After all these decades, Pokemon fans haven't been able to pitch any better new Type ideas than Cosmic, Sound and Light. Which means Game Freak is highly unlikely to invent a new Type that's better than those ideas

...Sorta makes you realize that one day, eventually, the higher-ups will obviously insist on creating a brand new Type, for marketing and $$$$. Even if it's 20 years from now. And when that day inevitably comes, they will either go with one of the 3 mentioned ideas, or they'll come up with a stupider idea....Our future looks grim.

Why do we have Dragon and Bug types, but not a Fish type? There are already too many Water Pokémon, they can be divided into two types.
Another idea is Synthetic. Anything man-made or digital that Electric, Steel, Normal etc. cannot quite cover.

Feral/Beast and Regal are also great type ideas imo. And Cyber/Tech is a perfect concept for a new type. You could also always split types, like making Flying Bird and Wind, or something, but I'm not a fan of that one.

This is one of the weirdest takes I've ever seen. Sound makes as much sense as a type as psychic does (nobody asks what's supposed to hit psychic energy SE even though they ask that for sound) or even electric or whatever for that matter because it's animal/object/person + ability for those (and ice and fire and whatever, you get it) And it makes sense as a move attribute like contact or wind where it describes what a move does or accomplishes its effects, which is where we're at now. But sound as a stat? Like, how sonorous a pokemon is? That's really silly, and you're silly for saying it.

Sacred (Holy) type. Strong against and resists Dark/Ghost/Fairy (evil spirits), weak to Poison/Bug (plagues) and Psychic (mediums’ mastery over the spiritual).

It’s resisted by Rock(salt), Grass (nature), Normal(refusal to harm the innocent), and Flying (divinity).

Fairy type convoluted and created this mess. Because most pokemon that could fit into other types just got hit with the FAIRY type, and Gamefreak is NEVER retconning pokemon typing. You would have to create new regional pokemon or original pokemon who would be derivative and only serve to convolute the playerbase more.

The Fairy type, as painful as it may be to hear should probably be the LAST type. It covers mystic, holy, sound, all that shit. It just sounds very gay and retarded.

Psychics use hyperfocus to access the cosmic power that envelops the world. Anything that breaks said focus, cuts their connection. So, annoyance(bugs, evil tricks), or fear(ghosts, suprise attacks). BUT ALSO SOUND.

However, sound is too broad. Melodic Music though can be merged with the Fairy type (muses) and give it 2x over Psychics. Bugs should resist Fairies.


Alternatively, Sound can be made into a type BUT it would be better if the Phys/Special split was removed for Normal's sake. To make any "Special" type interactions, just use some of the attacking effectivenesses and apply their reverse for defence (e.g. Electric being weak to Ground, or Ice weak to fire even though they can cool themselves)

So
Sound rings steel armour like a bell
Shatters glass and ice
Shivering also defreezes you
Disperses, reshapes water
Penetrates ground
Startles psychics
Disrupts melody of Fairies
and notably Bugs are deaf.

Sound mons get:
1/2x from water, fairy, ice (ice gets 0x electric)
2x from bug
0x from sound itself

Sound attacks :
2x to steel, psychic, water
1/2x to flying (because of distance and wind noise) and Ground(because sound type is not about general vibrations rather more like music. Music can get muffled if buried under sand)

So to clarify
If the sound the creature makes is more melodic, then the mon will be fairy typed (if the design also supports it).
If the sound is more irritative, then it is a Sound typed mon.

Normal special attacks all turn sound typed, apart from some exceptions, like Hyper Beam. Sound themed attacks from other types stay like so, similar to Fire Punch. Alternatively, introduce dual typed attacks.

idk why people keep thinking normal can't just have normal special attacks that aren't sound-themed. hyper beam, razor wind, blood moon, revelation dance, spit up, swift, trump card, wring out. Just make more simple generic beam or whatever attacks. I mean why can't we just have "Pure Beam" and "Emanate Energy" and "Ptooey" and whatever else. It's easy.
