It's on his team in every single game he's ever appeared in with the sole exceptionof his venusaur teams where it replaces it's spot, and his round 2 team on pokemon stadium 2.
Xatu used to have a red eye on each wing. They removed it in Crystal, but you can still see it in the backsprite.

Not that niche but given how old G/S are it may count:There's a challenge in Viridian city in the original Gold and Silver where you can fight a powerful trainer. The default trainer uses a team of the 3 final stages of each Johto starter at level 50 but if you used the Mystery Gift feature (which sucked ass back in the day because it was only usable on the GBC instead of GB[Pocket] or later on the GBA) you would face off against the team of the person you connected to.As a kid I thought it was the last team you connected to for a battle but apparently it was just Mystery Gift.
