>Certain Mega Stones in Champions will be free for a limited time if you transfer the pokemons from Z-A>They'll be a paid item in the store later onThis is the worst timeline. We wanted showdown and they gave us the jewest GAAS
>>59055035They better have some meta defining abilities
It's hilarious how you ignore they've wanted to KILL sowdick for years and this affords them that ability.
I thought Champions was just supposed to act like an newer battle focused Pokemon Stadium / PBR where you load up teams from the other games. What is going on, they're stripping out your items to make you earn/buy them only in Champions?
>>59055060They can't do shit.
>>59055090It's a F2P mobile game, the monetization was going to be cancerous from the beginning. The only thing you can deposit are Pokemon. You have to use ingame currency to adjust their EVs, natures, abilities, moves, and give them held items. Items obviously can't be transferred through Home, and EVs are reset on transfer. It's unknown if minted natures are also reset.
This should have been a full price paid game instead. Basically a modern Stadium. But noooooooooooo they wanted to milk the cow because of course!
>>59055226If it was a full price game you'd still complain about the priceEspecially since it would probably be $70USD
>>59055233I wouldn't at all. I rather pay full price once than having to deal with microtransactions bullshit.
>>59055245>implying it wouldn’t be bothPrease undastando server upkeep expensivu
>>59055226It was confirmed for mobile when it was first announced, basically sealing its fate from the get go.If it was Switch exclusive, maybe it could've been the next Stadium game and not GAAS slop.
The mega stones aren't "paid", we already know you can get them all with in-game currency. Nothing that actually affects gameplay and the meta is going to be locked behind a paywall, bigger concerns with the monetization are things like very limited box space.
>>59055285>Nothing that actually affects gameplay and the meta is going to be locked behind a paywallExcept all the games where you can obtain the pokemons
>>59055285>Nothing that actually affects gameplay and the meta is going to be locked behind a paywallFirst time dealing with GAAS? Here’s how it works>you can earn relevant currencies/items for free with copious amounts of grinding and waiting>you can just buy them instead to save time>because all of the monetization comes from selling these items, if anyone ever figures out a way to make the process of acquiring them for free NOT a painful god-awful slog, that will have to be patched, in order to drive more revenue at the cash shopThe only way this game was ever going to not suck would be if TPCI decided to loss lead it as a way of building interest in competitive Pokemon, just for branding reasons. If it was allowed to be a money-sink as a service for the good of the brand. If the game has to be profitable on its own, it’s doomed, because what it’s put up against is a game (Showdown) that doesn’t have to be profitable at all, and is indeed basically run as a charity.
>>59055035Wait until they finally kill Showdown for this.
>>59055285Yeah bro they're going to move away from OP shit locked behind DLCs to just giving everything relevant away for free haha absolutely bro so true haha
>>59055315Showdown will never go away. You can't DMCA math equations.
>>59055312So nothing is locked behind a paywall... that's what I said. The main currency for everything is VP and they specifically said you can't buy it directly, so that's obviously not their intended monetization method.>>59055316Yes actually, new F2P PvP games don't get away with scummy pay to win models. It's different to paid games getting DLC.
>>59055405Oh to be this deluded
>>59055436>I have no argument just let me doompostk
>>59055459You literally do not know any better.
>>59055221can you get your pokemon back if you send them to this game?
>>59055090Every new Gen you have to reacquire all the items this isn’t some new thing. What’s the last game that let you transfer items to the next gen?
>>59055520A game has never made you pay or redo EVs upon transfer.
>>59055465I've come to a rational conclusion based on what we know. I don't know what F2P game traumatized you, but not all of them use bad monetization practices.
>>59055528>but not all of them use bad monetization practices.Name some that don't.Try to stick to Japanese ones, because they have a different idea when it comes to acceptable monetization.
>>59055405>The main currency for everything is VP and they specifically said you can't buy it directlyyou cant buy VP, but you CAN buy tickets that you can use to pay for recruiting and building mons as an alternative to VP. these were visible in the last trailer, where we also saw VP costs had gone up 2.5x compared to the previous trailer
>>59055221>EVs are reset on transferWhy, because it's lvl 50 instead of 100, so they don't want to worry about rounding 1/63/63 evs?
>>59055549You know what would be really funny? If battles were time-gated.
>>59055550So you can't just transfer stuff from the mainline games and never interact with their engagement system.
>>59055060>they've wanted to KILL sowdick for yearsYou have a shred of anything to back that up?
>>59055285The modern human and their inability to parse that time investment is just as if not more valuable than financial investment.>Time is money, friend
>>59055549HAHAHAHAHAHA OH NO NO NO NO NO
>>59055528>but not all of them use bad monetization practicesKek completely buckbroken zoomoid. I bet you're happy you pay rent.
