To be fair lighting is a pain in the ass with the normal map and all that shit, and this is mostly for the tightly controlled VGC formats so the priority is still about the same (JP Stadium was the same thing). That also having been said this gives me expectations for more BF/Stadium style content, I fully expect a Little Cup or Pika Cup or something format when they get around to adding those earlier forms.

They've literally got all the assets they've been recycling since 2013 right there, literally every pokemon at this point has an HD texture set and some form of model used on the Switch, the assets are literally all there and Showdown has every option you could possibly want for a pokemon battle for FREE on any platform that can run a web browser. The context of this release is completely different from the context of Japan's Stadium 1 release. Don't even try that shit.
