Why redo that sprite when the original GS one was fine? Quite a few Gen 1/2 Pokemon got lazy recolors rather than sprite redos for Gen 3, why did Feraligatr get a WORSE one? And look at the sprites, there's less focus on the head and torso, and then the official art starts giving it mantits. Why was this necessary?

The back definition was definitely a greater feature, but the simpler pupils it accidentally had from sprite limitations are what really made it work. It goes from water charizard to cracked out crash bandicoot enemy. Even with a different body and color palette, it's that stupid crazed look on its face.

>>59063577It looked worse after GS, but more than anything 3D fucked it, its one of many pokemon who got the "looks too wide and too bottom heavy and none of the elements of it look cohesive anymore" treatment in the jump to 3D. Like nothing is objectively wrong but so many little things come together to make it way less cool than it shoudl be.Usually this is because a lot of pokemon have legs that are designed to make sense in the context of being drawn overtop the lower body, but don't REALLY fit in that space so well, so in the 3D model they just seem pasted onto the sides and it fucks up the whole thing.
