gives you one powerful move in the form of Z-Moves, while the latter turns all your moves into max moves, which basically amount to Z-moves in terms of power, for several turns in a row.
If you were in charge of balancing all the gimmicks with each other, what would you do?

>balanced around each other
Anyone who isn’t a neanderthal will realize that you will either only be able to use one of the gimmicks, all of them, or some of them depending on the battle rules so why are you asking this question?
>>
>>59033070
It’s a legitimate question. Very well could be the case in some way multiple could be used
>>
>>59033116
If multiple are used then there aren’t any balance issues because one isn’t competing with the other since all can be used at once.
>>
None of the gimmicks conflict with each other mechanically, and ranked rulesets that allow all of them at once won't be common enough to warrant balancing around it. The only one I can see them adjusting in general is dynamax because it's so ridiculous.
>>
>>59032981
I think Dynamax needs to be rebalanced in general. Some megas too, but that's a case by case basis.
>>
Megas and Z-Moves each take up an item slot. With Dynamax available, choosing to not bring a Mega Stone or Z-Crystal sounds a lot more reasonable than it did in gen 7.
>>
>>59032981
Implying they will not keep megas as the only competitive mechanic for 2 years. Then it will be majin for other 2 years.

See you in 2030 when they MAY add Dinamax after Legends Galar and while waiting for Gen 11.

Stop this "anyone can clearly see" shit. This is how we got "it's obvious that PLZA is going to take place in the past, there's historical precedent for the reconstruction of Paris" people who were deadset they were right when actual proof was in front of their faces from the reveal trailer of that game.
>>
>>59033234
Do you really think they’re going to change mechanics? No they will just restrict or limit them. Anyone with average intelligence can see this.
>>
>>59033246
>Anyone with average intelligence can see this
It's not set in stone and I could absolutely see them decreasing the health a Dynamax Pokemon can have, buffing the attacking Z-moves slightly and changing some of their effects (ex: Splash, Celebration, Conversion) and potentially even introducing a turn limit for megas since there are limits in PLZA (but that could just be a gameplay > lore change).
If anything else they need to know that singles with Dynamax Pokemon was nearly unplayable in their official format.
>>
>>59033070
If all the gimmicks are allowed, you have to choose one to use. Would you ever choose a Z-Move over a Dynamax?
Not really. So you buff Z-Moves a bit, nerf Dynamax a bit, and try to make it more of a choice.
Yeah they'll have rulesets which ban gimmicks or only allow 1 type of gimmick. But if there's rulesets that allow for more than one gimmick, you'd hope they might rebalance the gimmicks so that deciding to go with one isn't an explicitly inferior decision to going with another.
>>
>>59033358
Easier solution: Dont allow both on same regulation
Other solution: If both are allowed, use Dynamax
Third solution: Use Z-move, show them you're the Boss.
>>
>>59033358
>But if there's rulesets that allow for more than one gimmick
We know there's going to be, the announcement trailer had a mega fighting a tera.
>>
>>59032981
I think they're going to lift the "one mega per game" mechanic. Maybe completely remove or increase to 2 or 3. We have an entire regional dex worth of megas and all of them are fully-evolved so keeping a balance decision from 2013 where we had around 25 megas is kinda eeh. Though it would lead to sun teams using Zard Y and still having another mega on the back which would be very disgusting to see so they might keep to 1 to avoid these edge cases. Mega limit doesn't exist in Z-A with the strongest trainers using more than one which wouldn't be feasible outside that game.

Most retarded comment award goes to...

Hopefully they get rid of the phys/special split so Gen 1-3 players won’t feel alienated
