HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS THAT MOTHERFUCKIN' TYRANTRUM??!?other fossil and fossil-adjacent mons welcome too :3
>>59053479>Took 6 goddamn generations to make a t.rex fossil>Instantly becomes the most popular fossil, a highlight of its dex, amd never loses this throne>Could have done this any time beforeGame freak really isn't too bright, is it? Don't get me wrong, I love Anorith and other less popular extinct critters getting attention, but come on.
There’s nothing dragon about her. Cool mon and design but a dragon it is notFuck you
I did not intend to show this to y'all but here's a rough edit of what the girls could look like they the didn't have the king's beard
>>59053479I like him
>>59053523It's because the word for dinosaur in Japanese is "Kyoryu" which literally means "Scary Dragon". Hence why several Dino-mons get the dragon typing. See also the Stegosaurus half of the Galarian fossils giving dragon-type, Baxcalibur being a Spinosaurus, and the Paradox Tower Trio being a Ceratopsian, Sauropod, and Dromeosaur.
>>59053523Dragons are top of the food chain. Trex is top dog. What's hard about this to understand. It literally resembles a dragon in every way physically and lore-wise except for the lack of wings. Get a fucking imagination bro
>>59053479I love Tyrantrum, but I hate the white borders running along its underbelly. They bother me more and more every time I see them.
I feel like the amount of people who know that Tytantrum is based on King Louis "The Sun King" is rather low (the ancient Kalos king is also based on the same person btw. that's why the palace has sun pokemon shaped hedges and also Lysandre is very very very obviously related to the ancient king and he has fiery hair)
>>59053649They're the fluffy white coat parts that a cartoon king would wear
>>59053552Still looks good
My only non-mega in my ZA team
>>59054442If I ever do another play through I’m definitely using an Alpha. Tfw I’m so autistic I’m writing a fanfic and the MC has an Alpha Tyrunt that’ll evolve so I can have small scale kaiju fights.
>>59053523Tyrantrum is a tyrant king. The Japanese have a long history of calling the emperor or other social elites or people of great skill/prestige "dragons". (The move Outrage is Imperial Rage in Japanese) Calling someone a dragon is essentially a shorthand for saying they're the apex, the ultimate. It's clearly fitting of a T-rex, especially when you factor in the more cynical European view of dragons hoarding wealth and being greedy menaces which is also what Tyrantrum does.
can't... quite... reach...!
>>59053491Dont get fooled, it took massive restraint from the team to hold back on making Tyrantrum not look retarded, just look at all their starters since gen5, the king theme is light enough but they could have given him a pot belly and a dumb looking cape and a silly looking scepter and an actual tiny crown.
>>59053523>herTyrantrum is a king daddy always!!!!!!!!!
>>59055379
>>59053479I actually like Tyrunt more. Something about his stance is just more appealing.Do still love Tyrantrum though, I just wish he didn't feel like such a jobber every time I tried running him on an in game team.
>>59054169>That's why it evolves under sunlightI didn't catch that, very cool.
>>59053523Not everything has to be a damn dragon type, fagwad
>>59053523As someone has stated, in asian countries dinosaurs are just referred to as dragons.Chinese names of dinosaurs all translate to shit like "Violence Dragon" and "Triangle Dragon" and what not, in media like One Piece all the devil fruits that turn you into Dinosaurs are "Ryu Ryu no mi" with Ryu meaning Dragon. The japanese word for Dinosaur is basically Fear Dragon, etc. etc.If anything its moreso restraint on their part that they didnt make every other dinosaur fossil part dragon as well.
>>59058048>I just wish he didn't feel like such a jobber every time I tried running him on an in game team. That's because Game Freak goes out of its way to intentionally fuck over fossil Pokemon. It's very shitty that this happens.
>>59060775makes me think of glavenus
>>59053552I like it!>>59056674Heh heh the T-Rex paradox>>59062153Yeah I see it.
>>59053552I'm retarded, because I never ever realised it was supposed to even look like a beard. I thought it was exposed jawbone or weird horns or something.
>>59053523Lol it's a giant lizard with huge teeth that's obviously a dragon
I hope I get the Tyrantrum themed deck when I go to the Perfect Order prerelease in a few days!
>fossil-adjacentDoes that include all dinosaurs?
