Have YOU used a link cable or gba wireless adapter to link battle other trainers as a kid, veepee?
>>

I think I still have all of my link cables.
>>
Yeah, my dad got my sister and I each a GBC and link cable so we could play Spy vs Spy. Playing Gold vs my schoolyard chum's Silver was peak. we almost completed the pokedex together too
>>
the cable actually worked and was cheaper
>>
>>59158775
Used it a lot with my brothers and a little bit at school before everyone switched over to the DS games
>>
>>59158775
Yeah me, my best friend, and brother have battled with every new gen since Gen 3
>>
Is it true that the connection was laggy and unstable?
>>
>>59158931
yes you had to let it sit for 5 to 6 minutes in order to let your traded mon walk the cable to your gameboy.

I’ve been playing pokemon since red and blue but despite that I’ve never had a link cable or friends who had it, so I didn’t get to trade and battle with another human being until the ds era

Worked on my machine
>>

They worked reliable as long as you don't jerk the cable connection more than a millimeter. And I think earlier gens had coming possible via frame perfect lag switching or some shit.

I'm pretty sure Pokemon was the only game I ever used it with, not that many games were actually built to use it in the first place. Same with the GameBoy Color's IR connection. I remember using it for Mystery Gift and I think connecting to the Pikachu pedometer, but again very few games actually used these features.

I tried it on several games, but every game that demanded real time like Game Boy Mortal Kombat was a putrid experience.

Besides the Pokémon games, the only things that are good with it were the card game Sims and like the Zelda Oracle games.

Yep I had the old nintendium brick, mostly just did trades rather than battling though until the gens with wifi
>>59158931
It seemed to work fine iirc
>>59159352
The cloning thing in genwun was super easy, you just needed to have the player with the thing you wanted to clone turn their game off in the middle of the trade while the person receiving the clone kept theirs on. Might have been some more complicated way to do it in later gens, I dunno

gotta catch em' all zoomie.
jannies ban this fool
>>
>>59158775
Battle? No. Trade? Yes. I was the kid at school everyone got their Mew from.

My friend wanted to assert dominance after helping me evolve my level 28 Graveler to Golem. He used his level 100 Pikachu with triple electric attacks and mega kick and couldn't get past the Golem he just helped me evolve. That was 26 years ago.
>>
>>59158775
yea mostly just for trade evolutions, i never really enjoyed battling with other people
