>>59111698Aside from the notion of "because they felt like it", if I had to pick apart the reasoning from a worldbuilding perspective, it might be because it plays into the idea that Zubat is in-universe unlikeable due to its nature as an obnoxious bloodsucker that infests nearly every cave and harasses anything with a pulse, and it's also one of Team Rocket's most common mons, further giving it a bad reputation.

Cyrus is an insane terrorist but his Crobat shows that, despite his ranting about how emotions are meaningless, he does still have a heart and is capable of feeling affection. That doesn't change the fact that he belongs in a straight jacket.