>>59053491They knew it would be popular but they also knew it was a shitty design so they waited until they ran out of ideas. Whenever people talk about Pokemon that don't look like Pokemon they always forget Tyrantrum, which is just a cartoony dinosaur that belongs in Fossil Fighter not Pokemon. It reminds me of the stories of the American market trying to decide how to make Pokemon designs appeal to western audiences. Tyrantrum is one of the most western appealing designs and nothing about it says "Pokemon".
what extinct animals are y'all hoping get turned into fossils?
>>59053599Tyrantrum's drinking milk from Aurorus' crotchboobs 5 minutes later.
>>59062879>American market trying to decide how to make Pokemon designs appeal to western audiencesPikachu being an anthropomorphic tiger with boobs.
I wish Aerodactyl was Dragon. Fucking Lance has one
>>59053479>We have gone two gens without proper fossilsI do not acknowledge the Galar fossils, regardless of what they are nodding to. I fucking love fossil pokemon though and hope we get some new ones in WiWa
I want a Rock Type biting move called Stalagbite/Stalactbite, maybe with some fun secondary effect. Obviously for Tyrantrum's Strong Jaw, but a lot of Rock Types and non-Rock Types would appreciate this move very much.
>>59064209>75 base power, 100 accuracy >1 turn trap effectSeems neet. The single turn of trap is strong, but requires commitment to the bit. The base power is low to compensate, but Tyrantrum has an incredible move that means it actually bites instead of headbutting like a retard
>>59053591>Dragons are top of the food chain. Sylveon used draining kiss

Love me fossilmon
>>59053523dragon as a type is completely arbitrary. it is given to and withheld from pokemon on a whim
I just wish it was better competitively. Rock/Dragon isn't exactly a top tier type, but surely they could've done better when it came to stats and abilities. Seen Pokemon with less BST be OU staples, or even banned....... Give it Supreme Overlord and Accelrock.
>>59055441Leaked Tyrantrum concept design?
>>59065195Dragon types being naturally given a lot of coverage puts Tyrantrum in the perfect spot to justifiably be the swiss army knife of recoil users. He could easily get flare blitz, wave crash, wood hammer, wild charge, and brave bird since he's closely related to birds. That plus more speed so he isn't too fast for trick room but too slow for everything else and he would be golden
I wonder if WW will introduce any new fossilmons
>>59065646Aren't there new fossilmons in every gen? I stopped at gen 6.
>>59066429Johto, Alola, and Paldea introduced no fossilmons
>>59065325>fossil pokemon being allowed to have anything nice>this also applies aurorus not being subjected to shitty humiliation rituals anymoreThe Epstein Files are more likely to be leaked in full and completely uncensored for the world to see than for Game Freak to stop treating fossil Pokemon like shit.
Hello /vp/.
>>59065646they tend to do fossils every second gen so likely
>>59066761>No fossils in Alola>Finally get Fossils again in Galar but they're this awful bullshit that doesn't count (no rock type, doesn't count, literally not a real pokemon and instead a chimera, doesn't count)>No fossils in PaldeaI have a terrible feeling we're not going to see fossils in SEA region either, at which point it really feels like the category is dead.
>>59053552There's a lot of mons that should get this treatment. Clearly designed as a distinctive male with a beard or a female with a petite body and other cute features (big eyes, skirt)
WW fossilmon better be a spinorock/electric, rock/ghost, or fuck it, rock/normal for the lels
>>59067848They're going to intentionally fuck up the stats and give Shartyniggers more talking points.
>>59067864WHAT DINO/ANCIENT LIFE DO YOU WANT THE MOST AS A FOSSILMON NEXT /VP/?I want a Rock/Normal Parasaurolophus (Ducky from Land Before Time) based on recent research that discovered the purpose of big horn was actually a resonance chamber for sound waves. They reconstructed what the real dino would have sounded like both with computers and with physical models, and it's fucking kickasshttps://youtu.be/rlKa7i_59As?si=qalnQOdHvppUyDviNow it doesn't have to be Normal just cuz of the sound wave thing, it could be Rock/Electric or something cooler. But I feel like this is the best idea for a Rock/Normal fossilmon we're ever gonna have.
They could introduce 10 new fossil Pokemon family lines this gen, and it still wouldn't be nearly enough
>>59062850If it doesn't get a new form or evolution this gen, it never will. I'm shocked it didn't gen one in gen 7
>>59065272Hilariously on point, but this is exactly what i mean.KRool is cool, but in a dumb fat croc way that would have ruined a proper Trex design.
