>Pokémon are just animals, they can't build houses or tell stories, they aren't sentient they aren't people, PMD and that one episode of the anime are non-canon just so there can be a narrati->POKOPIA>fundamentally, incontrovertible a world in which Pokémon had human trainers. PC system, Pokémon League, mentions every Kanto gym leader by name. If this is not in one of the mainline timelines, is at least one incredibly close like RSE's and ORAS's.>hell, may very well be the bridge between mainline and PMD, given the prevalence of natural disasters and human ruins yet treating humans as almost mythological history. AND YET, pokemon building shit, telling stories, cooking meals, making art, making clothes, complex sociality, music theory, basically human-ass cavemen in funny shapes. And that's not even including Protag Ditto.Pokémon are people. They're primitive savages, monstrous, often cannibal. Their worldview revolves around Might Makes Right and the pursuit of power. If someone defeats them in fair combat and offers to train them to become stronger they swear undying loyalty as long as that person actually competently follows through on the promise, no matter what kind of atrocities they're asked to commit or how horribly they're treated. But also seem just as capable of caring, cooperation, and compassion. As with many monsters and spirit creatures, their moral system feels completely unhinged to the Human mind.BUT they are, objectively and unequivocally, people, at least in the same way that like, Vampires and Satyrs and Kappas and Demons and Jinn and Leprechauns are. Pokemon aren't just based on yokai sometimes, pokemon ARE literally yokai, not animals. Some just happen to be a little more animal shaped, like Ratatoskr or Puss in Boots or Kitsune, and they speak their own language separate from human's.
My headcanon is that the intelligence of most Pokemon is roughly equally (meaning nearly human) and with some obvious outliers actually being significantly more intelligent than humans. Yet Alakazam do not philosophize, invent language, build cities, play music, watch Rick & Morty, etc. Why?The difference I think is that Mesprit, Azelf and Uxie gave humanity higher consciousness. Without their influence, humans would be smart-but-dumb the same way all other Pokemon are. The humans in the Pokemon universe don't have the best HARDWARE (intelligence/IQ) what they have is SOFTWARE (soul/consciousness) that's far more advanced than anything else in the Pokemon universe, aside from possibly select legendaries like Arceus.
>>59108536>Pokémon are peopleor, people are Pokemon. if Pokemon are the equivalent to animals in-universe, and humans irl are animals (they are), then ergo humans in-universe are Pokemon. would also explain why some humans seem to have type affinities, like psychics or swimmers that display superhuman endurance.
Nobody cares, you are still a zoophile if you want to fuck Pokemon>B-butCope furfag
>>59108817I assume with their human-like intelligence Pokemon still know that there are ecological niches to fill, and/or still run on animal instinct for things like Rapidash's tendency to chase anything going fast.
