>great attack
>great movepool
>great speed tier with an ability that doubles its already great speed
What the hell is Barraskewda missing?
>>
>>59039771
Powecreep is just that broken
Also it’s hilarious how minmaxed galar mons are but the dex is so hideous no one gives a shit about any of them
>>
>>59039771
Unfortunately for Barraskewda everyone is too tanky for someone like him to make a difference
A sucker punch might legit just kill him
>>
>>59039771
Doesn’t hit hard enough to make up for its fragility
>>
>>59039771
>great movepool
The movepool is pretty middling. No strong boosting move and its non-rain ability sucks for singles. Its a glass cannon that can’t break past things.
>>
why spend two full team slots to make a weather setter for barraskewda when you can just click fischious rend
>>
>>59039786
You'd think the dexcut would've helped mitigate powercreep somewhat, but they just keep bringing back old legendaries and come up with new, even brokener ones as a selling point for DLC and shit. Hell, sometimes they're not even legendaries, it feels like every new mon they add has some gimmick that either does nothing for it or just gets rid of all its weaknesses and halves the opponents defenses when calculating damage and does your taxes for you
>>
>>59039771
Wave Crash, that's it

Please, do put Floatzel out of a job
>>
>>59039771
Barraskeda is good, on Rain teams.
Problem is that Sun teams are now the most dominant weather in the current Meta thanks to the Paradox Pokemon. This diversifies Sun teams since they have a wider range of Pokemon to abuse Sun, even having a Water type that has a Water move that treats Sun like Rain and Rain like Rain.

With Liquidation being your highest damaging move by far it's not doing anything more than spamming Flip Turn/Aqua Jet all day

And FUCK Liquidation, being a physical Watermon is suffering enough just having to slap a wet noodle around because GF is scared that Rainfags will takeover.

Great mon tho

I feel like they're designing Pokemon now where they want the competitive battles of each generation to center around the new pokemon and so they sorta overtune them so that you're playing a new game with only them, rather than trying to design new pokemon to seamlessly integrate into the existing collection.

Feels like a ton of new pokemon need their signature abilities massively nerfed, and their movepools cut drastically before a discussion can even begin on correcting powercreep (not a goal of the developers).

I wish that Champions existing might mean the games will focus less on being a VGC hub and change their design philosophy, but I have my doubts.

Probably fails to secure important KOs despite the constant outspeeding, the classic Sceptile problem

This guy was a monster when dynamax was legal if I remember right

Yeah, they definitely want the new metagames to be centered around the new Pokémon. It's a bit of a shame, Pokémon from earlier generations being top-tier is a fixture of competitive singles (see: Snorlax in Gen 2 and Tyranitar in Gen 3). I feel like this was the case as recently as Gens 6 & 7, where Excadrill and Landorus-T are top tier.
>>
>>59039771
Utterly outclassed by Ogerpon-W.
>>
>>59040406
My problem is basically always just that the top tiers are the most weirdly fucked shit.
If your a Pokemon and your name includes "forme" I don't want to use you or see you being used. Ultra beasts and Paradox pokemon give me a similar level of unsatisfactory. I know its PURE autism but whenever I feel like I have to fight using / against these sorts of pokemon all the romance is just drained from the act of battling.

This thing was a sweeper with dynamax
One Max Geyser to set the rain, two Max Knuckle to boost attack and gg

>61 hp, 60 def, 50 sp. def
The issue is priority moves existing unfortunately. Which doesn’t make him unusable, but it does limit how good he is at his role and make him worse than other options that fulfill a similar function
>>
>>59040137
Nah it never got close to top 8 back when dynamax existed. It’s just kinda shit
>>
>>59039771
It had some early success in both smogon and vgc iirc

One of my favorite observations over the life of SWSH was how people in favor of the dex cut were thankful for it in regards to meta changes, specifically the fact that Landorus would be absent, just for it to saunter back in when the DLC rolled out. Truly incredible stuff.

>>59039771
Not great attack, at least not "great" enough to justify its nonexistent bulk. It's not oneshotting anything a stronger hitter with an 80 BP stab isn't already oneshotting, and monowater isn't that solid a typing.
>>
>>59040782
Landorus is even as prevalent as it was in the past. Incineroar has been the really menace over the past 7 years.
>>
>>59040826
120+ attack is great but you have to have a reliable STAB option with more than 100BP which as you stated it does not
>>
>>59039911
Waterpon single handedly makes the entire Rain archetype unviable
>>
Probably a monster for in-game playthroughs though.

>>59039863
It’s almost as if Dexit was never about balance and it done to punished people for not having the correct pokemon their favorite and as an excuse for game freak to be even lazier
>>
It everywhere back when I was playing SV OU two years ago. I used a Chesto Berry Tyranitar to shut down rain teams. Archaludon was also a rain staple.
>>
>>59039771
>What the hell is Barraskewda missing?
nothing, the meta pajeets fear the favorite picks, go and crush meta teams, king
>>
Everything that Game Freak intentionally fucked over for the sake of doing so.
>>
>>59039771
C+ rank for OU is already good. The "problem" is that it only really works wonderfully on one archetype, Rain, but that archetype faces a lot of challenges like Sun and Ogerpon Wellspring. Rain would need to be much more popular as a whole for it to make the usage requirement of 3.5%. I'm pretty sure Drizzle is banned from UU and below, and it really really needs Drizzle on a teamate to be viable. Unless you're Deoxys Speed, having a good base speed without an ability to escape the scarfers (base 75 with scarf outspeeds) isn't that great when you also fold to a single neutral stab hit. No Wave Crash means that it really needs an attack boosting item like band or life orb instead of a choice scarf of your own.

I ran a Barraskewda in my Sword run, and the poor thing just could never net kills. Always fell short of the OHKO. I would trade its attack and speed stats for a little more oomph, and maybe a better ability than Swift Swim.

and give it Fishious Rend like it fucking deserves.
