This is important for gen 4, because there are a number of things different in Platinum, like the hypnosis accuracy change. Pt maintains this differentiation here to be consistent with other abbreviations where this does matter.You added a character to BW2, shit fix. Further, people rarely say "Black 2 and White 2" they say "Black and White 2", so this abbreviation reflects spoken word better to boot. Making something longer than it needs to be should be avoided. When using them singularly, it is absolutely true that people will use B2 and W2, but this doesn't create ambiguity so its fine. Sword and Shield need the extra characters to differentiate them from Soul Silver. If someone says "SS was my favorite pokemon game" you then need to ask them which SS. This defeats the purpose of an abbreviation, if it ever needs to be clarified. It would be better if you retroactively changed Soul Silver to Ss but that ship has sailed, and past abbreviations being changed for future ones doesn't really make sense. LGPE or LPLE is technically fine either way, but in speech people will say "Pokemon Let's Go" to refer to these games, so omitting the LG is a questionable decision. This is of slightly increased value for these games specifically, because these games do not fall into the traditional gen # formula, so Let's Go is used to refer to them pretty often. Removing the Let's Go from their abbreviation would be like removing the Legends from Arceus & ZA. The Legends games are indeed better without the P though. Time will tell if this holds, if it ever avoids ambiguity with a later game, it will stick for all of them.WiWa is just the way the wind is blowing.
