Yokai Watch proves Pokemon fans don't really care about feature rich monster collector games with engaging battle mechanics, well written stories and detailed expansive regions to explore. As long as Joe Shmoe can get his Charizard Pokemon will always sell millions of copies. It's almost comical to see Pokemon fans talking about 'postgame content' when Yokai Watch 3 has a whole different game included as a side activity.

>>59112160i know this thread is written in a genwar sense where youre supposed to mindlessly shit on the game in question to defend your favorite toys honor or whatever but how about instead everyone just plays this game because its good :)
>>59112160Yokai has none of these
>>59112160Did I play the wrong game?Because I downloaded the demo for one of the games, and the battles just auto-played with no real interaction.Did they fuck up the demo, or is the battle system just that bad?
>>59112160Yeah, people like pokemon because of the pokemon themselves, what a shock
>>59113235Please don't pretend Pokemon combat has any actual depth
>>59113252It has enough depth for TPC to host tournaments for decades. The main games just fuck it up by having the story be Singles when the battle system is balanced for Doubles.
>>59112160>engaging battle mechanicsI doubt it.Level-5 games tend to have incredible production values but boring ass gameplay. And a ton of feature creep and "content", but who cares when the game itself is not fun to play. And to this day there's still no Pokemon clone with comparably good gameplay, until that happens this type of discourse will always come off as cope.
>>59113268For what's essentially rock paper scissors there's a pretty fair depth to combat
>>59113273Frankly if you're constantly comparing every other game in this subgenre to Pokemon, you're setting yourself up to be disappointed. Try Cassette Beasts though.
>>59113273>Pokemon>good gameplay
>>59112160Anon states the obvious
>>59113461See >>59113268Unless you just hate JRPGs.A lot of people here seem to.
>>59113235the first two games have that auto-battle system. its completely changed in 3 to a tactics board thing that still has some auto elements but is way more involved, there is also a second combat system that functions more like an action rpg for a side area in the game
