Nemona being Roy's Senpai in the beginning, over her excitement and adaptability when seeing and battling Mega Evolution for the first and second time. Penny and Iono joining Dot in cyber-related hijinks while the latter goes out more. The singular appearances felt concise and on brand with the lifted quotes. Liko could bond with one of them on a more frequent basis though.For the ditto one, I'd mimic Pecharunt.

I've posted here before, 40 yo boomer who's gone back to resume watching where I left off in childhood. Summary so far:- I finished the Orange Islands which was super comfy.- Watched all of Johto. Started off nice, nice to have the og team back together, but yeah the episodes really started to drag towards the end. And enouctered the first instance of jarring change - the drawing style. Something changed suddenly in the Larvitar arc, the faces were never the same again nor was the color palette (e.g. Jessie's hair). On the plus side Team Rocket were hilarious, peak puns.- Advance more jarring - Misty suddenly being written off at the end of Johto. New group dynamic with May and Max. Ash being an insufferable asshole and the last couple of gym badges. I missed Misty, her two cameos were ncie though. But I kept going. Tbh with a brief couple of exceptions, it continued in the vein of end stage Johto, really boring and tiresome. The Hoenn League was underwhelming, felt like the battles were completely random. Was thinking of calling it quits after that but I decided to at least finish all of Advance by watching the Battle Frontier too. R/S/E was my last game, so I should at least catch up to that in the anime.- Advance Battle frontier - seems ok at the start, arguably more lively and exciting than the first part of Advance. BUT......I just got to ep 146 and it's the most jarring thing of all. The actor voices are completely different! I paused, I couldn't go on, I didn't like it at all. Googled it, and yep, apparently that's the exact point 4kids was booted and TPC started doing the dub internally. Apparently it caused quite a stir on the internet and amongst the famdom back in 2006. Esp because the og actors weren't even allowed to audition to get their jobs back.
Like I said I was planning to get to the end of BF, but it's so painful to hear these new voices, I'm wondering if I should just abandon it here. This makes me sadder than even the Misty character leaving. This is like in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when Jason Zack and Trini's actors left (because Haim Saban was exploiting them and they all decided to leave together but at the last minute the other 3 actors stabbed the first 3 in the back and satyed on, enabling Saban to hastily replace them with Rocky Adam and Aisha and shoddily smoothing it over with production using old footage of the first 3 to create a mini arc where they transferred their powers to the new guys and Tommy becomes leader. Is BF so good that it could override my negative feelings about the voice changes? I know it was 20 fucking years ago and I wasn't even 'there' for it, and I should probably just get over it...but I feel sad :(
