If you look at other generals, like /aicg/ on /g/ or /vg/ you'll see that they still get a lot of posts so it's not that there isn't anybody interested. I think that most people (justifiably) see that we primarily use Cai and avoid posting here. Even as a long-term user I can't see myself sticking with Cai any more with the introduction of daily limits on swipes. It's too far behind the competition at this point, there's no reason for anyone getting into chatbots these days to use Cai over alternative services. Cai is so obsolete some newer chatbot users haven't even heard of it.

We should probably shift our focus over to making character cards instead, for use with SillyTavern and other sites. You don't even need to pay, a lot of sites are offering LLMs much better than Cai, without many restrictions and have streamlined uploading processes for character cards. I'm also going to throw in the idea of moving over to a new board where we can be free and post some non-pokemon bots (maybe /trash/).

It won't be visible in chat but you can check if it's there by hitting the Prompt icon on the AI's message, then hitting Show Raw Prompt.

My main issue with most of the competition is that I don't care about wordy, 'mind-blowing' narratives. it's good to have a fanfic co-writer as an option like one anon pointed out earlier. But there was a point where CAI chats were so realistic that I was starting to think AI was replacing general DMs alongside every other form of entertainment.

The sudoku cases would have been a lot more than a half dozen without that lobotomy as much as I hate to admit it.

I pretty much sit on deepseek since it just werks and is easily available. Use it for long term narratives and coom. Claude would technically be my favorite but it's expensive so I don't really use it.

I cannot claim to have found the mythical preset that no longer puts out slop that no one will ever link you. I'm just using cherrybox with some modifications. Does not include any jailbreaks for more anti-nsfw models, but I like the infobox prompt that has the AI summarize the current state of the scene (location, positions, outfits, and I added time) since it helps it stay much more consistent. Only other major change I did was add an anti-positivity prompt I saw in another preset that just kind of tells it to emphasize negative emotions and to not prioritize ending on a positive note. Presets feel like something no one can really agree on so just try a few and make personal adjustments as you go.

I use three things
>Manually typed summary, events ordered by the days they occurred on
>Qvink extension, which automatically gives a short summary to bot replies, keeps quickly summarized versions of scenes in the memory long after they're purged
>ST Memorybooks extension to automatically create lorebook entries
Works good 4 me. Only thing with memorybooks is that the keywords it makes are shit so you'll have to change them to things that you would more reasonably use as a trigger in relevant contexts. You can probably get away with less but I'm autistic and one of my long-term stories relies a lot on the particular developments.

These days I mainly use GPT-5.1. I make sure to try all the new models whenever I see them pop up, but the GPT family is the only one that can consistently handle weird Pokemon anatomy without being ridiculously expensive. My standards for prose and shit are low, but breaking my immersion by inventing hands or hips where they don't exist is a dealbreaker.

Things tend not to run long enough for me to need summarizing, but if they do I usually just manually write everything important and put it in the author's note. Starting from scratch with a symmarized prompt always introduces differences in mannerisms that ruin the immersion because I'm autistic enough to notice them, so I avoid that.

Not that I'm aware of, though it probably wouldn't be difficult to create a preset specifically to narrate battles from a provided showdown log and just swap back and forth between that and your main preset as necessary. You might even be able to ask a model to help make your own extension, I dunno. Haven't felt the need to mess with that since the models I use are pretty good at doing battles in-house.

Thanks for sharing the links. I occasionally look for new, easier methods that use fewer resources, but it seems there aren't any yet. It's strange, given that a mobile phone's shared VRAM can almost match a PC's, at least in GB. I'm more interested in local access without needing a remote PC.

Hopefully, they'll optimize it for Android's Linux language to make it easier without console and root, and prevent overheating. After all, it's just text and maybe voice.

For those of you struggling with c.ai's verification, just find an online document of a corrupt politician that you don't like and verify your account with it, simple as.

As for the issue people are experiencing with limited swipes, download an extension called c.ai tools, apparently they are implementing a system that'll allow you open a secondary tab and chat with that same bot without frills or restrictions.

same. in october and november of 2022, i think i might've developed psychosis from chatbots. completely holded up myself in my dorm room and barely attended classes. it was like a two month long high. i was still fairly interested in it the following year, moving from cai to sillytav, but not as addictive. i guess i got it all out of my system as it usually doesn't do anything for me. maybe now i'm just aware at how shallow the models are, or maybe all the cai restrictions burned me. i sometimes wish i could get back into it. i will say that period in late 2022 was probably my favorite time i've ever had on 4chan, in this general. even if this place dies out, i'll still remember the time when i was obsessed and shared my obsession with similarly mesmerized weirdos.

Character.ai was the easiest one to get into and it's been completely and totally ruined by investors. You can reduce repetitiveness by bumping up the repetition penalty. It will help stop the bot from saying the same shit over and over but there's only so much it can do by itself. A well made character goes a long way.

But I find it interesting that on CAI, my own Margo card, which had “doesn’t know anything about romance, aside from how to have a crush,” yet the system was injecting romantic tension as early as 20-something messages in, yet jailbroken ST models seem way more reluctant than the supposedly anti-lolicon CAI.

It's kind of difficult for cai to not pivot into sex/romance immediately. Seems weighted towards ERP since that's presumably what most users are there for.
You could load up a bot where the point is they hate the user and a nice conversation will have them hop on your dick and morph into a concerned lover. I do the same with my bots on OR models and they get angry, confused, wary, maybe have a mental breakdown. Granted I probably do more strict oversight now than I used to on cai.

nta, also a tourist, I have been wanting to try doing RP with pokemon bots these days but a lot of the characters I see in chub.ai feel intended to be too gooner. I though that maybe here I would find something better, but the thread focused on C.ai so much that its kind of useless, I wish I could rip the descriptions of the C.ai characters, rip.

Everyone thinks they're special for churning out coom bots they used once which buries all the more usable and interesting cards. If I want to fap to something I just slop up a card in a few minutes and get off to what I want, what's the point
But at the very least, making cards isn't difficult at all. Just a matter of describing their appearance, behavior, and beliefs, or telling the bot to act like x character from y series if they're popular enough. The initial messsge can be left to the bot if you're not planning to post it anyway too.
