The best games since BW2, definitely the best on Switch.
>>
They are bad.

>>59111886
the best switch games, the characters are all thoughtfully written, and while there are both good and bad mon, the pokedex is overall very solid.

Nemona is cute.
The game itself is boring open-world slop.

>worst gym “puzzles” in the series
>pretty bad “evil” team
>horrible performance if you’re playing on switch 1
>kino finale
>barren post-game without DLC and even with the DLC it’s not that good
>>

good quality of life shit that should've been in the games years ago, especially with the UI
everything else is the ugliest, glitchiest most unpolished turd you'll ever witness, only somewhat 'saved' if you play it on a Switch 2 (which still has memory leaks btw)
the story is non-existent until the finale, both DLCs do story way better and the open world exploration is barren which makes exploring it boring rather than exciting.

Utter shit

these games kind of rock by pokemon standards, i just played them for the first time on 2witch and it was genuinely the most fun I've had playing a new pokemon game in a very long time
in the grand scheme of things it's still lacking in a lot of ways, but the fact it isn't just a linear jrpg like EVERY other game in the series is the freshest breath of air I've had in such a long time; even if objectively the openwordedness of the game still doesnt hold a candle to other big players.

For what it's worth, it has the best writing in the entire main series by a long shot. Not that the bar was set very high, or that anyone should care about the writing in a pokemon game. For the first time ever it felt like there were genuinely believable characters and plot points, and not just an amalgam of child friendly baby show tropes that we've been seeing for the past decade. I don't know what the fuck happened, but the whiplash you'd get if you went from playing swsh straight into sv would be so fucking real because swsh is the most nonsensical retarded baby shit you could imagine.

A shitty Open World game, potentially one of the worst

Immeasurable disappointment

Mediocre game. Blueberry Academy is the only notable thing.

Nah that's still BW

Three paths where you do the same missions and watch the same cutscenes with slight tweaks play out over and over and over until you want to end yourself.

it's crazy to see so many contrasting opinions.
should i get the dlc from the get go or from endgame onwards?

Big dex, decent story but very easy

The exploration is fun if you're one of those people who want to see every corner of the map. Every bit of terrain was clearly designed with intent, and it shows. It was worth the money for me just for this.
The battles at their core are as usual.
The new battle gimmick is ass (probably the worst of universally-shit gimmicks).
The face/hair customization is very welcome and executed decently.
Clothes customization is ass (it pretty much doesn't exist).
NPC personalities are good and varied.
NPC looks are mostly horrible.
Easiest games to date. I literally can't imagine anything that could make them even easier.
Main story doesn't exist for most of the game, once it picks up before the end, it's pretty good, but the fact that the final area is so weirdly railoaded in an open world exploration game, makes the whole final part feel off.
No endgame.
Many regular new pokemon look fine.
Paradox pokemon all look terrible.
Camping and cooking may as well not exist - you probably should NEVER camp. It will increase your pokemon's friendliness, which completely dismantles some of the core battle mechanics and makes you feel like you just entered a bunch of cheat codes into a game that could be beaten with your eyes closed even without them.

I'm in the same boat, just bought Scarlet due to Winds and Waves looking promising and I wanted to see how Game Freak handled open world. Is there a way to explore the map that might provide some decent challenge while still being fun?
>>

Yes just rotate your team and do some of the gyms out of order
>>

Several times you are able to enter areas high above your level. Of course, going through them will overlevel you compared to what you should be doing, but it's fun.
