Its sad that the Legends games have phased out remakes. We are probably never going to get a proper remake from Gen 2 or even Gen 5 for that matter.

At the absolute least BW is decently balanced to maybe give you a few challenges, but BDSP shows they'd sand off all the edges. Give me a remake of XY instead, get rid of the ugly ass overworld art style and add EXP scaling and the game actually improves.

Your overleveled starter can barely get through that sort of thing in most games without items or actual grinding on random encounters (key among them Emerald with Blaziken), you'll definitely be struggling unless you're a speedrunner. On the contrary, I think basically any single Pokemon could beat any challenge in BDSP if the affection RNG goes right, it's that bad for balance.

Mid-game it depends, sometimes you get Whitney, sometimes you get absolutely fucking nothing. It's no Gen 7 or Game Cube title, but the standard is low and BDSP doesn't even limp over it even with all the buffs for bosses that don't matter.
