I get that it's kinda resource intensive but I wish they'd make more pokemon with gender differences, or give some more to older pokemon.thoughts on them?
>>59093922I know "species" also gets kinda stretched with some gendered pokemon (the Nidoran family as well as Tauros and Miltank being the key ones) are considered "the same species"; could that also apply to the Latis?
>>59093925In Pokémon, the dex number is the only thing determines what is a different species. Anyway, I'd be OK with more Gender counterparts.
>>59093925I believe the Nidorans, and Tauros/Miltank explicitly have the thing where when you breed the male and female counterparts together, you have a 50% chance of getting the male, which all but confirms them being the same species. We've yet to get males and females with outright different stats though, even Meowstic has the same stats iirc
>>59093922It's a cool feature but not something I care that much either, and it's something GF is sweeping under the rug because it's extra work
>>59093922I wish gamefreak didn't hire lobotomites but got biologist consultants to make a more deep and thoughtout world>diurnal and nocturnal pokemon>sexual dimorphism >eugenics>food webs>pokemon aging and dying naturally>pokemon affecting their world in a logical and believable way, like having electric type pokemon help in powerplants, voltorbs being used for terrorism with their selfdestruct
>>59093922It's just another model, why is the most profitable media franchise in history so fucking cheap?
>>59094314Volbeat and Illumise do the same thing as well, they can produce eggs of one another.>We've yet to get males and females with outright different stats thoughIndeedee M and F. The male and female swap offense and defense stats. Pretty close, but not the same. They also have different learnsets and abilities.
>>59094781doesnt meowtism do this too, or do they just have different abilities/learnsets and not outright stats
>>59094788Meowstic has different hidden abilities and learnsets but the same stats.
>>59094781Oh, shit, didn't know Indeedee did this.
>>59093922They started doing that in Gen 4 and then they immediately dropped it
>>59095982>they immediately dropped it after gen 4>op's image is of a gen 5 'mon???
>>59094740>>pokemon affecting their world in a logical and believable wayHonestly one of the bigger problems is how illogical the pokemon world would be. Just at a baseline, the pokemon world is absurdly cataclysmic. That is, rapid, massive changes to ecosystems are very common. Tyranitar can knock down mountains, and Aggron can build them back up. Some pokemon spread deserts, jungles, and wetlends, which are all at odds with eachother.Another issue is very lopsided ecology. Garchomp moves at Mach 2, can sprint, fly, burrow, and swim, and can effectively 1v1 99% of pokemon. Probably 1v2 a lot of them. So, why isn't Garchomp literally everywhere? Why does shit like Stantler even exist, when it has to contend with things like Garchomp flying in, eating two Stantler, and being gone in the time it takes the third to take a piss? And THEN there's the weird outlier ecologies that would exist in pokemon. In our world, all food chains start at the sun, or in a few deep ocean environments, heat and chemical vents. Not so in pokemon, where lithivores exist, as well as things that don't apparently need to eat anything, but still provide energy to other things that eat and derive nutrition from esoteric things like emotions. Things like deep subterranean magma tubes, or lava bubble chambers have every reason to be teeming with life.
It always bugged me how even in Gen 4 the distribution of gender differences was very inconsistent. Female Rhyperior have smaller horns, but Aggron do not.Female Luxray have smaller manes, but Manectric do not.Female Heracross have different horns, but Pinsir do not.Female Gyarados and Swalot have different whiskers, but Whiscash do not.Female Mamoswine and Donphan have smaller tusks, but Walrein do not.Venusaur, Meganium and Blaziken get differences, but not the other starters, not even the actual gen 4 starters. And worst of all, Golbat and Gligar have differences, but Crobat and Gliscor don't.
>>59096677I mean, some of these inconsistencies sorta make sense, dimorphism can manifest entirely differently in a lot of species. A lot of reptiles have larger females than males, for example.
>>59096011He means subtle sexual dimorphism, like how male Raticates have longer whiskers and female Scythers have larger abdomens.
