I'll agree with you, OP. The repetitive grind to complete the entire Dex is heinous. At least shinies are free due to the backup save oversight, but again, yet another obnoxious grind. I thought FRLG felt really slow to go back to, especially grinding for rare spawns at the Safari Zone, but then I went back to ZA to finish it off and ew, those RNG special portals in the postgame is far worse

The best parts of that experience were mastering the slots and being able to consistently hit the coin cap in under an hour, and getting shiny Deoxys in 2 days when the hunt was estimated to take 2 months
