4700 hours of checking!Checking 14 full boxes every day I could for 2 and a half years! At best 1 in 144 odds (maybe a bit higher if I fished tentacools after) a day, 1 in 10k per party
you are in a highly radioactive area which has blurred your photo
It was row 1 box 16. Trying to confirm who the magic mon was (got my Liechi Berry and some Wynauts, if I can find enough box room maybe withdraw my team and dump two in the daycare maybe I'll catch one in every ball).Ruled out the backhalf including the Rhydon I gave surf to go there so it has to be one of the 3 Pikas. It was near the end of my search day (Row 1 of Box 13 out of 14) and I was complimenting myself for doing it quick today and having time to do more fishing after to push the odds higher
It ended up being the fucking Pikachu. How oddly poetic Just had it renamed MIRAGE ISL, guess I can finally do the Battle Frontier or contests or something I dunno
Congrats, anon. I tried to do this myself many years ago but got frustrated and gave up two months in. Wound up getting my liechi berries from a shiny Zigzagoon giveaway instead.
>>59140659Didn’t know boxes effected this. Isn’t it super rare tho? What’s on the island? Just a unique berry?
>>5914071513 not 16.>>59141086It only checks against what’s in your party. So the optimal strategy is to save outside the PC with only one mon in team, swap out, check, reset until all boxes checked. It’s 1 in 65k per mon, 1 in 10.5k per team, 1 in 144 if you check a full 420. Only way to get more checks per day after that is fishing up tentacool or catching wurmple. I had bad luck and took 2 and a half years. You get an otherwise event exclusive Berry which is very good for contest stats, and the ability to catch wild Wynaut
>>59140659what are we looking at?
>>59142020Thanks, I thought I was alone
>>59142020>>59142136zoom zoom!
>>59142020Mirage island>>59140659Congrats OP, a huge achievement, if I were you I'd save on mirage island and just left it there (or make a backup of your save with you being there)
>>59140659Just pkhex bro
>>59140659At a time where every single one of the piece of shit jeetspamming subhuman shitposters here won't know what the fuck they're looking at, OP delivers. This is beyond fucking based.>>59142181this/thread
>>59140659I would never have the tolerance for something like this. Nicely done OP
>>59140659Based OP, good shit
>>59140659Autistic but respectable. Emerald had some good side features.
>>59142181I’m gonna trade for a Luxury Ball and Master Ball from Fire Red. Maybe dump a Wynaut or two there since I’d need both daycare spots to hold them all and I’d have literally zero box space left. (anyone wanna sell Pokemon box to me)>>59142020Mirage Island man
>>59143052It was supposed to only take 5 months. I started in June 2023 and figured I’d get lucky like how literally the second honey tree I ever checked in Platinum had a Munchlax literally only two honey used ever. I expected to have it by the end of Summer 2023.I’ll fully admit I missed plenty of days and not all days I completed all boxes (albeit some I fished like 50 tentacools after to. Post odds further), but full odds was sometime in spring 2024 and I blew past that. Possibly missed it while sleep deprived o dunno. >>59143137Thanks
Got about a half hour before the day rolls and Pikachu can no longer see the island.I traded two Wynaut to store on Fire Red to save space and in exchange got dummy Rats I released holding my last masterball(from Colosseum I think?)and a Luxury Ball I just got from Selphy. Gonna hear the old man say the line one last time and go catch two more Wynaut. One for each Pokeballs
Here’s a better pic.T minus 25 minutes
Damn, what a journey. It feels…weird, to be over it. It’s become second nature to spend my free time checking boxes while listening to podcasts. I guess I’ll resume what I was doing in 2024, rental Pokemon fighting in the Frontier. I got a silver symbol.Other than that I’ve done all I can with what I have. I don’t have the E Reader Berries or a 4th Hoenn cart or buddies so I can’t make perfect PokeBlocks and I don’t have a third wireless game to do the DoTrio Berry Picker and I don’t have Pokemon Box and I ran out of box space using the last spots for Wynauts so no room to breed a new team for the other frontier places and my playthrough team wasn’t doing so hot.But hey, I found a guy with a Lunatone and the Trader NPC, and back in 2023 I found a guy with Leafgreen…and nicknamed mons…and the same starter…bur hey! Starmie!
>that one Pikachu
>>59143685fun fact, the perfect pokeblocks are actually the black "failed" blocks made by 4 people because they only have 1 sheen or something like that, and with that you can max every contest stat.
