Him taking over was on his list, the whole can of worms with Lucius, Gibeon and the pink crystals was just a nice bonus he couldn't resist to cash in on.

I think Horizons was supposed to end with this arc but Winds and Waves, which were planned to release this year, got delayed to 2027. Horizons now has the chance to redeem itself after this disastrous timeskip arc

Like Pikachu's Vacation but with dialogue. Could be pretty cute and entertaining for kids.And it's not like Horizons made an effort to adapt the stories from SV or ZA. It uses locations and characters from the games to tell a completely original story.
