My yellow version still has energy in the battery.

Is it original? Then again gen 1 batteries last way longer than gen 2. My Blue has a replaced battery though but not sure if it had drained or was a precaution.

But my copy of Donkey Kong Land still has the original battery and it works 30 years later.

The issue is not within the battery in use. Many games including NES ones used batteries to keep save files stored in them. The reason why Gen 2 is very prone to save loss is due to the Real Time Clock feature. That clock is always running and that burns through the battery so it runs out in a much faster rate than the other games that simply power the board with the bare minimum, lasting for decades. Gen 1 games never had such issue because Gen 1 doesnt have a clock running so your 1999 straight from the factory batteries should hold strong still.

I know that's why. But still surprising that Yellow especially with an original battery would still save considering it used a CR1616 rather than CR2025 like Red and Blue. Meaning Yellow's battery only has 1/3rd of the charge as Red and Blue.

True, Yellow's battery is smaller capacity but the power consumption of the cart is so low it barely matters. My friend checked out my Gen 1 carts with a multimeter and had plenty of power still so like 30 or so years and still going!

Yep. 2000 Toys'r'us lucky draw, just dumped the cart less than a week ago. Red and blue had dead batteries though.

Weird how red and blue are dead despite having 3x the capacity. And my Donkey Kong Land with a CR1616 battery also still saves.

Huh maybe the CR1616's Nintendo used were higher quality....

Do you think you could post your save online if your Mew is actually legit? I've only ever gotten Gen 1 Mew through the trainer fly glitch, I never had the opportunity at a legit one because I was born in 01. I have a GB Operator and I'd love to have a legit event mew of my own to move into Stadium 2 for permanent storage lol
