>>59075141My issue isn't with Charizard, it's that the end all be all of pokemon designs is STILL Charizard. There's plenty of newer designs that are just as, or subjectively more cool, but they're usually not pushed as much in "normie facing" media, and more importantly, that despite GF and TPC clearly acknowledging the popularity of Charizard and these other designs, they don't bring that design language forward into newer generations, it feels like since gen 7 they've been designing pokemon almost intentionally to never be as cool as Charizard.

Don't get me wrong, Charizard will always be a generally well-liked design, but most kids today don't really give that much of a shit about dinosaurs anymore. They want cool, sleek designs that remind them of their favorite shonen heroes like Greninja Cinderace and Lucario. They want CHARACTERS, not generic monsters.
