I just went to every single pokemon in every zone, checked the pokedex to see what flavors they liked and gave them the respective food based on this and got to level 10 in every single zone. Most of them are living in trenches, and the wasteland that I barely put any effort in jumped from level 6 to 10 after feeding everyone. Definitely do this if you're lazy, there's a lot of good shit in the shop if you're level 10 with every place

In the field you start out the game in since you start off with mostly outdoors stuff like campfires and since it's all a bunch of kiddy pokemon you put there it ended up feeling like a kid's summer camp, but that's a really cozy vibe so I ended up rolling with it. Currently have a playground, a picnic area, a backyard roller coaster, a cozy little field, a stage for jigglypuff, and plans for 3 log cabins and a shower area.
My original grand plans for this area was to do a floating island house, but then I found out there's a whole high altitude area so I'll do that there instead.
My current plans are
>Wasteland - live in largest log cabin on top of the mountain
>Beach - Was thinking maybe an underwater base or a boat but will probably just do a modern beachhouse
>Volcano - Restore that big industrial complex on the map and fill it with cool dude pokemon and make myself a cool secret lair on top

Alola feels like a good shot, four story areas (the main islands) and an easy sandbox area (Aether Foundation), they could either further develop the Pokopia disaster or lean into the idea that you've intervening in an Alola that's starting from Ultra Beast influence, and now have to figure out how to strike a balance between the interdimensional settlers and the natives.
Realistically though, they'd make a Pokopia for Hoenn or Unova (Johto isn't allowed to be touched on ever, GameFreak would rather die than throw West Kanto a bone).

It doesn't have to be exactly the same plot as the first one, even if they keep a Ditto protagonist. For instance, they could do a Legends Arceus kind-of thing and have it take place in the distant past of some region, where some calamity involving Pokémon messed up the world, and the native Pokémon have to work on rebuilding. The plot mostly is just an excuse to build stuff.

Interestingly, one of the notes from our Ditto's Trainer points out that our Ditto gets nervous around water, in turn the Trainer assumes Ditto is afraid of said water

It feels mostly like justification for why they don't allow diving, and why you drown early on before you get the Lapras/surf transformation, so I'm sure they'll have Ditto get over it's fear the moment they allow us to dive, if that becomes a thing in DLC
