In Mato's art pretty much everyone who didn't have game art was a nondescript blob. And representing characters without artworks is one of PokeSpe's main appeal to me.

>>59126832I'm not that anon, but while I wouldn't call it sameface (not denying it might be, it's just not the first thing that comes to mind), I think his faces are drawn kind of weird. It's like the eyes are set too far apart on almost all characters and maybe the faces are too wide too, so sometimes characters can have these dopey wall-eyed expressions at times when they're supposed to look neutral/cool.That said Mato's art also got too chibified over time, starting in about Yellow or so (I think people legitimately couldn't tell if Pokespe Lance was supposed to be an adult or not going by how she drew him? Is there even an answer?)I kind of wish each part had a different artist.

Volume 8 is chicken-scratch quality.The art does start to get simpler around the chapters Yellow trains with Green (M).As for Yamamoto, he was good in GSC/first half RS when he was copying MATO, but I think his biggest issue are his female characters having resting dopey or bitch faces and being unable to draw hair or any softer textures.