>>59143699That….technically works, but it requires 4 Ruby and Sapphire carts with the e reader Berry and hundreds of blends. It’s only intreresting because it requires zero skill and is the only option that works with no mini game skill.(IE: you can do it yourself without trying to time the mixing) The IRL setup is extremely tedious There are actual high quality PokeBlock recipes that can get you to max stats assuming you have the right berries, the one with the Leichi Berry is easier and only requires you to be OK at the mini game, the one without it requires high skill to get the blocks good enough
>>59143692Guess I should post the little bugger. Renamed him to fit. It just so happening to be Pikachu of everything (and I only have one or two Pikachu meanwhile I have 30 Relicanths)it could be is just…such an odd outcome. The series mascot.Welp, the day is about to change. I suppose I must set fail. Farewell Mirage Island!
Got back just in time to see the magic words
>>59143730And now it’s the same old phrase I’ve seen a thousand times before.Wow
Can I share a story about this with you anons? So, it’s like, last July ish. One day late in the evening I get the dreaded INTERNAL BATTERY HAS RUN DRY. I got this battery put in fresh in early 2023 (I had to scrap a full Emerald save complete with Glass Furniture and All Flutes to start over which delayed me playing Platinum to…well still) l. I panic of course, no battery means no Mirage Island and no berries. So I reset and blow and it comes back on and all signs suggest it didn’t reset.Because, FYI, even if you fix a dead battery, the game still thinks tomorrow is a set date and you’ll have to wait until it catches up before stuff works again (IE:100 day old save needs to wait 101 days). I’ve HEARD you can fix this on RS with the Berry glitch patcher, but it does not work on Emerald). Easy way to chdck is Pacifilog TM guy. So it works and I’m fine….until two days later it happens again. I fix it again. Day after again, finally realize it’s not just the position the battery is dying. So I stick it in my pants to warm it up.Basically at some point I figure out as long as the clock battery works at midnight when the day rolls the game is fine and will hold the time. So every night before that I warmed the game up.But when I took it to get replaced they were closed.Eventually the rice bag stops working so I just turn the stove on red hot and wave the Emerald cart above it to heat the battery up so it gives a few minutes of juice. Store still closed.Every night it’s getting harder and I need to get it hotter and hotter for fewer and fewer minutes.Last night I nearly burn my hand it gets so hot and it only barely works.I replace the battery. I’m good. It’s worked fine since
I’ll never see that island legitimately again. And that’s ok.It was a wonderful journey. I have a great berry, a full set of Wynauts, and this thread to show for it. Plus a hit of dopamine I used to go for a long walk and get out of the house and a ton of free time to use on productive things like employement and skills. Thanks anons
>>59143726If you are planning on leaving the island, make pikachu have as many ribbons as you can to conmemorate the occassion
>>59143792I actually just made the choice to save off island.I can’t live in the moment forever. Even if I stayed there overnight, the old man will move on and the second I left it would be gone. I have a Frontier to beat. And it’s better to move on now than cling.I got what I came for, and perhaps more. And yeah maybe I owe Mirage Pikachu something special. Feel free to insert him in meme or art if wanted
>>59143784Congrats on a great achieving something most pokemon fans will never not. I myself finally got a lucky egg in FRLG, I caught over 90 chansey and the odds are supposedly 1 in 20, also managed to get a shiny paras out of it, saw a shiny rhyhorn but it fled.
>>59143805Oh I did that back in 2021. I used it for my entire Emerald playthrough actually to avoid grinding, just traded it using Ruby as a middle man. Also saved a Huntail from my previous dead battery Emerald run to use for the relay and so I could pick the Gorebyss item this time
>>59143810Not the Chansey the egg I mean, always had my current trainee in Emerald holding it
>>59143818I plan to do the same thing for some challenge runs in the gen 3 games, might as well use it if it took me so long to obtain it
Congrats, anon. Mirage Island isn’t a sight many of us fans have seen legitimately or at all, myself included. Good work on the grind, I hope you enjoyed it.
>>59143869Ooo, ooo, why not a mono ghost run? Theres only 6 fully evolved ones at this point>Gengar>Misdrevous>Dusclops>Shedinja>Banette>Sabeleye
>>59143884I think I burned through all my luck getting a Munchlax on my second ever honey tree in Plat. Like in the flower town one of the first two trees, slathered em, second one had a Munchlax on it later that day.Lucky Egg Chansey took a while tho.