>>59057556Rock/Water
After watching Primal, I want a Tyrantrum named Fang
>>59066941They basically ditched subtle gender differences entirely after gen 4. As focus moved away from making an immersive world with small details like that. I can't imagine they'll ever bother to retcon more differences in in the future, especially with the modern political climate on such issues.
>>59067848They'd probably consider bax too similar to a spinosaurus (even if concavenator is a carcharodontosaurian, not a spinosaur), while I kinda doubt we'll see proper fossils again, the dinosaur types we're notably missing are a:>Dromaeosaur>Hadrosaur >Thyreophorans in general>Therizinosaur (alternatively, an ornithomimosaur like Deinocheirus).>Azhdarchid (not a dinosaur, but close enough). While this has never ever mattered for any fossil mons ever, if we were to try to theme them to the locality it would probably make the most sense to pull from Mongolia or Chinese fossil finds.
>>59072815I want a stegosaur
>>59073102Stegosaurs are included in Thyreophora (which is Stegosaurs and Ankylosaurs), the entire group being missing is pretty sad. I'd really rather not count whatever the fuck is going on with the Galar fossils as being anything. Its not like we'll ever get official fossils of the "whole" forms because being shit on purpose is the entire gimmick I guess.
>>59075149Kabutops and Omastar should get a cross-gen evos
>>59066761I hope they retcon it so you can make them all look like they should have looked in the first place. It feels like we lost out on 4 fossil Pokemon for the sake of a gimmick. I do applaud them for trying something new, but I don't think the execution was done that well.
>>59076732I think my issue is that it feels obvious that even if you combined them into whatever proper full animals the 4 are supposed to represent, they wouldn't have that rock type vibe. I guess you could add that into the design though of course rock/water, rock/dragon, and rock/ice are already pretty well covered in fossil pokemon, even if a super fast rock/electric would be kinda novel.I'd love to see them combined into their proper forms but its never going to happen. They're doomed to be genetic freaks forever.
WHY IS THERE STILL NO STEGOSAURUS OR TRICERATOPS FOSSILMON>bastiodonNO, SUCK MY COCK
>>59077476Aggron as normal mon >:(Aggron if from fossil :DDD
>>59077499I'll accept Aggron actually good point, but I still want a proper one that's quadruped and a fossilHonestly now you're making me wish Aggron WAS a fossil in Gen III, it'd be pretty rad just cuz it psychologically would feel more special that way
>>59068516I like this version that mixes wind instruments (ocarina and flute) with the sound structures of hadrosaurs
>>59077625
>>59077625>>59077636I'm fond of this one. I'd accept that if it was official. Dunno why it's Fairy, but it admittedly looks good in pink. Maybe it's just cuz Ducky was a girl, lol
>>59077636I like this. Now give it Pixilate and Boomburst.
>>59077534Wanting LITERALLY the animal but Pokemon is a dangerous game. Pokemon don't generally work like that outside of like, Seel or something, and always need some sort of exaggerated fantastical feature, which becomes hard the more specific you need to stay to the source material.Triceratops is covered by both Aggron and Bastiodon, Bastiodon quite literally since it lived at the same time and place as Rampardos, much like Triceratops and Pachycephalosaurus. Wanting to get too literal gets us Palafin.Stegosaurus is a mystery though, both Stegosaurs and the related Ankylosaurs are basically missing entirely, going even further, there's almost no Pokemon at all that use their tail as a weapon, there's Mega Sceptile I guess but its an archetype thats basically unused. Makes me wonder if its a design issue, trying to put the focus on something that isnt the front / head is hard.
>>59077625>>59077636Leddit on its way with the dead and unoriginal Iron Head memes.
>>59053479I know GF isn't aiming for scientific accuracy, but we have some good options for G10 fossilmons
>>59053479
>>59077476Bastiodon is more based on the Chasmosaurus
>>59077625>>59077636Perfect
>>59079144Alpha Aurorus & Tyrantrum if Legends ZA didn't recycle their normal sizes as alphas.
>>59079194Are you saying they shrunk them by accident and didn't fix it later?
>>59079508Looking into it, anon is right that the Alphas are closer to normal size (albeit Tyrantrum looks like its approaching 10 feet rather than 8, the non-alpha seems closer to 5 feet). This probably has more to do with how all pokemon in PLZA are averaged out in scale a bit (much like they are in XY, SM, SwSh, etc.) in order to properly fit into the environment to facilitate real time battles and battles that take place in the world rather than a separate loading zone reality arena. Tyrantrum got shrunk down by this, and then the Alpha just happens to end up more similar to his actual size.
one of the gen 10 fossils should be relicanth but he has a new evolution the other should be an Entelodontidae that looks like it would evolve (like actually evolve not pokemon evolve) into emboar like how kabotops looks like it would later evolve into scyther
>>59080024>Tyrantrum got shrunk down by this, and then the Alpha just happens to end up more similar to his actual size. All the larger Pokemon were shrunk down with their alpha sizes being their otherwise normal sizes while smaller Pokemon get to have actual alpha sizes. It's bullshit and unjust.
