To summarize my previous experiences
>As a small child I saw Episode 49-51 on the Totally Togepi VHS(I got deja vu years later watching them) and watched the first two movies on VHS
>I caught a glimpse of a late Sinnoh era episode visting my father in a hotel once (which somehow lead to my brain mixing up Dawn and Misty for a couple years and assuming the girl in the ones I saw as a kid was Dawn)
>Saw a full episode of the Unovan anime with the CGI intro when visting my father later
>Then as a 10 year old actually playing the games I decided to watch the whole anime since it was on Youtube pirated at that point (Kalos anime was just starting)
>Actually I remember a false start with just the first 5 or so, couldn't find Samurai and worried it was banned and then got confused about Metapod, but uh, eventually I went back
>Watched Indigo League, watched Orange Islands
>Started to sputter out during Johto, got really weirded out when they changed intro and name midway through the region(it suddenly being called Johto League Champions when he was nowhere near there bothered me). I think I quit a couple episodes into that season not long after the Whitney fight. I had zero clue where the movies were set back then and didn't bother watching them(I know now I should have seen the first 3 movies by that point).

Do you think I'd get anything out of it to rewatch the series now as a medicore young adult? If so, should I start over from scratch or try to pick up where my childhood self left out at the start of S4 with Ash 3 badges into Johto?

How good is the rest of the show? Will I even be able to tolerate it? Should I go back and watch the movies?

What's the best way to see it? What are the differences? I know some versions have like Pokerap and Karokemon and some don;'t

My history with the anime is kinda simmilar and I've though about this quite a bit too, but every time I come to the conclusion that its not, mainly becauae it's just too kidy. Then again, I guess thst can be said about the series as a whole and yet here I am. Maybe rewatch Indigo Leauge and see if you'd be comfortable about the rest.

Are you really that bored to spam this? Stay in padt or something, it's not our fault if your show took a break

i watch it while i work out

Like broadly speaking the last time I checked in on anything anime related was googling which of Ash's abandoned loose ends he had dealt with when the series ended (Pidgeot yes, Primeape and GS Ball no) and a couple years before that watching that one guy do the plusle and minun cinemasins thing with S1 before he vanished.

I also read the first two volumes of the Manga back in like....like a year or so after I gave up on the anime, but like, a decade ago, and only read the third one like a year ago when I saw it for sale.

I saw Movie 1 and 2 on VHS as like a small small kid, but again, didn't rewatch them during my anime watch as a tween despite with hindsight knowing they were set during the anime. (And I think Movie 3 is set like right at the tail end of Johto Journeys?)

Oh I forgot to mention I watched a few stray movies in the mid 2010s just because I was bored and Dailymotion had them, the Darkrai one, the Jirachi one, the Arceus one, the Lucario one, and I think the Diancie one when it was new. And I think a random couple of episodes from way later like the one in Hoenn with the Jigglypuff who isn't our Jigglypuff th

So basically I shouldn't have backed out when I was in the target audience.

I think I just got burned out with it during Johto and got intimidated by how much lay ahead and just never came back, and now it's been so long

The seasons are misleading. Kanto is actually by far the shortest region.

Also two things to note that has changed since you were last here, uh, for some retarded reason the back half of Indigo League is split into the Orange Islands in most newer releases(which is why those Youtube videos say S2) which is obviously not how it aired.

And in 2014 a couple Orange Island and Johto episodes with short Jynx cameos got pulled. You're gonna want older DVD boxsets with those episodes in tact(obviously the banned 4 from S1 won't be there, but they've always been missing you surely know that) and with Indigo League and Orange Islands not fused
>>
The dub is shit and most of your confusion comes from the retarded way the dub made up its own "seasons" that had nothing to do with how the show was actually written.

The DVDs are the one place they didn't change that actually, but yeah get a pre-2014 one.

In Japan the show ran non-stop, but still seperated itself into series per region except for Kanto-Orange-Johto. America did the thing it always does of splitting the show when the theme song changes you still see that today.

The only weird one is Pallet Party Panic, which is always aired on TV and on streaming with the Indigo League intro, but is on the DVD with the Orange Islands intro, and noone can seem to agree which season it's in.

I mean that's neat, but it wasn't really the core of my question I was asking if I should watch again and gave some context. Like how long would it take? It's one episode per 22 minutes so like 3 an hour. If I watched 10 a day I could finish Season 1 in like a week that's not the end of the world I guess, I just...I dunno

It's really not a masterpiece. Don't try to go watching 10 episodes of a kids show a day, you'll drive yourself insane.
If you feel you must see it, I'd recommend just watching like one or two episodes a day, make a long-term project out of it.
Depends how die-hard of a pokemon fan you are honestly. I did it once a long time ago back when the XY series was ongoing and it was decently cool, but repetitive, even despite me being able to tolerate it better due to being a lot younger then.

Also you'll probably see people tell you to watch the Japanese version but while I'll generally swear by the subs for shows, it just feels a bit wrong to watch Pokemon without it being in English, even if it is poorer quality.

Should I continue where I left off as a child and start from Johto League Champions and accept forgetting stuff(especially in S2 and S3, I have a bit stronger of a S1 memory thanks to Youtubers) or start over?

What about the movies?
>>
>>59112715
It's not like there's any strong sense of continuity between the seasons, it's probably fine to just continue where you left off from the Johto era. Better to see some fresh stuff while you're still on the fence and you can always go back later to rewatch the original seasons if you end up liking the show.

While I watched the whole show, I never really got around to much of the movies. They are pretty good though, I watched some fairly recently and enjoyed them. Perhaps you can watch the appropriate movie when you're around the point it would've aired

Google says one per each season at least for the first couple. Mewtwo movie is after the surfing pikachu one, Lugia movie is after Charizard learns to obey Ash, Entei movie is right at the end of S3, Celebi movie is during Johto League Champions, and Lati movie is during Master Quest

>it just feels a bit wrong to watch Pokemon without it being in English
Why? It's not an English show, and the dub isn't particularly good either.
>>
Dont watch it. Watch Pokemon Horizons instead.