>>59055060>>59055315This game won't even get close to killing Showdown
>>59055525Okkkkk but the post I’m replying to and OP post are about items? Where has it been said EVs don’t transfer?
>>59055535>>59055579No one seems to be able to name one competitive PvP game that locks gameplay content behind a paywall or has predatory monetization. All the big esports games these days monetize with cosmetics and optional battle passes, players won't tolerate pay to win so it's the industry standard.I hope you aren't using single player gacha games to compare, they are a completely different beast.
>>59055669League literally makes you buy characters.
I hope floette is good because that would help justify to terrible grind it took to get her and the shiny charm
>>59055684The base form will probably be a decent scarfer. The mega is pretty bad. Not enough speed, and it keeps the physical frailty.
>>59055595I don't see anything that states transfers must be trained from scratch, but here's some info from the site.>EVs seem to be added in increments of 8 now>510 / 8 = 63.75, total amount of EVs increased to reach 66 points>training done in Champions doesn't carry over to other games>Champions training is lost if the mon returns in a different form (genies, Rotom, Deoxys...)
>>59055790>if a Pokemon knows moves it can’t learn in Home those have to be changed with trainingThat seems to imply things carry over
>>59055673You can buy characters using the free currency you get from playing games, completing missions, and crafting. Yes it will take an eternity unlocking every champion at the time you start playing if you don't spend real money, but there's no good reason to own more than a handful of champions in league. The old rune system though was pretty much pay2win
>>590550601. /vp/ isn’t one person. Only retards hate Showdown2. Showdown is open source. Trying to take it down will just mean someone else brings it back up.
>>59055934>2. Showdown is open source. Trying to take it down will just mean someone else brings it back up.Good luck on getting everyone to agree to congregating on the same fork, though! It might be unkillable in theory, but it can be killable based on how willing people are to keep moving to different hosts, especially when tranny drama from specific hosts is inevitable.
>>59055947Everyone already did with Showdown when it first started…
>>59055790Huh yeah, the EVs thing is mysterious. It looks like the max for a stat went from 252 points to 256 so they're even numbers at lvl 50, and total EVs went from 510 to 528?Maybe they won't be wiped, it'll be like transferring up a mon from gen 3~5 to gen 6+, where if you had 252+ points in something it'd get changed to 252 and you'd have an extra space of a couple (probably useless) EVs. So maybe moving something to Champions will keep its old EVs and Champions goes "you have room for 18 more points on this thing before its maxed out".I guess we'll find out in a couple weeks.
>>59055790EV training better be dirt cheap because otherwise people are just gunna gen their mons to bypass the costs
>>59055951Yeah, back in 2011, when tranny drama wasn't a concern.
>>59055035Remember people will defend this solely out of spite towards showdown
>>59055953Yeah, this is definitely related to how stats are calculated at level 50. At level 50, 8 EVs (1 stat point) will literally just add +1 to a stat. Gets rid of "wasted" EVs and makes it easier to understand for newcomers. Pre-existing spreads could probably be converted by rounding up, using 65 of the 66 stat points.
>>59055790Seems like you have to engage with the system to train your Pokemon in champions considering it has its own EVs. Otherwise, it would just modify the training done in champions would carry over to whatever game the Pokemon comes from.
>>59056086It has to do with IVs, the way EVs work, the first point costs 4 EVs and the rest cost 8, because 2 IVs is worth one stat point, and you have 31 in a maxed stat. So to get from the value of 31 to the next stat point, you only need 4EVs, and the rest of them require 8.It seems like the system instead is defaulting to 30IVs because it makes the math simpler. You were always able to spend 255 EVs, now you're just able to spend 256 so you can still get the stat to where it was with the original 31 IV.
>>59055853>but there's no good reason to own more than a handful of champions in league.Doesn't matter. If you pick a character and you suck with it, you're just out of that time. It's only free if your time is worthless.
>>59056271>>59056086Actually the way the math works out, it’s the same quantity of stat points, with SLIGHT changes in distribution. With the new system of 256 EV per stat from IVs of 30 (rather than 252 from IVs of 31), you have 16 remaining EV to distribute among the remaining 4 stats… which would be what it takes to get each of those 4 stats to 31 IV values. But rather than distributing them like that, which has no measurable impact since at lv50 they’re only worth half a stat point each, they instead let you spend them in a full 8 increment as 2 stat points. So it’s sort of like if, in addition to EVs, you could take a 31IV and make it 30, in exchange for making another stat 32IV. It leaves no split/dump points at lv50.