>>59079144>implying anyone on this board is old enough to get the movie reference
>>59082894Not all the genwunner stuff is bait. Some of us genuinely believe it. I also believe in sharptooth supremacy.
>>59077534Aggron would have been great to give a Scarlet Paradox form to.
>>59053479>The gen 6 fossils didn't get megas in ZA despite being one of the more iconic kalos pokemon
Aurorus is fat woman coded
>>59058399Man I'm looking forward to this and the Aerodactyl kits so much.
>>59084005Kanto zealotry and its consequences has been a disaster for Pokemon outside of gen 1.It's not like Pikachu is going to commit suicide if they had mega evolutions as rightfully deserved or anything.
>>59077534It would make the rock type forgivable because that's just par for the course rather than malicious sabotage
>>59077625>>59077636Those mouths are perfect for my penis
>>59084005They would have been shit anyways.
>>59066761I enjoyed how brokenly powerful this guy was/is.
I would like an ankylosaurus monWould he just be another rock/ground/steel fossil? ProbablyBut fuck you I want one
>>59086051How powerful are we talking here? Like KOing stuff that resist Dracovish?
Thanks for keeping this alive guys, fossilmons usually don't get as much love and attention as they deserve
>>59086077They'd surely mix it up (this goes for any potential future fossils in general) like they did by making an Ice Amargasaurus.I can't really imagine how but I guess it depends on how much you're willing to break away from the base concept. Obviously steel (for the armor, tail, and depending on the genus of ankylosaur, shoulder spikes), pure rock (same reasoning) or ground (Ankylosaurs are often believed to have displayed digging behavior). But they could do something like Fighting to emphasize the idea of battling with its tail, or maybe put poison spikes on it and make it poison, I'm sure theres ways you could justify a fire or psychic type too.
>>59087188I'm going to assume you skipped gen 8.Fishious Rend is what made it broken, a move with 85 power that doubled to 170 if Dracovish attacked first. The move is also boosted by the ability Strong Jaw, which Dracovish has. Then factor in STAB.With just those factors, the move is now over 380 attack power. Now factor in rain or a choice band and Dracovish trivializes any battle unless the opponent has an ability that negates water damage. It was fun watching it eat Leon's entire team.
>>59087662Was asking in a "how much do defensive stuff that type resists Fishious Rend (i.e. Ferrothorn) get fucked by it" kind of way.
>>59091682
>>59088996It's so stupidly overpowered that it can usually 2 hit KO Ferrothorn or even one hit KO it if rain is up.
>>59080079Call it relitank and make it a submarine / Leedsichthys mix
>>59068516Just give me an Utahraptor fossilmon.
Are paradox mons valid for a dinosaur team or only fossils in your opinion?

I love these beauties, my favourite fossilmons
>>59063367The MegSharpedo is neat but I want a bigger sharkmon.
>>59085970cute!
>>59087662I never understood why people talk about Fishious Rend that way. People act like "doubles in power" isn't an extremely common multiplier in damage calcs. The gimmick is basically just "the move is super-effective on slower pokemon", and they gave it to a mon with 75 base speed.
god, imagine if the spino fossilmon we get is spinofaarus
This Raptor here. Its everything I want for a raptor pokemon>ParadoxStill a dino

>>59117328>Dragon / Steel type with a Fire version of Steelworker
>>59117328We'll get a second Mega Gardevoir instead
>>59117328Seeing as to how Game Freak isn't afraid to create cracked mega evolutions (like Mega Meganium) then GF should do the same for Mega Tyrantrum and Mega Aurorus.they won't
>>59117323cool art
>>59066761If I was Game Freak I'd retcon the Galar fossils into their true appearances and turn the crimea into forms. Fuck them for robbing us a Stegosaur and Raptor.
I need some good nickname ideas for Armaldo and Cradily, fossilfriends
Does Indonesia have any fossils that were found there? I know that Alola didn't have any because Hawaii was formed after the extinction of the dinosaurs.
Me on the right.
