This meme that Cynthia is the hardest boss fight in the series ever was started by zoomies who had DP as babby’s first Pokémon game. You could even argue that Gen 2 Red was harder because he used weather combos and had tanky mons with recovery moves in games pre-Special split and before there were lots of setup moves like Dragon Dance and Calm Mind for the player to abuse.
